Earthen Racials - Buffs Incoming

First, we recognize that the Earthen Well Fed secondary stat bonus is not providing the intended power level. We’re increasing that effect.

Secondly, we’re making Belga’s gems edible to Earthen, improving their quality, and greatly reducing their cost.

We’ll let you know when the hotfixes to make these adjustments go live.

They should buff the azerite surge so you can dodge/parry/etc when channeling. Also, wtf is the 3rd level of the surge, it's less damage than level 1. The racial is meant to be the equivalent of the 1% buff but its so bad.

Azerite Surge is not supposed to be the equivalent of the 1% buff. It's more like a Touch of the Naaru/Quaking Palm/Bag of Tricks kind of ability.

That said, I agree that dodging, parrying and blocking should be possible during the channel.

You instantly unlock them when you do the final story chapter that was released yesterday (EU) 2 days ago (NA)

When you speak to Anduin sitting next to Thrall chilling on the hill behind Dornogal, you get 2 Achievements. One for completing the campaign and another for unlocking the Earthen. You also get the Earthen faction Mount (The overgrown Ram (don't know the real name ))

You also have to do some side quests along with main story to unlock earthen. Check your "Allied: Earthen" achievement to see what you need still.

That's also true yes. There are some side quest chains required. They are marked with "Required to unlock Earthen" when you accept them.

Their racial are still horrible and no match for stone form or fireblood, a shame. I was considering leveling one but not at the cost of gimmicking myself in pvp.

I get that the racial doesn't allow them to gain food buffs, but they should still be able to use any food for health/mana regen. Is one of those things where gameplay should be above anything... food is available all over the world, gems that can be used as food aren't.

I am really not sure what their plan was with that racial.

Not being able to eat (except heavily overpriced gems that you need to carry a stockpile with you) to recover mana makes them virtually useless as healers.

They simply should not be able to gain any well-fed buff from food, but they should get the same amount of health/mana like everyone else. No idea why this is not the solution they went with, it's not really rocket science.

Kinda disagree, every race has a defensive/offensive racial. Azerite surge clearly is both at once. Same with bag of tricks (Should do higher damage than any of your fillers.. or fill an empty GCD), touch of the naaru is a defensive, and quaking palm is utiliity.

Unless you tell me that the well fed buff they get is better than any food, i think azerite is meant to be equivalent to the 1% offensive... otherwise it's like nothing? Unless you want to heal yourself. Food racial just seems like a convenience thing otherwise, which is pretty nice.

the 10% armor though.. thats really strong for tanks, probably a bit OP for paladin/warrior. I mathed out paladin gains like 5% damage reduction from it... not sure how monk benefits from armor compared to them lol, they seem to be less based on armor DR than other tanks.

Yeah idk maybe they should just be able to EAT regular food but it won't give them any buffs. To get the well-fed buff they then would have to consume a gem of some sort. A mundane or lower quality gem of ANY variety should give them a base well fed buff such as plus stamina. While a high quality gem would give them various other stats according to the color of the gem consumed.

I made my Earthen Warrior a gem crafter/miner so shouldn't be an issue for me but I def understand how it seems like a bane to anyone who doesn't pick at least mining.

As of yesterday evening, the racial Ingest Minerals "Well Fed" buff was updated to 562 secondary stat over the previous 383. Belga, the gem vendor in Dornogol, was selling gems for a few silver a piece that restored HP and Mana to Earthen characters. This is meant to be a replacement for HP/Mana recovery so you don't have to eat normal food for those resources.

However, at this time, the Azerite Surge racial, their active "empowered" ability, was unchanged.

Here are some numbers for those interested in such things:

The new 562 secondary stat from Earthen's gem-munching Well Fed racial is, on my level 80 Ret Paladin, about a 50 (fifty) DPS increase over the standard main stat feast.

The Azerite Surge ability does roughly 112k for a single empower, 160k for a full level 3 empower, on single target.

The last hit of Azerite Surge if you fully empower it is a single target hit that does about 50k. It is almost never going to be worth fully empowering this racial because it takes upwards of 3 seconds, and most classes do not have that major of a gap in rotational downtime. In 99.9% of cases, fully charging this ability will be a net DPS loss over just doing your normal rotation. As an example, a full charge of the ability does nearly as much damage as 1/3 of a Templars Verdict, except the Azerite Surge is on a 2 minute CD. Essentially, this ability is effectively useless, especially the fully charged version. You can get away with hitting the first charge to fill rotational gaps every 2 minutes.

Based on the numbers I've looked at, playing an Earthen is, unless they adjust it further, worse than playing a Vulpera in terms of numerical performance. Your racial passive basically has you at net neutral DPS and you're not given the standard 1-2% racial DPS value that the majority of other races have.

Obviously racial bonuses are a very small overall percentage your DPS, but it does kinda stink that they bring nothing of any PvE value.

Keep in mind that the official patch notes regarding the Earthen have not gone out yet, and these values may change. But SOME changes had gone live yesterday evening.
