looks like itll be pretty slow news-wise for retail until mid march, good time to take a break if you want to

If they are willing to maintain so many different instances of wow classic, why can't they just have the same thing in retail but versions of the game where the world is actually threatening, world bosses and rares require actual careful play, the many events in the world don't just "complete themselves".

because the game starts at endgame in retail. There is infinitely more to do at endgame in retail than in classic. If you rush to endgame in classic, you'll be bored and done with it super quickly. Opposite is true in retail. The reason why leveling can be fast and the world content can be relatively easy is because there are avenues of scaling and challenging content, which classic does not have

I'd agree. I think they need a world tier system.

The base game is clearly designed to be as accessible as possible right now to get as many people as possible playing (because $$$)

A world tier system allows that to still exist, but also allows something for people that don't like the vapid, awful gameplay it forces everyone to do.

You can start by taking your gear off. It won't help with group events, but other world content should be more a challenge for you.

You dont understand it. He doesnt want the game hard for him. But hard for others , so he can throw tons of hours at it and flex being able to have ( check notes ) leveld a character

Thats the classic mindset. Having things time consuming , so you can flex on people with less time invested without needing skill.

Him taking of his armor would do nothing for it

Since when does "more time consumed" mean "less invested?"

No, You don't understand. You're just assuming and being shitty for no reason. I specifically said I wanted new servers with different difficulties: That is the opposite of wanting the world to be difficult for others. If you don't want a harder world then you can continue in current servers, nothing would change for you and instanced content would still be the same for everyone. And i'm not even asking different (better) rewards for that same harder world. We could still receive that pointless "resources" we've been hoarding since DF released.

And I'm not a competitive guy that thinks he's better than anyone else because of the content he plays. i'm a shitty player that can't do PVP I can't even do mythic+ beyond +13or 14 because it just becomes too hard.
I have no rose tinted glasses of a glorious past. I tried classic when it was released and it just confirmed what I already knew. That vanilla was a great prototype to what WOW would eventually become. I love the quality of life we have in wow now, but the world just isn't fun to play around in. Every task just takes minutes to do, you just need to do hundreds of them to "progress" whatever progress means to you. You don't require any kind of brain power to figure out how to complete a task, or any kind of careful gameplay to be able to defeat enemies that are placed in the world. The enemies either are too hard to solo or pose absolutely no threat. But if it's not soloable, if you find ANY group then it goes back to posing absolutely no threat. This is not good gameplay. Elite and rare mobs that you group up to do are easy but just have too much health just so the fight lasts long enough to pretend to be engaging, but it's just not.

And yes, I tried going naked and it's not the same as having a world designed to be harder. Everyone around you is still going through mobs as if they'd rather be doing anything else in the world than be playing wow.

I think this is already available with normal raids and M+ , where you can die to mobs and boss have mechanics. They can possibly work on levels of difficulty for word bosses and rares but then this will just take away from other content development.

I don't get the appeal of SFM (self found mode).

Anyone explain why this would be fun? It's like 'Bot' mode... can you do dungeons?

Some people find challenge fun, not much more to it.

I know it's available in raids and m+. I'd just like something similar for the world. And "it takes away from content development" is not an argument, because they keep adding crap that keeps the development team busy, like island expeditions, dumb events in the world, torghast, farmville and these incoming Delves that don't even last the whole expansion in terms of keeping the players interested. And again, if they are going out of their way to do Hardmode and this new Hardmode servers going because people want a challenge, then there is probably an audience for harder world in retail. And I'm fairly certain there is.
