was it really the hardest boss of all time ? mechanics look insanely hard to follow from their kill video.

i have another question though : do these rwf guilds race/class change according to boss mechanic demands ? is it a common thing or does it happen almost all the time ? class change should be more common but it's just my guess.

Yes, the raid comp they used is based on an estimate of what they think they will need for the final boss and then changes are needed.

Liquid for example changed a DK tank to a Druid after discovering the final phase to get more dps for the points where they don't need 2 tanks on the encounter.

You have to keep in mind each of these players has atleast a dozen different characters, often of the same class to pick which gets the best gear to play.

And race changes are standart practice too. IIRC top guilds race changed all characters to Trolls (if they somehow weren't already) to get the Haste racial to pass DPS check on Mythic Jaina.

As much as I would like to contribute it to that, the second nerf (bugfix) benefitted Echo more (Liquid didn't need the extra 1%) and the first nerf to blades was so early in the race it hardly mattered. Anyway, Echo had the boss down to 40-60% or so in P4 (ahead of Liquid) at the start of Echo's raiding day, they spent 17 hours raiding and were unable to convert that in a kill... this is more of a case of Echo playing worse. Liquid woke up and killed it in like 5 hours or so.

This kill has little to do with headstart, Liquid spent a lot more time in splits vs Echo (and still somehow Liquid has a lower item level on the final boss vs Echo), they also have less time in this instance or on the boss both hour and pull wise vs Echo now, this is all on Echo as it was their race to lose.

Yay the farce is over. Grats Liquid for winning a race where you had all the advantages.

Now we gotta wait for the next raid and people can pretend to give a shit all over again.

Trolls were a special case because voodoo shuffle reduced the duration of a stacking dot on jaina that allowed it to fall of during intermission phases leading to way less hps required and less accidental deaths leading to the dps check phase.
Race changes for minor dps gains are done all the time, but the whole guild changing to one and the same race basically never happened and hasn't happened since.

There's no real way to objectively decide "the hardest boss" because there's so many distorting factors. Pull counts are distorted by mundane things like bosses that have hard P1s taking more pulls, but also more specific things like bugged/unkillable bosses (e.g. Legion KJ) or guilds not taking an off-tier boss seriously (Uu'nat); and a dozen other things. Not to mention that as organizational complexity increases, guilds become more and more adept at killing new bosses so a RWF today is incomparably more proficient than a RWF ten years ago.

L'ura is probably a contender for hardest boss overall, along with some others that people might agree or disagree over; but there seems to be significant consensus that it was the boss with the hardest Phase 1 of all time. And that's after it was nerfed.

Aww, poor baby, simping for the garbage team of the RWF. Their kill came 15 hours AFTER Liquids. So much for "12 hour advantage"

How about the advantage of the fact that they didn't have a basically 100% p4 Wipe because they did their all to hit 0% in P3 not knowing their was a P4 which allowed for Echo to start planning knowing there was a secret phase despite the fact they hadn't gotten that far yet? That, imo, is the biggest advantage.

12 hour start behind, took 15 hours longer to kill and require 70 more pulls? Aww, so much for your heroes looking like far back second place jokes. So awful, if this had been a racecar race, Liquid would've passed them again during their victory lap if you ask me.
