    So... Serious question here, even though it may offend some of the mega-fans out there..

    It feels like so long ago that Blizzard has released anything worth getting excited about. I am personally a huge story guy. I quest and raid because I love seeing the story unfold. But it's just over the last handful of years, nothing has seemed to be remotely interesting.

    So the question. Have I just outgrown WoW, and it's a "me" thing, or have Blizzard just completely dropped the ball.

    Because this Amirdrassil patch really looks completely and utterly terrible imo.

    Blizzard isn't the same company as the 2004 version or have the same values and mission statement. Modern Blizzard wants Streamers, E-Sports and Microtrasnactions first. Fun, Gameplay and story take a backseat or no seat at all. Look At diablo 4, Hearthstone, Overwatch 2 and HoTs. Great ideas that got ruined by esports or greed or both.

    To be fair, that isn't a Blizzard exclusive issue. That's all companies everywhere. They all generally put money before anything else. Some of that is a result of how the minds of investors have changed over the years. Everyone wants to make a quick buck and if they can't do that with your company then they're not investing. It's the reason a lot of companies (but especially Blizzard) tries to front load a lot of their profits at the expensive of future profits.

    They push 6/12 month promos to get a surge of income to appear more profitable and to show more growth than is actually there. Which in turn, means less income for the following quarters, so then they have to hustle even harder to continue to 'grow'. Investors want to see that growth and usually aren't keen enough to realize it's mostly artificial. These are the same reasons Blizzard is slower to act when dealing with bots (or ban quarterly so that they have to 'buy' new accounts within each quarter) and it's the same reasons why they push more and more microtransactions.

    Growth, growth, growth. All anyone cares about is growth. I'll take healthy growth or stable quality over whatever this is. Then again, I'm also not trying to get rich or make a quick buck. I actually have values and would invest those profits back into the company and the employees to really hone the quality and care with the product we're delivering as well as the work culture.

    I find that after Shadowlands, it's no longer really possible to get interested in the story anymore. BfA's story was bad, but SL actively destroyed any chance of WoW's story being worth caring about altogeter
