Firelands Raid Changes Incoming

Before patch 4.3 is released, we want groups who are working on Heroic-difficulty content to be able to get as close to Ragnaros as possible, and we want players who are tackling normal progression to be able to experience as many of the encounters as they can. To achieve these goals, we’ll be toning down the difficulty of both normal and Heroic raids through hotfixes in the coming weeks. In general, we plan to reduce health and damage of all raid bosses in both normal and Heroic Firelands by around the same percentage we brought difficulty down for the original Cataclysm raids when Rage of the Firelands (patch 4.2) was released.

We're looking forward to seeing more groups of players face off against the Fire Lord in the weeks ahead. However, before we make these changes, we want to give everyone a final shot at the bosses at their current difficulty level -- so this is a heads up that we’re planning to apply the difficulty hotfixes beginning the week of September 19.

Stay tuned to the Patch 4.2 Hotfixes blog for these and other live updates to the game as they happen.

As someone that came in late to this tier and managed to kill normal Ragnaros for the first time on Sunday (We only raid 2 nights a week) I welcome the change.

I've been playing this game for just under 7 years now and the only tier that I didn't really get to experience was the tier 11 heroic stuff. I like that they are nerfing the content because it allows more people to either progress further with their raiding or even get more people into raiding. (Killing more bosses = enjoyment)

As I'm sure you have seen 25man guilds have been mostly suffering greatly in Cata raiding because 1) 10mans are easier and 2) 25mans are harder to organise/recruit for because of some servers small raiding player pools. If this convinces more people to raid then I'm all for it.

And honestly to all those complaining, learn to have a bit more fun.

There is another reason too. Blizzard have probably tuned Deathwing's lair for a raid that is in full 391's. If people haven't been farming 6/7 HM for at least 4-5 weeks then they wont be geared enough.

Good lord. Are people incapable of NOT complaining about any/every change Blizzard makes? If your time is spent complaining about changes in a video game, you may want to re-evaluate what your existence contributes to the human experience.

meh, my guild is awful so I'm sure they'll still find it hard enough to make me hate them

Looking at the other perspective, it could invite players to come back to raid even with easier content. I know on my server, there is only one 25man guild left. The other three guilds are struggling to get 25 but are stuck doing 10s the past couple months. But that is being too optimistic, these nerfs will make it so it's easier to carry the couple bads in 10 and make it less composition dependent.

Btw, I'm fine with the nerfs since I accepted long and while ago that my server was not top tier and accepted being an "average" raider and raiding guild. No hate here man.

Considering only 2% of raiding guilds ever finished T11, it would make the point that content is being released either a) too fast, or b) too hard for the remaining 98% of raiders. I for one, would not be interested in 12+ month patches, so that being said, I don't mind gradual nerfs, à la ICC.If you couldn't finish the content in almost 3 months, you have to come to grips with the fact that you may not be as good as you think you are. I would wager that 99% of the folks in this thread complaining about how "easy" raiding is or will be, still haven't been able to finish the last tier. Come to grips with your limitations and accept the help Blizzard is giving you in being able to finish Firelands.

Looks like nerfing heroics won't be the last laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJWZSEkCrAM.

ah yes total biscuit the tool who complains about nerfs but has never been in a high end progression guild. and a player that thinks he knows everything about the mage class but in reality only copies what more skilled players have said

The nerfs are quite irrelevant anyway, the majority of the tier twelve heroic content was an absolute joke to begin with. Aside from Ragnaros, anything that was remotely hard was nerfed within a few weeks, allowing the lobotomised masses to kill them and become deluded with their own ability. What is sad is that this sets a precedent for future content, that it is supposed to be a part of everyone's progression path, and not just those who are actually competent enough to defeat the real fight.

So, if I need to not care about what others do, I do need to care about them killing everything fast, because they will say how long can I play?

Interesting... I tought that how long I took to do my business should matter to anyone else.

I don't do heroics at the moment. But I oppose nerfing them. Let elitists and hardcores have some bone to gnaw on!

Boss fights had been reduced to taunt rotations, add phases and the success of them is heavily based on whether or not people kill themselves.Deathwing sounds like a whole new way of presenting a boss... I think that's the sort of thing they need to introduce. It can't just be 'enter room, engage boss'. The scale of the fights seem soo small. I think back to games like Shadow of the Colossus and how epic the fights felt, if they could make the scale of the fights bigger, more unique, I think people will be more drawn into it.
No, besides the fact that there's little left blizz can do with their hotkey and playstyle model that WoW is they've done a descent job keeping the game somewhat fresh these past 7 years. Kungen quit the game because he has non stop been playing hardcore progression as a main tank for 7 FUCKING YEARS. I'm surprised it took him this long to burn out really.

I'm trying to figure out why normal modes even exist at this point. Are they here to buy some time for Blizzard? Are they here so casual players have something to do? If they are, why would you want to nerf hardmodes? It seems not one poster here who is progressing trough HMs is happy with this change. I personally don't care about this change. I'm 6/7 25 HC for some time now and will probably see Ragnaros dead before the end of the tier. But why would you nerf hardmodes? Normal modes give players the opportunity to experience the entire content. They even nerfed those (which are ridiculously easy to begin with, whether you are casual or hardcore). HMs are here to provide some challenge for the other players who are ready tho invest more time in to the game. HC raiders are raiding cause they love to, because of the feeling when you kill a fucking boss after weeks of wiping. While casuals more or less don't care about that part of the game. If they would they, they could just raid more. What Blizzard is doing now is ruining the game for people who progress HMs and making it easier for players that actually just don't care if they kill a HC boss or don't. All in the name of few $. But they just don't get they are not losing players because of this. Their game is old. But that's a story for another topic. Anyway, all in all, low kick Blizzard. Very low.

They should add an ICC style buff in addition to the nerfs.

Stupid, so stupid. Why do this so far before they release the new raid content? So we get to look forward to bosses that just fall over dead when we zone in until the next patch comes out? Sounds like a blast. I'm in one of those guilds that hasn't killed Rag on normal yet and I think this is bullshit.

I see this as really good news for one main reason:

If they are talking about nerfing 4.3 already, then 4.4 (Deathwing raid) really is *much* closer than I thought it was.

I heard talk of PTR in a week or two with patch going live in November but that seemed way too good to be true. This news makes that seem way, way more likely now.

Oh, jeez. So much grumpiness over a game. >.< Those who wanted it to be difficult had their time; what's the matter with letting others get a peek at it, too? You'd think they were just letting the riff raff into Ivy League schools now...

What about a nerf to Heroic T11 so it's easier to convince people to run it and get my trinket?
