Fire Hawks and Patch 4.1 Mounts/Pets
The first build of Patch 4.1 already added a couple of mount and companion pets to the game and it's time for a small update with models screenshots and a video of the fire hawk mounts!

  • Savage Raptor Summons and dismisses a rideable Savage Raptor. 1.5 sec cast
  • Swift Zulian Panther Summons and dismisses a swift Zulian panther. 1.5 sec cast



We don't really have a lot of information on drop locations but we know a few things:


  • Savage Raptor will be a WoW TCG reward but doesn't have any model for the moment.
  • Amani Dragonhawk is also included in this patch and is also supposed to be a WoW TCG Reward but doesn't look like it has any final model either.
  • Nightsaber Cub will be a WoW TCG rewards but other versions of the panther cubs will be available through questing/rare drops apparently.


The MMO Report
Let's face it, monday would suck without the MMO Report. (And damn, Casey managed to pronounce Boubouille without screwing up. This guy is my hero)

    Pretty sure the firehawks are going to get their own animations. Kind of like how the Tree of Life is a bit less Orcish now.

    Not really. As the mounts' speed adapts to your riding skill since 4.0, there's now a variety of armorless cats to choose from if you're Alliance. And as a Horde you won't be able to get the Winterspring Saber afaik... But that's the point for me: Horde characters can get a cat mount again. Now my BE paladin will ride a tiger exactly as her human counterpart does (it's Winterspring there, since mid-BC ). And the fact that it has no armor makes it even better for me.

    Read like 8 pages and, lol, isnt there any WoW veteran left, that was playing since launch? To point out that this panther mount is an exact carbon copy of classic night elf black epic mount? Just like that. Those very few people that have it are going to be EXTREMELY annoyed and pissed off. Because a mount like that is usually like the only one on server, and now everyone and their dog are gonna be riding it. Poor fellas. Im feeling happy that i have a white version of it. Yes, no stripes, no silly armor, it's the best tiger mount in game imo ;] For all this years i wished that i bought the black one too, but now im happy i didnt.. Getting 1k gold back the days was quite a china-farmer work. Worse than getting 100k now.

    There is only one mount per raid meta now, no 10 man and 25 man versions.

    On the PTR currently you can get the cub, the amani hawk mount, and the novelty item Fools Gold, from the TCG card code redeemer guy in booty bay, just go there and choose the bottom option, all 3 are free, to get the first 2 click on the dragon one, and they go into your bags, to get the fools gold click on the war of the ancients which is 1 up from dragon one, and its only 1 on that list you can get without a code

    So there you go, now you can fly around SW or Org with a 1 new mount...enjoy

    No. It's more or less people with good taste pointing out how much these things suck (see also: sparkle pony) and people with bad taste not caring what Blizzard offers them.

    I love how they reuse everything. Now that epic mount will suck... and i have one. This was the last straw. If they add my old school mount again i will never renew my account

    Starting with yourself. The model is not something exclusive from skeletons or skins, they contain both of these things. The skeleton is your starting point, your first layer, and after you're skeleton is completed you add the next layer which is of course the skin. This of course is a very basic introduction to these things, but hopefully it'll keep tards like yourself from claiming people need to be educated about anything here.

    It is in fact highly accurate to call the fire hawk mounts a re-skinned proto drake.

    How dare you, Blizzard. How dare you use an old animation skeleton to mock up the model for your new mount, a flying mount with essentially identical requirements to the one you are using as its base. (Two wings, two legs, and a head with a mouth.)

    I demand that you use the absolute most difficult means of creating anything. Any time you make a new drake or dragon or horse, I demand that you create new animation skeletons from scratch for each and every one before working on the animations. Tweaking existing skeletons is nothing but lazy, you bastards.

    I demand that you release 100% fully realized models to the public test server before a large chunk of the content that goes along with it is even ready to be tested.

    The panther cubs are adorable, gonna get one. The firehawks made me jizz, especially the green one, it is so sexy. I'd want all the mounts, cept the panther tbch, same model and color as the old NE one, while horde can get it, and will be first ally mount horde can get, i still kinda dont want it, but others look awesome....especially that beryl firehawk, it is so sexy!!!
