Firelands Changes Impact
Blizzard made major changes to Firelands a few times during Patch 4.2 (July 26th and Sept. 20th) to allow more players to see the Firelands content. We take a look at just how many more players were able to down Heroic Ragnaros and clear Normal Firelands. Data was looked at for over 2.7 million level 85 characters, most of them being in the US.

Class balance for characters with the Heroic Ragnaros achievement was also graphed. The Heroic Firelands Boss Kill Ease graph displays the percentage of characters that have killed each boss, provided they have killed at least one of the Heroic Firelands bosses.

I like how content post nerf was cleaned by only a 5,08% of the tested population post epic nerf. One word: scary....Hopefully we will be around 10% for normal mode by december.

It looks like you've more chance to get Rivendale charger mount than killing H.Rag even after nerf. Funny
To be fair many of those characters could be alts that aren't used for raiding.

When the DB is out of maintenance mode tomorrow maybe I can pull together some more stats that will give you an idea of what percent of people that have downed a boss this expansion and played in the last month are able to clear Firelands.

interesting with all the raid content they add only about 5% of the wow population raids.

MAAAAAN!!! That image of the Rogue's home makes me so mad we don't have Player Housing!

That home right there would be EXACTLY what mine would look like! Right down to CTS and the other dragon blade from BWL on the wall! /sniff...

I so wish we had player housing...

That's only part of it. Burst dmg on elementals is extremely valuable, on top of the class being amazing already.

I don't know but that number somehow sounds awful low to be honest. If that is true the number of active players must be ridiculously low by now.

hehe, i'm still hunting for maladath!!!

The stats just mean that both normal and heroic need to be nerfed by a good 20-30% to make them playable by people, who are not 400+ APM hyper kids.

I personally wanna know how more people have done H Rhyolith than H Staghelm, whenever we do H Rhyolith it's just a major rng pain in the ass, whereas with H Staghelm it's simple, straightforward, and doesn't have a phase where you die in 5 seconds. Then again, that chart doesn't distinguish between 10 or 25 (I do 10s, 25s can suck it), so unless H Rhyolith is easier on 25man...

Why would you play a game where the sole purpose of and the selling points are to make your character more powerful to take on even more powerful foes?

"Yeah, Blizzard. Hi. Us bads only want to play our character up to a certain point, and then complain and cry on forums, cause we honestly aren't smart enough to figure out simple mechanics of moving our characters left or right during encounters and staying out of fire, so when you make raid encounters, make them appear difficult and scary, but don't actually ya know make them hard, asking us to push four buttons and move left and right is too much and too stressful, and oh make legendaries drop off trash mobs, cause like we pay $15."

Statistics seem faulty to me. These statistics say only 99 characters had killed Heroic Ragnaros by August 9th, while in truth even before August more than 100 characters had killed it (5 guilds).

This actually shows that Blizzard isn't even close to catering to casuals as much as many would have us believe. Based on the figures in the graph and the number of people in the data pool:
    • Only 0.1% of the 2.7mil population killed Heroic Rag AFTER the nerf....
    • Onyl 5% of the population killed all bosses in Firelands on normal. Mind you ONLY 5% on normal. How can this even be called catering to the casuals.
    • And going by these numbers, apperently only imba people visit MMO-Champ, seeing there so many more than the above percentage would have you expect that call the raids too easy.
    • Or my previous point is flawed and a lot of people on MMO-Champ are lying about their experience with the difficulty

    Err.... no.

Did you guys read the graphs?
~135,000 characters have defeated normal firelands, i.e. 7/7.

Judging by my realm, if you count those who are 1/7 or more it would be a much, much higher percentage.

Not entire population is in the graph. The sample group is 2.7 million.

Think about what you just said.. Do you realize that most hc fights (the harder ones at least and esp raggy) is not really about being madskilled at pressing buttons. It's all in the details of how you refine your tactic. This ain't starcraft, you can only do as much as the global cd allow, which in best case scenario is 60 APM + a few off the gcd.

Anyways, nice to see some graphs! Nerfs did what it was supposed to do. Letting more ppl see content and making farm nights faster.

Most guilds (or at least guilds that I've noticed) go kill H Shannox first, then go to H Rhyolith, then Alysrazor or Domo third. As far as H Rhyolith being easier on 25 man, I thought that was chuckle worthy.

2376 characters!! FFS That is awfull by all means and shows how retarded blizzard's currrent raiding policy. Give back ICC times at least people were having tons of fun back there!

Also says that it's only a 2.7mil sample.
