Classic Era PvP Rank Reset Coming with Patch 1.14.4

Greetings,

We are preparing for a new 1.14.4 patch for WoW Classic Era to support WoW Classic Hardcore realms. In addition to official Hardcore realms, this patch will also include a large update to the vanilla PvP honor system for all Classic Era realms.

This patch will completely reset all current honor system ranking progress on all Classic Era realms when it’s released.

While we do not have a specific date to share yet for when the patch will be released, we want you to know that it will likely arrive in the next 8-12 weeks. If you’re in the middle of ranking in WoW Classic Era, you may want to take that timeframe into account before continuing. If you’re about to start ranking a character, you may not have enough time to hit Rank 14 before the patch arrives and your progress is lost.

Please know that we do not take something like a PvP ranking progress reset lightly. The updates we’re making to the Classic Era version of the game are required for the long-term health of that version of the game.

We look forward to providing more information on this when we open the Classic Era patch 1.14.4 PTR sometime in the next several weeks.

Thank you.

  • Shaman
    • Enhancement
      • Fixed an issue where using Windstrike in Ascendance while talented into Legacy of the Frost Witch and Thorim's Invocation was not properly resetting the cooldown of Windstrike when gaining the Legacy of the Frost Witch buff.
  • Warlock
    • Demonology
      • Fixed an issue where Ripped through the Portal would not function on Magmorax's platform.
      • Fixed an issue where Dread Calling would not function on Magmorax's platform.
      • Fixed an issue where Infernal Command would not function on Magmorax's platform.

Dungeons and Raids

  • Mythic+
    • Neltharus
      • Forgemaster Gorek
        • [With weekly restarts] Reduced the duration of Blazing Aegis reduced to 4 seconds (was 6 seconds).
    • Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
      • Bromach
        • [With weekly restarts] The health of Quaking totem has been reduced by 20%.
    • The Vortex Pinnacle
      • Asaad
        • [With weekly restarts] Reduced the health of Skyfall Nova by 10%.

Enemies and NPCs

  • Zaralek Cavern

    • [With weekly restarts] The loot lockout now resets when the content in a given area of the map becomes available. Now, when world quests are visible in an area, the rare elite enemies in that area will also be available. Rare elite rewards have been increased to offset their reduced frequency.
      • Developers’ notes: Unlike Forbidden Reach, the rare elites in Zaralek Cavern are meant to be a bonus, rather than the primary activity.

Quests

  • The extra Effervesta will not be present during the “Best Friends” quest chain.
  • Fyrakk is looking for more folks to burninate during “Aiding the Accord: Suffusion Camp,” so this quest can now be offered to qualifying alts between levels 60 and 66 (was 67+).

Another L from Blizzard, maybe they just sit in a boardroom and laugh at us? The two other "events" in Zaralek is world bosses/Researchers, and they're WEEKLY. You'd think they would want us to return there daily no?

    - If rares are not the main activity in the caverns, why put so many of them there?
    - If rares are not the main activity in the caverns, why give almost every rare unique loot, be it unique transmog IDs, dragon custumizations or even mounts with ridiculously low drop rates?
    - If rares are not the main activity in the caverns, why make the drop rates of said loot so low?

Who in their right mind could sit at Blizzard and think "yeah, less rare popping in Zaralek is really what the game needs right now" ???

    Am amazed by stupid idea.

I guess Zaralek looks slightly less deserted when there are fewer rares up on the map at once...

Most underwhelming patch/season that I've seen for a long time. Completely boring and many issues. Balancing is ass. Glad Diablo is coming, my account expires in 2 weeks and I have ZERO interest playing WoW.

Problem for me was that it was just to many rares up at any given time. I would fly around and find rare after rare, but had to engage alone.

The issues about those rares is that they don't drop anything worthwhile. It's week three of the patch, and on my shard of one of the largest EU servers are half the rares up. Even the "filler" content of forbidden reach felt more alive.

Many classes cannot solo those rares (especially if people actually need the upgrades from them), the upgrades they actually drop (one drake crest fragment, like what?) are ridiculous, and they don't award anything worthwhile farming (no reputation, no useful currency). All the common drops from them are rather quickly farmed, while the rare drops (like mounts) seem to have a tiny dropchance.

Also I am intrigued when they claim rares are not supposed to be the primary activity. So then what is it? The world quests? The one weekly event?

All in all a curious decision.

I believe a few drop toys or pets, and there's one that drops a mount. And otherwise one set of armor appearance for Zaralek comes from rares and treasures.

No pvp tuning? Huh.. guess blizz thinks some specs are currently balanced then. Worrying!

Cause you need flightstones to upgrade M+ gear, and you need A LOT, and the rares drop the most flightstones once you got done with a couple of world quests in there.

That happened to me too, go to a rare, stand there alone, no chance of beating it, never mind, move on to content i can solo instead.

I think putting the rare-fest of Zaralek right after the rare-fest of forbidden reach was a big mistake, people are tired of running from one rare to the next, especially for the utterly laughable rewards of the Zaralek ones.

I've been farming all rares since day one, and luckily I'm very close to be capped on Drake Crests for upgrades in EVERY slot. Meaning the only rare I ever need is the mount one.

I feel sorry for the ones still needing those Drake Crests for gear upgrades.

You need stones for Wyrm Crests as well, you know. The fragments drop from M+ dungeons, but you still need flightstones with the Wyrm Crests to upgrade.

So M+ players have to kill rares in the hole in order to upgrade their gear.

Quite the nonsense right? To shit on something that is mostly meaningless anyway.
I guess they really get a kick whenever they get to waste people's time for no reason whatsoever.

Never seen rares drop Wyrm Stones, unless I misunderstood what you're saying.

He's saying you need the flightstones for upgrades on top of the crests from other sources.

Oh boy, I didn't think of those, and they cap out at 2k... There's always a pain when WoW devs that clearly don't play the game, decide what's best for the players.

Blizzard thinks they can keep the area relevant by just forcing people to grind those mobs.

M+ also drop flightstones (100+25 bonus), which also is the most consistent way of farming them. So no, m+ player do not need to farm rares.
But raiders do, as flightstones don't drop in the raid.

I know very few people that only raid and don't do keys. The majority of folks I know who raid also do keys. It's possible there's those out there that only do raids, but they'd find another source for sure (as evidenced there's more than one way to get flightstones).
