WoW Classic Hardcore - EU Servers Lag Update

Hi all,

Just a quick update before we head into the weekend:

While we initially saw some improvements following last nights work and restarts, things appear to have become progressively worse again and troubleshooting continues.

In terms of in-game messaging it is being considered, though keep in mind not everyone is affected and a generic message about potentially running into issues is already true at all times. Having warnings appear and disappear might simply create unrealistic expectations about when it is and isn’t “safe” to play.

As for rolling back or reviving dead characters we’ve tried our best to be as clear as possible from the very start that it’s not something we will consider, which remains the case.

I understand losing characters to any technical issue is disappointing, but for purpose of keeping this thread useful for the ongoing work to address the issue, please try to keep the discussion to currently experienced symptoms – and thank you to those already contributing with this info!

Stay safe for now and hopefully the underlying issue can be finally addressed soon!

Thanks for not respecting my time. I lost my rogue during a flight and got dismounted midair after the message "Transfer aborted: Instance not found" appeared. Such statements are a slap in the face.

I mean, if Blizzard has said from the beginning they will do nothing about it, then I'm afraid it's all on you, buddy. Honestly, if bullshit deaths due to disconnects or glitches are unacceptable, then I have no idea why you would even bother. I'm certainly not touching it.

Yup, this. You could have died at any point due to a power outage, server DC, anti-flyhack-violation kick, etc. and this is just one of those things that you're risking by playing Hardcore. You can move your character to another realm and/or start again - the entire point.

Have a lvl 48 ret (0 deaths on HC yet, first char created), and had to stop playing it since yesterday night. I'm not risking main until these lags get fixed.

For now, like many others, pretty much forced to sit on a low level alt (well, if it dies, it dies).

They have screamed as loud as possible since Day Zero that this was going to be the policy, and it is because any other policy is not practically feasible.

Dying because of poor quality in servermanagement is not what i understand when it comes to hardcore. They want my euros, they have to provide stable servers. I don't have any problem with it when i'm dying because of mistakes i possibly make. Losing my progress because of server problems at a total random location is just bs. You can't literally trust anything. Instead of pissing people off, they could instead port ppl back to the next graveyard if a zone transfer fails.

Again, something Blizzard has been signaling as a potential risk you are going to have to deal with. This is to be expected, and should not have come as a surprise.

You slapped yourself in the face. The rules were extremely clearly stated by Blizzard. You alone choose to not care about the consequences of playing hardcore.

I don't see the "When our Servers suck, we don't care"-Section here.

    > Customer Support will not resurrect dead Hardcore characters for any reason.

    It's not hard to understand.

If you are fine that your invested time is devalued by server issues, have fun with that.

By that logic, you know what you also don't see there? A section called "exception to the 'no resurrection whatsoever' rule". If you assumed Blizzard would make you an exception even though no exceptions were mentioned in the rules, that's completely on you, not on Blizzard.

It's a risk you willingly take when you join Hardcore realms.

The pure possibility of technical issues have always kept me away from playing any permanent death games. This is why I never tried hardcore ladder in Diablo 2 back in the days and I certainly will not try it in WoW now.

I'm not fine with it, so I don't play hardcore. I don't know why this is such a hard concept to grasp.

Quit, many people already have done so. The wow devs do not respect the players time.

But what if you got a power outage, would you cry to blizzard then as well?

power outage has nothing to do with blizard and is ultimatley your fault for chosing said provider one could argue. but blizzards servers killing you and they cant fix it or rather dont want to fix it, is two completly different topics and is not comparable. cant tell if trolling.

The no revival motto of Blizzard has been going on since their HC Diablo days and even current HC Diablo. Thousands of people have died countless times due to server instability and you just have to deal with it. There is no reason that system should be changed just for an old iteration of WoW.
