Elemental Invasion Part 4 - We're under attack!

Event is pretty fun, but there's no reason to participate once you've done it in both cities and completed the quests in the instances. One of the cloaks looked really cool, so I grabbed that, but I won't be using it ;-/

Regardless of the event being fun, it still absolutely pales in comparison to the madness that was zombie plague invasion. And although I would say that the event itself is better than the pre-wrath events with scourge spawning from the pyramids in the sky or whatever they were... at least you could do that and get currency to buy lasting items. Plus, Haunted Memento -- come on, give us something to top that.

It was kind of fun for the first few minutes, but became boring and repetitive really fast. Now that I've done it, I really don't want to do it again and I think I'm not the only one thinking like that. If there would be some achievements linked with that, I might bother few more times, but as it stands now - I've seen the bosses, I've participated in the invasions, next time they happen, I'll happily use my hs out of this mess.

Epic loot is always wonderful, but I would have liked to seen unique items like the ones from the WoTLK events like the Haunted Memento, or the bubble hearth trinket...Argent War Horn

Ok, for the loot-inspired around:

Each boss drops 5 items, all themed around said boss:

- Gaz'rilla drops items 53491 to 53495, all sacrificial-themed (or three-headed themed)
- Crown Princess Theredras (I hope mom's not too pissed when we meet her later) drops items 53496 to 53500, all earth-themed, or father themed (Zaetar was a centaur)
- Ambassador Flamelash drops items 53501 to 53505, all fire/salamander/sulfuron keep themed
- Sarsarun (sp?) drops items 53506 to 53509 AND 54592 (he was missing one of his 5 items, they added it later, that's why Boub was missing it in the list)

He's the quickly designed one, two of his loots are Zul'farrak themed (Sandfury and Sul'lithuz, which are the ZF trolls and basilisks), instead of AQ/wind. They probably switched some items in their spreadsheets when entering them.

Agree with this. Should have added some achievements/reward to keep us going back or shortened the event to a few days. Was fun first time but this will get boring very quick.

If this is their so-called "Mind blowing experience" I feel sorry for them.

Yeah I also agree. It was epic, but I don't see myself doing it every time.

I just wonder if there's something else coming up as well. Why just these 4 cities? Will they do something in Darnassus, Undercity, The Exodar and Silvermoon as well later?

Fun thing about this so called Wotlk event is that about half of it was a copy from the Naxxramas launch event back in classic. The scourge invasion and the collecting of necrotic runes to purchase the gear and tabard was from there, and I wouldnt be surprised if the haunted memento was from that time also. So I wouldn't call that event new and cool since I've done it before.

It's also nice to see all the people bitching about the ilevel of the items. Before GS was "founded" and blizzard started to post the ilevel of stuff in the tooltip, people really didn't care so much about if it was I level 141 or 146, it was more the stats that mattered and I can say that many of the items that drops here are nice and it serves as a nice startof gear for Cataclysm, just like the raid gear other people have. AND imagine if it would have been ilvl 277. Just imagine the whine from the "hardcore" raiders that cleared ICC25H about how people get free gear that is at an equal level with theirs without any effort.

People work together and the FoS is already given to people so it doesn't need to be more than 1. All in all it is a rather fun event when you do it the first time and within a week it will all be over. Can't stand the event? Just log off and play another game for 5 days or so and it will be fine. Or just stay clear of the major cities for the time being.

Just click each individual boss from that page to see their loot.

What is the level requirement for the event bosses? At least season bosses have a level req of 78 in order to be able to queue. Do these too?

Back at Scourge Invasion we were able to get unique tabard, war horn, banner, memento and cool looking Blessed Battlegear set (still have it in the bank 'cos of it's unique look)
At least it was a reason to do it over and over again.

That's my point - give us some achievements or unique items/pets etc etc to keep us doing it again.
We even got tabard for Summer Olympics '08 - but not for major expansion like Cata
Kind of funny for me...

I've been on for 2 hours and nothing has happened. This is frustrating more than exciting.

Signed on in the middle of it in Orgrimmar on Bleeding Hollow, was pretty fun. Got to do 3/4 bosses before that broke. Then trade chat went. Only thing I can do is /yell and whisper people. Expecting server reset at some point.

I've played in the beta. You'll get upgrades quickly, and they will out-strip 251s, but they will not replace every slot fast enough that you'll kick yourself for getting these. Sorry, but it's just not that fast. I hadn't replaced some of my Northrend gear by the time I was ready to move past Vash'Jir.

Even if every quest rewarded an item usable by your spec that wasn't represented by any previous quest (and there were no gold-only quests), then you'd need to do nearly 20 quests before you replaced all of your gear. Realistically it's going to be 5 to 10 times that number before you swap everything out and even then some slots are just rare as quest rewards.

At the very least, it will be several rounds of dailies worth of quests before you replace your Northrend gear, and if you're doing random Cataclysm dungeons, your team-mates will thank you for not walking into the first dungeon in ilvl 178 quest greens / 185 blues and pulling a big old 1.8kdps when you could have at least doubled if not tripled that after doing a few random bosses these next few weeks.

I should have expected the 'QQ give us moar gear/items/achievements/free stuff otherwise it's boring. hopefully once cata goes live and people realise that isnt an achievment for scratching your nuts and standing in dal/org/whatever, they will get bored and gtfo and we can go back to having players who amazingly want to play wow for the fun of it rather than 'what can wow do for me'

You don't have to defend any city to get achiev... I just did that destroying 4 vortexes and getting corresponding buffs in different locations around Northerend and Outlands... So it should even be possible to do with a low lvl char as those spawn in lvl 1-10 areas as well and elementals there have levels appropriate to zone. The only issue at low lvl may be need to travel to distant locations to find all 4 elements.
