I mean at this point they are mostly obsolete but I'm sure people are going to be pissed regardless and somehow this is Blizzard trying to squeeze people's wallets or something

I would assume this only applies to Retail, not Classic?

With guilds becoming cross-faction AND cross-realm in TWW, this is not a surprise. I do think they soft confirmed prepatch on 23rd though. They really could've posted this and the prepatch date launch at same time.

By MrGM, who has since speculated that the prepatch could launch with the removal of these services. But it’s almost certainly the 30th

It's on the front page of mmoc. YouTubes mostly only parrot information found or released by others

I would still hold to it being July 30th. Retiring the services on July 22nd gives a week's break before 11.0 goes live to deal with any remaining outstanding issues (if they exist). And I don't think it'd be a great idea regardless to allow the services to continue to be used right up to the eleventh hour with the changes coming.

It's 100% going to be the 23rd that prepatch hits. It gives 1 full week of all raids awakened for people to test their specs then the event starts the following week.

If guilds are going to become cross-realm, then how will they deal with guilds with same names on different servers?

Same way they deal with same player names. By adding the server name to the guild name.

I'd imagine they'd just add the realm tag after the guild name as a quick fix.

As someone who used the guild server xfer services a lot for moving gold/materials... I want a retroactive refund!

But in all seriousness, this is something that should've happened a long time ago. However, there can be some extenuating circumstances as to why one would want to transfer a guild to a different realm, even in cross-realm scenarios. Better option would be to just make the services free while maintaining a long enough service cooldown to prevent service overload or potential abuse.

The amount of people complaining because there are NO people complaining about this change is..... STUNNING.

Like... wtf is wrong with you people? You spend your time on duty here, waiting to defend blizzard from whatever meanie there is?

Feels like "where are those big bad complainers... I have to defend mr Bobby D: "

Why would prepatch release a week before the event? They would release together no? I cba to check how past prepatches have released tbh is that a trend that's always happened in past expansions?

Multiple prepatches have launched before their events. In fact the most common prepatch event length was just 2 weeks, so this one being 4 weeks is already long.

The splash screen says available on July 30th which makes sense only if we see that splash screen before hand.

With guilds going cross server with the prepatch, it makes sense to retire the server transfer service the day before it goes live.

Thanks for the info I guess I never really paid attention in previous pre patches on their release cadence with their respective events.
