ARATHI HIGHLANDS CAMPAIGN

While attentions have been focused on Khaz Algar, a new storm is brewing in the Arathi Highlands. Tensions are rising between the Horde and Alliance; join Faerin and Danath as they attempt to quell the rising tides of hostility between the two factions in a new multi-quest campaign. You’ll get to experience this new two-chapter storyline with branching viewpoints for each faction as you play through.

Players will receive a few new rewards for their efforts:

  • Alliance: Stromgarde Tabard
  • Horde: Mag’har Tabard
  • Shoulder Transmog inspired by Faerin’s own pauldrons.

GO LOREWALKING WITH LOREWALKER CHO

Players level ten and above can speak with Lorewalker Cho in either Stormwind, Orgrimmar, or Dornogal for a renewed questing experience. You’ll step back into some iconic lore moments in Azeroth with both previous quests and a few new ones.

There are three available repeatable quest chains:

  • Meet the Ethereals: Travel to Netherstorm to fight Dimensius, meet up with Alleria and Locus Walker in Legion, and head into the Shadowlands to meet the Brokers and gain access to Tazavesh. You’ll also meet up with Ve’nari.
  • Experience Xal’atath’s Storyline: Learn more about the Blade of the Black Empire in Legion, see how Xal’atath gained her body in Battle for Azeroth, and go back in time to the Black Empire to experience Xal’atath’s encounter with the Old Gods.
  • Face the Past with Arthas: Return to Stratholme for a condensed version of the culling, feel the stinging cold of betrayal in Wrath of the Lich King, and confront old memories as you step into the role of the Lich King as he faces down the heroes of Azeroth.

While Lorewalking, you won’t be able to undertake any other quests, but you’ll be able to exit any time you like and return to Lorewalker Cho.

OVERCHARGED DELVES

Things are about to become even more dangerous in Delves for you and Brann. We’re introducing a new Delve-specific affix to six Delves to push you to new feats of heroism (or to earn more shiny loot.)

  • Kreigval’s Rest
  • Skittering Breach
  • The Spiral Weave
  • Nightfall Sanctum
  • Fungal Folly
  • Sidestreet Sluice

You’ll engage with rare new enemies, more traps, and unlock traits in a new trait tree specific to Overcharged Delves. Selecting the right traits can turn the tides of traps by making them more beneficial rather than a detriment to your progress.

Additional New Rewards
  • Titan Disc Belt: Unlock the Titan Disc Belt at the start of the event and upgrade it through a weekly quest.
  • New Mount: Overcharged Mech Suit
  • New Gear
  • More Delves Currency

NEW UI OPTIONS: COMBAT ASSISTANT AND SINGLE-BUTTON ASSISTANT

Combat Assistant is a new feature coming to the game that highlights the recommended next ability based on resources and the situation your character is in. This feature is designed to help new players, players who are trying out a new specialization, or those looking for additional guidance on the abilities they should use without the need to turn to third party apps or outside guides. This new feature is configured as an additional option that is part of the base UI to assist you with a damage rotation no matter which specialization you’re using.

In addition, a Single-Button Assistant can be used to cast the next recommended ability in the sequence. This assistant is designed to have a small additional global cooldown added between abilities so that it is still useful for learning new skills, aiding those who are looking for additional help, or for those who want to experience the story or game on a more casual basis. It will also detect when an Area of Effect (AoE) spell or multi-target ability should be used.

Both of these new options should aid in lowering the barrier of entry for new players or players looking to explore new characters in a way that’s meaningful to them. As with the new Cooldown Manager added in the 11.1.5 content, it will continue to evolve over time.

USER INTERFACE AND ACCESSIBILITY

  • Cooldown Manager
    • The Essential Cooldowns and Utility Cooldowns portions of the Cooldown Manager now display information for Totems (such as Earthbind Totem, Healing Stream Totem) and players summons that are also tracked on the Totem frame (such as Earth Elemental and Call Dreadstalkers).
  • Players in Random Battleground matches can no longer see the names of opposing members until the match begins.
    • Developers’ notes: This changes the behavior to match how Rated Battlegrounds function, and is meant to help ensure fair matchmaking and gameplay.

KNOWN ISSUE

  • Mac users may experience graphical distortion.

I'm curious about the mentioned new leveling experience through Lorewalker Cho. I wonder if this could be a way to experience things like the Shifting Sands (AQ opening) questline, or the MoP and WoD legendary quest lines again, but revamped as a leveling experience instead.

I imagine the original rewards will still be unavailable to new players, but even just the ability to play through these fairly significant lore moments would be quite interesting to me.

Edit: Nevermind, wowhead has an article on what this feature currently entails. I still think it'd be interesting to be able to experience or re-experience the forementioned questlines.

I see the beginnings of a Legion meta achievement! I was wondering if they would make one, seems they're in the process of adding one. The reward mount, 'Rites of the Felsoul', sounds promising.

The recuperate ability makes Trolls' regen passive racial redundant... wonder if they'll change it.

I mean natural health Regen makes it practically redundant....

I mean have you seen ooc health Regen lately a non troll/dractyr practically heal to full in like a couple of seconds

If this makes anything redundant it's mage food

All the more to change it.

I mean they probably should change it to a battle regen ability. Or just make it a passive ability where Trolls regen their health out of combat twice as fast.

The recuperate spell is definitely going to upend some of the value of racial/class skills.

Not for most classes. It took 2 minutes 20 seconds for my human to heal 75% of their HP, and that was with fel synergy adding some additional class-based healing. Recuperate is going to be a big buff to the races/classes that don't have access to quick out of combat healing.

If this makes anything redundant it's mage food
Agreed on that though, I guess save for rare instances where mana needs to be recovered out of combat.

The troll passive still offers some regen in combat. Whether that's impactful at all, I don't know.

The first group that came to mind were Dracthyr - their visage buff is fairly strong. I guess visage still has the upside that it is in effect while moving, even though recuperate on the PTR only takes a few seconds to get back to max HP.

Welp, foods gone so yet another RPG element removed from the game. Blizzard has been cooking as all hell recently but this aint it, atleast for me

What about Forsaken cannibalism? Is it just going to be an animation difference? Either way cannibalism is inferior since you actually need a corpse. This just seems to need a campfire or lil ragnaros?

Welp, such a shame to see food go. I always hate when blizzard remove RPG elements from the game, but oh well. Though I suppose food has been worthless for me for the past few expansions except for when I need to rush in delves and its faster to eat than regen.

Cannibalism is now useless though, or straight up worse since you actually need a corpse. Recuperate seems to only require a campfire/lil ragnaros?

I mean food isn't gone it's just cheap vendor food is kinda worthless but cannibalism is far from useless it's at least flavorful and still restores Mana which this new ability does not.

But hell as you said cheap food has been useless for a while all classes have in some way a semi efficient way to heal themselves between combat these days (this may of made Mage food kinda useless to the mage though) but hell there's a TON of racials that are way more worthless than cannibalize. Vulperas bag of tricks is junk, Earthens Azertite Surge does nothing, dwarves literally have a boost to archeology that Blizzard hasn't touched in almost a decade.

Yeah cheap food is just a flavorful thing you can have now but as someone who's been playing an Earthen a bit lately kinda nice to have the extra inventory slots
