Archaeology in 4.0.6 - Grey items changes
If you've been going through the 4.0.6 Patch Notes you probably saw the following line.

  • The sell value of all common artifacts has been doubled, while a small subset of common artifacts have had their sell value increased far beyond that.
That change didn't seem important at first but it's actually more significant than you'd think for people who spend a lot of time hunting for artefacts.

Some of the grey/junk items you get from archaeology had their price considerably increased (up to 1000 gold) and if you have them in your bags it's probably a very good idea to wait for the patch before you sell them ... I'm sure you'd hate to lose 1000 gold (or more!) because of that, right?

As far as I know this change hasn't been hotfixed on live servers and you'll have to wait for the patch.

    Horrible change, I for one am THOROUGHLY pissed off, having sold over 6 (if not 10 or more) of the word of empress zoe gray... so I get a total of around a couple hundred gold from selling crap that would net me well over 10k with the patch.... this is ridiculous and punishes people who already farmed arch.

    I dont get it, stop crying - Its still not worth it for me to solve the 6k+ fragments I have in my backpack...

    Those Artifacts seem horribly overpowered O.o Havent done much Arch yet because lets be honest: waste of time if you dont enjoy it.
    I do oldschoolraids for gold but if the items are only halfway frequent (the 20-50g ones) then this does give you a lot more money than any other thing in game.

    Its like gambling with time....

    Those rings are still not gonna drop every time you make a artifact.

    But Tol'vir fragments on the other hand, are a nice source of income.
    If you dont want any of its rares.

    So 1180g atleast in my bags.

    Great, NOW they buff the gray prices when I'm done with the silly profession... that's probably 2-3k gold right there. Luckily I'm not gold-starved, but still a slight annoyance One must wonder why the prices weren't like this to begin with, though.
