Void Storage and Transmogrifier - Patch 4.3 Teasing?
A teaser on the official Warcraft Facebook Page hints at two new types of NPCs coming in a future patch, most likely Patch 4.3: the Transmogrifier and Void Storage NPCs.

"Transmogrifier" seems to hint at a way to change the appearance of something, the first thing coming to my mind is either a way to change the look of your items (it was experimented in the past with things such as Darkspear Overcloak but dropped later). I guess it could also be a way to change facial/body features on characters.

The "Void Storage" is probably ... well, another kind of storage? Or a high-tech magic trash can.

Transmongerfier could imply that you can change your "skin" from the old skin to the new skin they're releasing?

If i'm right it was said that 4.3 would be the biggest patch ever, well what would be bigger then adding new char models, and that the transmongerfier gives acces to this.

While I admit that I am at a loss for what a Transmogrifier will end up being in WoW terms, I am certain that it will NOT be a way to re-texture our armor.

There are two levels of gear status symbolism in WoW, models and textures. A new model lets you indicate to others that you are up to date with the current content (both PvP and PvE). Textures are Blizzard's way of letting you show off your raiding or PvP prowress.

There is an entire set of PvP gear each season available at high ratings in 3v3/5v5/RBGs that has no stat difference from the conquest gear available to everyone. It even uses the same model. The only difference is the texture applied to the model.

If we were allowed to re-color/re-texture our armor, Blizzard would need to then compensate by creating four sets of models each tier (2 each for pvp and pve) rather than simply using different textures to differentiate between normal/heroic raiding or regular/elite pvp.

I think it would be great if they did that, but I really doubt it will happen.

But why? Why not just make it a simple options toggle? If blizz did it and charged 1,000G to use then most people would cry foul. If it cost 1G, people would question why it had to be a vendor in the first place.

my guess is Void Storage is maybe account wide storage, i.e you can put in armour on your orc on hellfire realm, log in to your human on frostmane and pick up the armour from the void storage, as for transmogrifier, i'd say it changes armour and weapon trim colour and tint ect.

Not "biggest patch ever" but biggest since the cataclysm patch. I doubt any patch will ever be larger than when Ulduar was released.

now that's what they meant by biggest content patch. you can store all kinds of content in your void vault thingy. great

    Ulduar was a big raid.
But I think 3.2 was larger, with a raid, whole new set of dailies, small new zone, new instance, revamp of the heroic system for raiding.

/paranoid speculation.Anyone thought of downloading the image then feeding it into bruteforcing it with steghide/other Steganography program to see if there's any hidden data _inside_ the image ?

Say grab the purl script from

    http://cypherround.blogspot.com/search?q=steghide

Then grab and install steg hide , make a long list of possible passwords and just brute forcing it ?

I hope so too. Transmogrifier is something that changes appearance. But appearance of what? Hopefully it is an armor changer, since I'd go nuts if I could go back to sporting T6 looking gear. Best Druid set ever.

Well, since Blizzard likes to take the idea's implemented in upcoming MMO's and use them "first" I would say that the void storage is a place to store account bound items/gold for simple use across all characters on the same account (Like guildwars/guildwars 2). As for the transmogrifier, guildwars 2 had talked about a system in which you can take armor that you had before (and really liked the look of) and change your current armor to have the same appearance as the cooler armor and have the same stats as the better armor. So for example, lets say you LOVE the T10 Warrior shoulders and you get T11 and hate the look of it but are forced to wear it cause it's better. You can go to a transmo and say hey, I like T10 appearance, so gimme. And presto you have shiny new T11 stats with the look of the T10. Pretty innovative stuff really, if only they thought of it.
