I wish they'd stuck with her original monstrous form. Classic nerubians look way cooler than the new 'evolved' nerubians. They're fine in and of themselves, but compared to the old design?

When did arachnophobia become so prevalent that everything to do with this expansion needs some kind of weird alternate game mode or trigger warning? Don't remember seeing any of that for Wrath or Wrath Classic.

Wrath has two dungeons (one of which is 90% not spiders) and a handful of questing areas with spiders. Not a fourth of the continent and a raid tier.

It's always been a thing. But back then they were so horrible graphics wise they didn't trigger it. But with the newer far better graphics people are triggered by it far more seriously.
I myself have it, but having played wow my whole life wow is like the one game I can handle the spiders in, but whoever made that spider treasure chest in drustvar actually scared the fuck out of me.
Arachnophobia is one of if not the most common phobias.

I don't have any kind of arachnophobia, but there was a cave that had spiders with red eyes all hanging from a ceiling in DF (i'm in not kistaken) that really creeped me out. I wonder how people with phobia took it?

Yep, dragonflight, bottom left of azure span there is a cave full of ice spiders with red eyes hanging from the ceiling, it is awful I hate it, I have been there once and never again. Scary no, makes my stomach churn? Hell yeah.
Only one spider has ever jumpscared me in WoW and it's that rare/elite tucked away in a corner of Terokkar Forest. It doesn't become visual, regardless of settings, until you're right on top of it.
Actually, another one. It didn't scare me, more just "0_0 Sorry, what?" to all the sounds Sennarth makes. Good mini-kaiju stuff.
Hey look, it's all the context for the raid tier everybody was bitching about being missing from the expansion trailer.
I liked it and I generally haven't been fond of these. The main story conceit is a simple misdirection which both introduces the main players in the first raid and paints Xal'atath as the conniving villainess she is. Curious to see how DF players eventually tie into this story.
but the worst part is they are now spider-elves?... what I mean, humanoid spiders...to make them less scary... what is the point of making them more kid-friendly when u got the arachnophobia feature to turn them all into crabs instead...
I wonder of xal'ateth can out-cringe garrosh in lame villain department (perhaps nothing can defeat the cringe that is garrosh "me angry orc, me smash!") they ruined the garrosh character, it felt forced his turn to "I shall smaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssshhhhhhh the entire universe! me aaaaaaaaaaaangrryyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!11111oneone"
Sure, he was always a dick, but come on...
fucking shitty villains we get sometimes... I did like Raszageth though somewhat...well, maybe not liked, but sure made me wanna kill her...but xal'ateth just makes me shrug n feel oblivious n bored...
they were going old god shadows n void stuffs, they should just have continued the path of Iridikron, instead of picking random Nelf npc with purple eyes that does the most braindead villain tropes... Imagine iridikron model changed like they did with fyrakk, but make him more Voidy n shadowy...that would have been kewl!
Yeah, bud. They really want to rake in the arachnophobia mode sales.
I think it's a bit tongue-in-cheek at this point. Just a little bit of flavor for the raid tier. An accessibility feature for the players who want/need it and a meme feature for the players who are ambivalent. There's literally no downside unless you're a miserable, terminally online fun hating cynic that needs to view all of Blizzard's development choices under the lens of cost analysis.
Again, when did it become an issue? LOL they're trying to push that stupid function they wasted time on
Again, it was always an issue. But it wasn't as much of an issue when the game was graphically old. Now that the games graphics are up to date it is more of an issue.
