Join Game Director Aaron Keller and the team for a look at what 2026 has in store for the world of Overwatch!
Amazing news Overall, Win after win for Overwatch. Amazing pvp game overall! The reason i don't really care for WoW pvp anymore is because of Overwatch and how awesome it is. Seriously i am not sarcastic at all! Great news, great team! Amazing competitive game.
feel like you should give 5 new heroes announcement a bit more than a week to cook, but atleast this was actual content and not just some filler housing announcements and a weird ozzie AI video

Little man, Ozzy was a WoW Player and did WoW Advertisements. AI definitely cannot make a homage video like that either. Stop hating on everything in your life and stop being bitter for half a second.
Since I'm a glass half empty kind of guy, I'll start with negativity:
- Eff Vendetta. We've known her for two minutes yet they choose her to be the center figure for the big lore event. There is a journey a character needs to go through to earn such a spot and that journey needs time to breathe. As she stands, Vendetta is not interesting, just an entitled brat. Can't wait for Doomfist to return and bitch-slap her back into obscurity.
- Would've preferred to have even more new maps for Core.
- Mercy gets another Mythic skin. See how I included that in the rant list.
Otherwise, yeah, this is all pretty cool news. Out of the five new heroes I imagine I'll be most invested in Mizuki and the cat.
They are doing yet another revamp of how the characters, work this time redefining them not as a tanks/healers/damage, but as "survivor" "tactician" "recon" and other unintuitive stuff, and changing their passives. The game becomes more confusing whenever I check back on it.
Except for maybe the ninja healer, every single one of these characters from the sequel do not look like an Overwatch character. Fingers crossed for the big robot/mech, but one hit out of however many new characters thus far is abysmal.
My poor baby JPC getting banned every game right now when all I want to do is air lift Cassidy and 76 for their ults and have tethered Widowmaker duels.

No, they are 100% still defined as Tank, Support, or Damage.
The other things are subroles that alter the passive that they receive. And most I find pretty intuitive and unintrusive for the most part.
It is basically so they don't need 1 passive for the entire role that may do nothing for one hero and be overpowered on another.
They are just passive abilities. Honestly, the only one I get tripped up over is Kiriko is a Medic, not a Survivor.

She gets banned because she is very limiting to compete against.
You either need your own JPC or you need a hitscan to deal with her.
Though, I love her so much. I love her even more knowing Jennifer Hale (who voices Ashe in the game, but better know for being FemShep) voices her.

Not sure I like some of the sub roles. I don’t like that for some supports the need to use a movement ability to activate passive regen. If I’m by a wall and I duck around after getting hit once or twice then it’s bad to not have it up if they come around a little bit later.
As far as JPC, this holds true for many characters, and I’ve never seen them get banned as much. I think it’s more that people just find her annoying and she can easily troll her own group. I’ve heard quite a few stories of people gripping their own team over edges.
On a side note, when the hell did Sym’s beam get so long? Haven’t played in a long time and that character was hitting me on roof tops lol.

Can not need. Using a movement speed actives the passive regen early. You do not need to use it. You just have to wait for the cooldown for passive health regen. I admit the wording they use is weird, but you do not need to use movement ability to activate passive regen, just that using it will trigger it to start.
As for JPC, those people are idiots or lying. When you are tethered to a friendly JPC, you can get disconnect on your own at any time. If a friendly JPC is trolling you, that's 100% a you issue because they can't do it unless you let them or you are playing stupidly close to an edge.

That’s still kind of annoying. Just seems silly to have that be what activates it to start. Especially when others just get healing for healing others. Not a big issue, but definitely not a favorite aspect of the game for me.
To be fair, her first few days released I doubt some people know they can untether. I have never been gripped by her and haven’t gotten to play her much, from other people insta picking her or having her be banned, so honestly have no idea myself lol.

To be fair, the only one in the Survivor Role that is kind of bad with that is Juno since she has no self heal ability. The others all have means to self heal (Illari: Healing Pylon, Brigette: Inspire Passive, Wuyang and Mizuki have abilities that heal them on use).
Also, the healing for Medic is Weapon damage only. It is literally just Mercy's old passive given to more. It is only Mercy's Staff healing, Kiriko's Ofuda, Moira's healing spray, and Lifeweavers Healing Blossom. It doesn't affect healing abilities, so healing someone with Moira's Orb or Lifeweaver's tree do not trigger the additional healing.
I think the hardest thing to remember is that Kiriko is a Medic and Juno is a Survivor despite it feeling like they fit the other role better. Honestly, that is the most unintuitive thing I have encountered with the new passives.
As for the unhook, I would believe that but the game tells you front and center you can unhook if you get tethered. It does take some time to show up, which is why I mentioned the playing too close to an edge, you won't see it in time before you get pulled over the edge.
There are a few ways to troll your own with the cat though via their ult. But, it requires specific circumstances to pull off. If you dive and get the right enemy you could drop certain enemy ults into better positions. The cat is fun, and I think eventually the ban wave will go down once people are more use to dealing with the cat.
