WoW SoD - Blizzard Clarifies Beatrix Encounter in Scarlet Enclave Raid

Did you know that the Beatrix encounter is customizable?
Beatrix can only perform her class call-style spells when certain of her Lieutenants are alive.

Most players are fighting a combination of Infantry (Scarlet Phalanx), Artillery (Mortar Combat), Cavalry (Thundering Hooves), and Mage (Meteor) abilities. However, only two of these abilities are locked-in this week: the Infantry and Artillery abilities.

After defeating Balnazzar, when you talk to Fydriel, the Night Elf scout for the Argent Dawn, pay attention to the camps he says are empowered. These are the two guaranteed members of Beatrix’s encounter that week. However, players have the ability to choose two out of the four remaining camps they want to remove from Beatrix’s encounter. If you kill Cardinal Stiltz (Priest) and Bowmaster Puck (Archer) first, then you remove the Priest (Confession) and Archer (Scarlet Arrows) class calls from the Beatrix encounter. However, if you choose to kill Knight-Captain Fratley (Cavalry) and Arcanist Hilda (Mage) first instead, you will have removed the Cavalry (Thundering Hooves) and Mage (Meteor) mechanics from the fight.

Next week a new set of two mechanics will be guaranteed to appear in the encounter and your raid group can make a new choice as to what mechanics you remove.

The guaranteed mechanics are the same for all servers in all regions, so all raids face the same challenge, but may make different choices.

And yes, if you reset your instance before defeating Beatrix, you have the ability to make a different choice about which mechanics you disable.

Happy raiding!

Retail raids (and dungeon) are missing that kind of stuff.

Priory doesn't have a rotating weekly mechanic. The issue in retail, for people who like this kind of thing, isn't that it is missing 100% always and forever. The issue is that it is extremely rare. 99% of content fits into very narrow boxes.

You never have to ask yourself if you're going to choose between the paladin or the mage in Priory because it doesn't matter which one you take the fight's going to be the same. Here we talk about skipping complete mechanics with a weekly rotation.

Priory's a bad example; I think Waycrest Manor back in BfA is closer to this (though it's not quite the same); even then, however, it was easily the worst part of the dungeon because it made routing a nightmare from week-to-week. So much so that they put in a fixed rotation when the dungeon came back last expansion.

So you don't understand how priory works then?

You literally build the first boss in there based on the route you take. I'm not sure why you would say something so confidently and be so incorrect on it.

I'm not even saying it was a good comparison to this for the record, but claiming the fight is the same no matter what is complete bullshit rofl.

Xalatath's affix is literally a rotating weekly mechanic. So rare it's in every key between 4-11!

Yea it was terrible for casuals who didn't know how to just cheese it and take the same route every week regardless. When you don't know and the game is trying to force path you through the hunters lodge that was shit rofl.

I can't even remember what the cheese was. Wasn't it going up and to the left or something? Shit was annoying and had no business in M+ regardless.

Affixes aren't diegetic. The reason some people like mechanics like this is because they are diegetic.

In both way you have a CC to kick. Eventually, the unavoidable aoe ability from the add takes the form of a flamestrike dodgeable flamestrike. And again, even if that change really mattered (which doesnt since people would rather take unavoidable damage than flamestrike) , it'd be overshadowed by the trash road you'd take and the % you need in your road. And I'm not even talking about doing the fight with the first add because it would just be a disaster in term of M+ road to skip Shaynemail and keep it for the boss. Which is honestly a shame because she's the only one briging a different approach of the fight.

Again, you don't have to adapt according to your group comp or to what's the easiest path as the road here is already set up by the trashes anyway and not the mechanics (who are easily dealt with, and I guess it's not that bad in M+).

As for Xal affixes, you loose once you get into +12 which is a shame because I really liked how little of an impact it had on your key run, but still had to be dealt with.
