Dastardly Duos - Scaling Hotfix Item Level Issue When Wearing a Shirt
The Dastardly Duos event released this week introduced the Play Nice, Play Fair buff, designed to normalize player power by scaling all gear to item level 619. Players quickly found out that powerful legacy items such as Shadowmourne could be upscaled from its base 166 item level up to 619, opening the door to some creative builds using legacy gear.

However, a hotfix pushed last night quietly changed how the scaling functions. As a result, Shadowmourne and other legacy items are reverting back to their original item levels.

Unfortunately, the fix appears to have introduced a new issue. Characters wearing item level 1 shirts, such as the Tuxedo Shirt, now have their entire gear scaled down to item level 1, offering no stats or effects. So if you're getting one-shot, make sure to take off your shirt.

Update: The bug causing the Play Nice, Play Fair aura to force very low item level has been fixed.

Whatever makes you feel better buddy. A 3 page long circlejerk about "fun detected" in a game mode that apparently doesn't matter and is so easy the gear doesn't matter either, but none of you are mad. I'm glad you're all getting some social interaction with other well-adjusted not-mad people, good for you.

I gotta admit, this post made me chuckle

Yes, but I had no idea lol. I thought they were disabled past their current content, i.e. when you outlevel Legion stuff. But no, they are outright turned off

And if the only way you can have fun is using weird broken mechanics, maybe it's time to ask yourself whether or not this game is for you, yeah?
I am lucky that I am not saying that I need weird broken mechanics to have fun, then. I specifically mentioned that everything should be viable. I am merely suggesting that old legendaries can become fun again for a short while, for a game mode that does not increase a character's power in any way.

Also, there is nothing that prohibits old stuff from being giga broken. This is actually coherent with the game philosophy that Blizzard has displayed in similar scaled content. Legendaries and old socketed gear are king for timewalking, should we take those away as well? There is even a speed farming gear set that focuses on getting old azerite pieces with +speed on them, does that need fixing? Or can we just let people enjoy the things they have.

Again, Dastardly Duos should be able to be completed with any gear, but there is absolutely no harm in dusting off one's old gear and doing slightly cooler stuff in there. This is not content that progresses one's character.
