Heroes of the Storm is live on Game Pass

hoping that this leads, to something else, like seems odd to put a game that is in life support suddenly get this

Isn't it free to play anyway? I mean, it's nice and all, but I doubt anyone would get the game pass just for the 30 heroes. And anyone with gamepass can already play HotS.
It's nice to have, but really pointless imo.

It would be great if they somehow resurrected this game. I'm not joking when I say that this is the best Blizzard game you can play right now.

Game Pass is a service that Xbox and Windows offers that, for $12 USD, you can play various games for free including major AAA games. So you wouldn't be paying money to play HotS; you'd be given HotS as an extra option to play in addition to what you already pay to have access to.

I don't think the intent is to bring more people to GamePass, but as an advertisement for people who already have GamePass, that they'll be able to play a bunch of heroes immediately, rather than starting with 5-10(whatever the free roster is). The idea being that it removes a barrier for entry to people playing HotS, if they've got GamePass. Same reason as LoL is on GamePass.

Microsoft is just putting their backlog into the Game Pass.

HotS is not a profitable product, so it doesn't get any development anymore.

I don't believe it's all heroes, but specifically the Heroic Reinforcement Bundle https://us.shop.battle.net/en-us/pro...rcement-bundle

So there's still other heroes you can unlock by playing, and also you can accumulate currency so that if you unsubscribe from GamePass one day, you can buy the heroes in the pack and continue playing them.

Was excited that it might be on Xbox as well but looks like just PC. So kind of eh?

GamePass also offers additional perks for games that may or may not be free-to-play, to sort of sweeten the pot. Like, when Phantasy Star Online 2 was finally localized, GP members could download a free cosmetic outfit and weekly item packs (IIRC, usually a Half-Scape Doll and a few healing items) for a while, and IIRC there was a period where League of Legends let GP have access to every hero without any further purchases (though the heroes that haven't been properly obtained would re-lock if you left GP), to give a few examples.

This is pretty in-line with that they usually do, but like others have said, it's a bit weird to see a game on maintenance mode get some attention.

Steam might've generated some traffic.

Not as much as Steam I would say. Plus, Microsoft has been really struggling on
the gamer side of the equation compared to the others.

Sure, why not?! All sorts of garbage games with like a peak of 100 players on Steam, somehow make some money as just being filler content to dump on Gamepass to justify the subscription to the service. Might as well be HOTS in there too.
