Hello!

This was an unintended change and a fix for it has been deployed.

The original change was intended to prevent Vile Taint from activating Blackened Soul for every enemy it affects by providing a small enough internal cooldown that would have no effect on gameplay.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

What gives?

We’re working on a hotfix to address this.

The hotfix will add a new Shatter recipe to Enchanting, and the new recipe will let you shatter blue crystals and receive dust.

We expect this to become available in-game in the next couple of days.

Thank God for the warlock hotfix. When I heard about it from the Kalamazi video, I was like WTF. But glad Blizz looks at the player feedback and posts.

Nice enchanting change - now I have 60 points of knowledge stuck over there never to be used again.

Kinda bonkers that they didn't have a shatter recipe in initially since that's been pretty standard, but very glad they are putting one in ASAP. My enchanter alt has 36 crystals to 3 dusts.

I gave up entirely on crafting because of this - it was costing me 3000g worth of dust to make ONE rank 3 leg enchant with tailoring that sold for 2000g.

So I sold ALL of my dust and just stopped - looks like the rage quit worked out for me

With this change - maybe I can start doing tailoring again.

Glad to have spent 60 knowledge points on a spec tree that is now becoming useless.

That's what I found extremely odd, as well... although in the grand scheme of things I'm not surprised. It's not uncommon that Blizz somehow removes or forgets 'standard' features or mechanics for a new expansion that solved the exact same problem that they seem to always face. This isn't the first time the issue of "We lack greens or items that create dust, and we have too many shards, what do we do?!?" has come up; heck, I even remember it was bad in a prior expansion to where a single dust was selling for 3-5 times the cost of a shard until Blizz put in the recipe.

While I didn't do the beta this time around, I wouldn't be surprised if this was mentioned during the testing (there's always at least a handful of people that test professions, especially enchanting and alchemy) and got ignored for various reasons. Wouldn't be the first time, probably won't be the last.
