Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

Even if they impent this like maybe 0.00001% wow population will use it. In other words they are losing money and time in this.

All you people are cheapskates. It's insane. We're talking about like 3-5 dollars. Hahahah! I laugh in the face of 3-5 dollars.

Hilarious. Why doesn't everyone complaining in this thread about paying for something, stop being so cheap. Remember Blizzard is a business too, not your local YMCA, giving out free swimming lessons.

Oh and a reply of the quote from the blizzard ceo or rep in 2008 that said they won't nickle and dime players because they don't want the feeling of betrayal .... I'll just remind you that this game is run by activision now and is being systematically destroyed by this greedy corporation.... and as much as I like to believe that the founders fundamentals hold true today as they did in 2008 (a whopping 3 years) I'm sad to say that it is not... and it's things like this that get corporations plastered on consumerist.com... like I'm about to do right now.

Blizzard also hasn't stated whether or not it will be a subscription or a one time payment, so not sure where people are getting the subscription idea.
Actually they did, right there in that release.

Premium-based = premium services; the same space that their Mobile AH/Guild Chat features occupy. They used the same language when they started talking about the mobile guild chat... that it'd be premium-based.

It's not the price, it's the principle of the thing. Also your avatar doesn't lend yourself well to being taken seriously.

Haha! Premium, priceless, even for your Blizzard. Why not just go all the way and turn WoW into a f2p? I bet you'd make even more $$$ than running a subscription based game. You'd kill lotro/EQ2 with one stone. Anyway just finding a "friend" on another server through a dungeon is close to impossible. Then i guess the whole point with this system is to let players group *regardless* of server/battlegroup. Which would be a huge step forward. I think they need to ditch the whole "battlegroup" aspect of the game entirely.

While we're at it Blizzard. Let us random for raids and get insane rewards for doing the "impossible". Why stop the players from at least trying to do it? It's their time and virtual currency. Of course you might not like it because there is a possibility that it could work ie making raids more popular amongst casuals? Yeah, that would be a bad thing considering that they would see how shallow the "end-game" really is... But beside that point - go for that. Might actually bring some "fun" and "challenge" to the game which it is lacking badly.

Blizzard wants us to pay extra for in-game features, fine. Make the crap subscription version that we have now free then. Because the way I see it I'm already paying them money for these kind of stuff.

I'm fairly sure Blizzard's bean counters disagree with you or else they wouldn't be moving forward with it.

More demagogy, really? I can accept people attacking the "premium" part of the feature, but using to attack something else is nothing but pure demagogy that has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Character Transfers \ Name Changes \ Faction Changes are considered premium services. They aren't subscription based. :P

    yup. i pay $15 monthly.

Lol @ being able to do this but they can't do crossrealm BOA's.

The only way I would pay for this is if you could form a 10man raid cross-server. That would be worth it.
