Firelands Raid Changes Incoming

Before patch 4.3 is released, we want groups who are working on Heroic-difficulty content to be able to get as close to Ragnaros as possible, and we want players who are tackling normal progression to be able to experience as many of the encounters as they can. To achieve these goals, we’ll be toning down the difficulty of both normal and Heroic raids through hotfixes in the coming weeks. In general, we plan to reduce health and damage of all raid bosses in both normal and Heroic Firelands by around the same percentage we brought difficulty down for the original Cataclysm raids when Rage of the Firelands (patch 4.2) was released.

We're looking forward to seeing more groups of players face off against the Fire Lord in the weeks ahead. However, before we make these changes, we want to give everyone a final shot at the bosses at their current difficulty level -- so this is a heads up that we’re planning to apply the difficulty hotfixes beginning the week of September 19.

Stay tuned to the Patch 4.2 Hotfixes blog for these and other live updates to the game as they happen.

Funny how people picture raiding like something that has a point being achieved a year after the instance has come out. The way I see it, the challenge is the race, not the bosses themselves.

If you didn't get to kill them fast enough before the nerfs, which are a good way, I think, of setting up a "deadline", you weren't good enough to be part of the race or to be at least in the top of it and can try again next tier.

So I guess you finally learned something blizzard made this obvious long ago

You see any ''elitists'' ''qq'', to retake your childish language, about normal mode nerfs? No. They can nerf normals all they want so ''casuals'' can ''see'' it, whats wrong is the heroic nerf. Will you even care about heroics? Your kind won't be able to do them either way.

Except for those, at least, whose guild doesn't raid (but they stay for RL friends), and have to expose themselves to the challenge via PUGs, right?

I managed to get BWD down prenerf just via PUGS, but VERY few people willing yet to accept you to FL without achi on my server, so only 3/7. So will NEVER get to test myself against those fights how they're meant to be.

    Less than happy.

Only elitists would complain about more people being able to play the game.

I don't even play the game anymore. All I know is that I don't like people that think less people being able to play the game is a good thing. So I'm happy when something that gets them angry happens.

Kind of sad, to be honest - my guild never really got to raid this patch properly, due to half the guild being most time on vacation. We just regrouped now and we wanted to start doing heroics, finally. Guess we'll just do 6/7 in a week :-/

Most of the time, HC mode just adds a few mechanics and more health and damage, but Rag actually adds an entirely unique phase that transforms the boss in a unique way. Blizz probably just wants the players to see one of the most epic encounters they have ever designed the way it was meant to be seen: WITH LEGS!
Which is exactly why they nerfed Heroic Cho'gall and Sinestra in 4.2
Wait a minute, they didn't. And that was even bigger than Ragnaros, not just one new phase, but an entirely new boss. Not only it didn't get nerfed halfway across the tier, it was left alone even after Firelands appeared.
So... what kind of logic is Blizzard using here?

I guess the toggle switch would be nice, but did anyone really use it back in ICC? Nerfing a raid before the new tier releases is pretty much unprecedented. They did it back in ICC, obviously, but that was at the end of an expansion. Why would I bother putting effort into progressing this week when it'll be at least 5% easier next week? I won't.

Elitiest has already done the work...so tune it down for scrubnabs? I'm raiding firelands and i see no difficult AT ALL on normal modes really.

Come to think of it it feels incredibly greedy with nerfs this soon, like they are pushing people through the content to end the expansion sooner than later.

Is anyone really surprised at this point? The game is not meant to be hard at all, that "heroic" dungeons were hard was just a fluke, not the norm, Blizzard is milking WoW for all it's worth.I'm fairly sure the next xpack will be the last one for WoW

You're wrong. Race is part of it, but the challenge to kill a boss, and then the exhiliration that you've done it, that's why people raid. Racing is a nice bonus.

No serious raider will want an easy boss.

A rag nerf would be uncalled for. They can do whatever they want with other bosses, though I find it stupid to nerf heroic. If heroic's too hard for you, then you should do normal, that's why there's the 2 difficulties in the first place. /shrug

It's the hardmodes. It's far too soon to nerf hardmodes.

People are still progressing, Hell I'm still 2/7hm.

It's unfair to those who are actually working on it and enjoying progressing. Come the change we'll be 6/7 in no time.

Kind of both ways on this one, I got a late start on this Patch and want to get the kills the legit way. But I also wanna get it over with because I know i'm going to be here to get a good jump on 4.3.

Totally, nerf the normal modes, but the hardmodes, seriously?

That's exactly what I said earlier, I don't care about the first 6 bosses, I just hope Ragnaros won't get nerfed even more since it's the last piece of challenge left in the Firelands.

And of course, nobody likes an easy boss and I'm always the first to pull off some nerdscreams after an important kill, but the sooner the boss is killed, the nerder they get.

I think it is fairly obvious what is going on, blizzard is desperate to placate customers to prepare in time for 4.3 and release of other titles. Imagine how bad it would be if on the final conference call Blizzard would proclaim "we lost over a million subscribers for the first time ever in the history of wow, but that is ok because we have value added services and mists of pandaria in the pipeline" "Kindler, gentler" GC plus this points to a really bad situation subscription wise.

Short, sweet and the point. Saved me the work.

Why are you angry? You've had yonks to clear Firelands. If you have cleared Firelands, your gearing up for Deathwing just became easier.
