Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

I wish people would stop using this "slippery slope" arguement on why this is so terrible. Just because something can happen, doesn't mean it will. Stop jumping to the conclusion that you will eventually have to pay for raids or items. Middle ground does exist, stop freaking out.

Then Blizzard might as well charge you a measly 3-5 dollars for every single feature they implement. Then the game will have most of its features in a cash shop, just like Lord of the Rings Online, as well as a monthly fee.
Blizzard are trying to have their cake and eat it too, don't let them.

Agreeing on what 99% of the people have said here :P. I wouldn't use the service even if it was free, but it's more the "premium" word that bothers me.

As if our monthly/3/6 monthly fee isn't enough, with us also paying for expansions, and in my case special edition expansions (I treat myself to them cuz I play WoW a lot), and that's still not enough? WoW! I can't imagine that they're struggling to get enough money when they have twice the amount of subscribers than there are people in my country (Denmark)... It just screams GREED.

I hate to keep jumping onto the Activision Hate Train, but they aren't exactly known for their track record of free content and customer service. This is a bad step in that direction, and whether or not it will continue in that direction, only time whill show.

Well its not exactly not JUST the price.

We're already paying £120 a year just to have access to the game. Another £5 a month would increase that drasticly to £180. That's almost £200 a year on -one- game, and in this economic downturn that really isn't a viable price to be charging customers - especially when high production value "F2P" MMOs like GW2 are coming out.

    Two things:
    - I will not use it if it's a premium service. Ever.
    - I treat the very fact something like that is regarded by Blizzard as meriting an extra fee as a clear signal WoW is not for me anymore, at least while the management showing such greed.

They're also one-time uses as well. You pay for a character transfer, and it happens just that one time. You don't gain access to the feature to use whenever you so desire...

NCSoft they are not; they've proven that already.

Paying for pets got to this didn't it? I think it's not wrong to think that way now.

No reason that you can't just pay to tack this onto the RealID feature, or unlock it. You people and your assumptions and doomsday theories.

So let me understand: WoW is losing subscribers and one of the possible ways to retain players could be to implement cross realm groups.
But they make that a paid service, with a good chance to piss off more players that could possibly quit?!?
And they wonder why they're bleeding subscriptions?

Sadly most people pay real money for mounts, non combat pets so this will work too...

I am probably a minority here but I actually look forward to this service. The whole "premium" thing doesn't bother me. Just remember that Blizzard doesn't have to offer this to us, they could just say if you want to play with your real life friends you can re-roll on their server or pay the realm transfer fee.
