Pull Up a Chair in the Arcantina

Within its cozy walls, the tavern teems with life; upbeat music drifts through the air, laughter rings out between friends, and old adventures are fondly recalled over shared drinks. Where the Void is bleak and cold, the Arcantina stands as its opposite—a warm spark in the heart of every patron. This is a place to rest, to gather, and to soak in the atmosphere of a bustling watering hole. Whether you’re stopping in to unwind after a long journey or simply spending a little downtime with friends, the Arcantina offers a welcome pause from the road.

Yet even here, adventure finds you. Familiar faces stop by from time to time, offering quests or a story to share. Whether you’re venturing out into Azeroth in search of relics of the past, lending a helping hand, or simply spending a little downtime with a few friends, there’s a little something for everyone.

Check back frequently, as the Arcantina often sees quest givers alongside a handful of other visitors with gossip and rumors to share—you never know who you’ll see next. Complete their tasks to earn rewards that add a well-traveled charm to both the Arcantina itself and a coordinating set of decor for your home.

How to Get There

To gain access to the Arcantina, you’ll first need to complete the Arator’s Journey questline up to the quest, “The Arcantina” from Kurdran Wildhammer. You receive a temporary key for your first visit, but upon completing the quest, you’ll receive the Personal Key to the Arcantina toy to add to your collection. Forged from the remnants of Dalaran, it can return you to (and back from) the Arcantina. So, stop by whenever you need respite from the endless fight against Xal'atath and her sleepless army.

Whether you’re there to unwind and reconnect with old friends or learn from historic stories—the best tavern not of this world is only one turn of a key away!

for idiots like me that tried logging in checking if they already had the toy, this is an expansion zone that you unlock during the campaign.
no idea why they're advertising this before it's even launched.

Hopefully they add the Khadgar's magic wheelchair as an housing decor item. Many of my WoW friends could use one!

Putting Khadgar in there just to troll Asmongold. Gotta give it to Blizzard.

Ground mount only, reduces movement speed to 35% of normal movement speed, can't go up stairs. Funnily enough, even with those conditions you'd still see a bunch of people use it. I know I would!

That being said, still don't understand why they came up with a magic wheelchair for Khadgar instead of the vastly better options that could and do exist in WoW's setting beyond meta inclusivity reasons. I was stuck using wheelchairs, crutches, and canes for nearly a decade because I could barely walk, and I can safely say that I'd never identify more with a character just because they're using magical wheelchairs or crutches. In fact, it's way more insulting to me that Blizz would think that reductively about it... maybe it appeals to people whose only identity is their disabilities, but that's not a healthy thing to embrace.

To build hype. This has been their normal method as far back as the middle patches of Vanilla.

Khadgar's wheelchair has been Asmongold's go-to emblem for what's wrong with modern WoW. He brings it up regularly.

A significant number of players want to see themselves represented in the game and often treat their own characters as self-insert fantasies. That's not necessarily wrong since those players do find value in that, though I personally do not prefer fantasy games to be anchored by reality in that way.

So, we end up with wheelchair Khadgar and obese Kul Tirans and all sorts of other options designed for the sake of inclusivity.

Ironically Asmongold also approaches games this way by making his characters appear like himself, or in rare cases a somewhat idealized version of himself. If they took scrawny balding white men out of the character creator he'd have no clue what to do.

This is a universe where you can basically resurrect the dead and cure all sorts of ailments. Their representation in-game would therefore be cured of whatever ails them and not need the wheelchair. Even if you want to treat your own character as a self-insert, it can still do a lot of things you can't do irl.

Khadgar's floating wheelchair is still silly.

From the pictures looks enough like a fine fantasy tavern. I was worried it would be more "Arcan," less "tina." I am, however, gonna miss 'staying' in the delightful earthen inns. They're just sooooo cozy.

Heh, we need new Glyphs period! I'd take a wheelchair, a walker, anything at this point!

Yea but the argument is against it's existence. Who are we to imprint on others on how they want to deal with their conditions? If they want to sit on a chair and not use levitation all the time, good on them. Pretty sure we have to deal with stubborn parents at some point and how they want to deal with their conditions their own way.

    Even if it's silly, it's a game, it's a fantasy game, it's fine.

Getting triggered by the existence of a wheelchair in a game with spaceships is the sign of a very small and very bitter brain.

look, it's not his fault that they make him wheely, wheely uncomfortable...

I apologise, I just really wanted to make that joke. Just to be clear, it was a joke. I know there are more than a few people here who are incapable of distinguishing what is a joke and what isn't, even if it's blatantly told to them that it was a joke.

You're confusing game mechanics with what can actually be done in the game lore. Constantly throughout WoW's life we've had quests where we've had to go on long, grand adventures to try to find some cure for a poison or ailment that - by gameplay definition - we should be able to just cast a spell to cure (which Blizzard has, admittidly, gotten a bit better with). On the same page, there's been multiple times a major character has died to a wound far less grievous than what our characters go through on a day to day basis, and can simply be healed or ressurected through (Dimensius sucks players through a Blackhole, yet their corpses plop down right next to their healers to be battle rezzed for the umpeenth time because mechanics are hard).

Khadgar being in a floating wheelchair honestly isn't all that big of a stretch if he's lost his ability to walk, but still has the mental fortitude to conjure one. Even ignoring all that, there's also the simple idea that Khadgar may not WANT to be able to walk again, and is using the wheelchair as a way to force himself into retirement, as he knows his death is near (as was mentioned in the epilogue of Dragonflight).

Khadgar is literally no different than Professor X. Charles exists in a universe where there are so many ways for him to regain his ability to walk, and yet the plot has always ensured that he remains wheelchair bound, because that's what people have come to see him as, and what many have seen as a representation of themselves in the comics and X-Men media as a whole. Sometimes, the answer simply is "Blizzard decided to go this route with the character to add some representation and inclusivity to the game", and there is nothing wrong or "silly" about it.

Uh, bit awkward, but Xavier hasn't needed/used a wheelchair since House of M back in 2005.
