Patch 4.2 - Justice and Valor Points Rewards
The latest PTR patch updated the Justice and Valor Points vendors and we finally know what to expect from them in the next patch. A couple of important things:

  • Old epic ilvl 359/"Valor" gear is now available from the Justice Points vendor at the same prices.
  • "Old" rare/Justice Points gear is still for sale at the same price.
  • When Patch 4.2 is released, your existing Valor Points will be converted to Justice Points.
  • Normal versions of Bastion of Twilight, Blackwing Descent, and Throne of the Four Winds will be nerfed and will only reward Justice Points.

Anti Ninja Loot System
I think what you want is a system that keeps people from rolling on the gear you want because you don't believe they deserve it to the same degree you do. There are already restrictions in place that keep people from rolling on items they can't use. We don't want to begin restricting what people can roll on based on current spec, because that's not a black or white situation, which is how the system would need to be set up to work how you'd like.

There are some surefire ways to avoid or seriously cut down on situations like this, but it should be understood that if you enter into Dungeon Finder your rolls can go up against the rolls of someone else, regardless if you think you should get preference or not.

If you're looking for a certain item, I'd let the group know before the first pull and ask if anyone else is going to roll need on it. If nothing else it'll show everyone your intent, and put anyone on display who (at the consensus of the group) isn't playing by what you'd consider to be fair.

[...] To bring one more to the table (or reiterate one, I haven't read all 20 pages), and it's one that is a big reason why the system works as it does: if only tanks can roll on tank gear, then it becomes really hard for anyone else to build up the gear they need to be able to tank. We would end up with a bunch of undergeared tanks ("Sorry guys, but this is the only way I can get armor,") or worse, fewer tanks in the system overall because nobody can get gear. People would be forced to gear for healing or tanking through other means because they wouldn't be able to move fluidly from leveling as DPS to Dungeon Finder and begin acquiring the gear they need to fulfill their role. Or, the Light forbid, one day someone decides they want to try healing or tanking and needs to begin building a set.

At some point systems become so 'helpful' that they're a detriment. For that reason we have to reach a point where we're making sure we're stopping the majority of negatives, but not squeezing the egg of problems so hard that we create four messier ones. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

I think the most interesting question that nobody raised was the JP/VP to HP/CP conversation. For example, if I had 2000 Valor could I turn them into Conquest, let 4.2 drop and then switch them back to Valor? Same for JP to HP.

What about the dungeon finder? Is it still rewarding the same VP/JP as before?

They addressed this before Cata came out. VP will convert to JP, if this puts you above the cap, it all converts, but you won't gain anymore until it falls below the cap again.

If you see a hunter using 2 weapons, they're doing it wrong.

Agreed - why bother with all that art if you can't even see them because they constrict your camera. Based on his size all you see is his legs in heroic mode.

Conquest will be turned into Honor @ 4.2 just as Valor and Justice.
Not to mention Conquest can't be turned into Valor anyway

Blizzard needs to be consistent with their ranged slot. Since their change, every relic user has enjoyed an easy to get stat stick with a socket, while clothies, warriors, and rogues need to either pray for a lucky drop or if available buy the wand/thrown from the vendor with stats equal to a relic MINUS the socket. At this point we're essentially missing out on 40 to 67 points in a primary stat.

No blizz the 1000 dps on wands doesn't make up for the lack of a socket.

Nice how Blizz debates about not to change the loot system,
but is not even thinking of a simple, working alternative:
Don' let other class roles role on loot unless there are either no persons of the class role for that
item or all players of that role have rolled greed/disenchant/didn't roll at all.
That would be a fair solution, still allowing people to gear up.

But such a dynamic loot system would probably hard to implement and must be charged for by some sort of premium service, not, Blizzard?

Wotlk new player? I have nightmares of ´hey guys, who wants to run Kara tonight?'
How is even bad? What is the difference between that and running 5men heroic/troll dung over and over?
WoTLK old tier contents are abandoned due to different currencies and item level inflation, while alts had to run trial of crusader 4 time per week, that is what I'd call a nightmare.

I don't get any idea. Why the price for the blue rares stays the same as now we could buy the epic 359?
    What's the point?

378 Relic Melee Relic Doomflame Fetish 1,250 VP

I assume this is a typo and that it's really 700VP like the other relics? Otherwise a melee is ready to rage on the Blizzard forums

You misunderstand how class balancing is being done, or ignore it. Class dps (or healing or whatever) is balanced on how the classes actually work, not on some weird "this is the dps they would have if they had better gear than exists". Yes, some classes maybe get 40-67 points less in a primary stat, but those classes are balanced around the dps they do without those 40-67 points. Basically, you get 40-67 less stats, but one of your main spells get to do 0.5% (or whatever the number is) more damage than it would have without those 40-67 points. If they added those 40-57 more stats to the classes you mention, they would also have to nerf them some other way to compensate.

The whole point of "balancing" is to allow different classes to be at least somewhat different, yet in the end be equal. They don't have to be identical to be equal.

There is too much homogenization as it is. Let different classes be different (while still balanced).
