New Support Article: How to Transfer Gold Between Realms or Factions
Blizzard has published a new support article that explains how players can move gold between realms or factions.

The Warband Bank is a feature in the modern version of World of Warcraft that will allow you to deposit gold and items from any character on your account to withdraw on any other character, allowing you to move gold around between realms and factions if you choose.

For Classic WoW, the only way to move gold between realms or factions would be to change the realm or faction of the character with the gold.

In reference to the last line of the support article, it's important to note that the character transfer and faction change services are only available in WoW Classic Progression (Cataclysm Classic). Players on Classic Era, Season of Discovery, Hardcore, and Anniversary Edition realms cannot move their gold between realms or factions since paid services are not available for those game modes.

This post appears to follow up on last week's trading policy change, which officially prohibited all gold swapping in WoW Classic. The new support article clarifies how it's still possible to move gold through Blizzard's in-game systems (Warband Bank for Retail) and paid services (Character Transfer and Faction Change for WoW Classic Progression).

    On classicnera, hc u can use the neutral ah on booty bay. Just put and item on char that u want the gold. With the amount u need (like 15k) wnd go with the char u have the gold and buy it...

    If transferring gold between realms (between 2 chars of the same faction), can't you just mail the gold? I'm pretty sure I did this in the past.

    Edit: I mean in retail. I assume this is still allowed?

    Sending gold to your character on the opposite faction can still be done via mail, that's fine. For non-connected realms, you have to use the warband bank.

    Man, that workaround has been around since I was watching my little bro play OG Classic back in 2004. Big brain activity.

    I did that back in classic, when played both factions. U also had to have two accounts, since it wasnt allowed to have char of opposite faction in the same realm lol

    It never let me buy my own auctions, even on a different character.

    You can't buy your own auctions. You'd need a friend that you trust to either put up the auction or buy it for you.

    So on classic im no longer allowed to swap an item on the neutral ah, sell it on opposing faction, and transfer the gold back? Or is this just trading x gold from one faction to another like hey bro gimme 10g ill give you on other faction?

    You can't on the same account, you need a second account or trust a friend who has gold in the opposite faction.

    You need 2 accounts for that. You can't buy your own auctions (even with a different char if on the same account)

    When I had two accounts this was one of the reasons. I wish they'd just let you buy your own auctions.

    Because that would make a lot of sense. The only purpose that would serve is gold transfer, with which they now clearly have a problem and took a stance on it.

    Well, usually I want to buy my own auctions so i can relist them on a different character or realm. Warbank is for transfering gold. I don't understand why this matters unless you're trying to transfer gold to classic. I don't play classic so it's not affecting me.

    Warbank lets you transfer items as well, there's no reason to buy your own auctions just to move items between realms.

    The whole discussion around moving gold between realms/servers is only for Classic.
