Statistics: Class Balance Follow Up
You asked for it, so here is the class balance at each of the different Valor Points achievement levels. Keep in mind that the higher we raise the bar, the smaller and nosier the sample becomes. The data from 50,000 Valor Points is unlikely to provide any statistically useful insight. Let me know if there are other things you would like to see in the future.

Sample Sizes
  • Any: 6,200,000
  • 5k: 1,800,000
  • 25k: 254,000
  • 50k: 1,200

If you have been looking to purchase a new hard drive recently, you might have noticed that prices have tripled from what they were just a month or two ago. This is due to the recent floods in Thailand, which affected all of the major hard drive manufacturers and their suppliers. It is going to be 6-12 months before prices come back down closer to their previous levels, as some of the factories still have several feet of water inside.

Now is a good time to buy a SSD, as the next generation is a good while away and the current prices are fairly flat. AMD's Bulldozer arrived to universally negative reviews, citing excessive power usage and heat output and very poor single threaded performance. They are working on another stepping which may help the problem slightly, but don't expect any significantly improvements on the design until the middle of 2012 with the arrival of Piledriver. New AMD GPUs are rumored to be coming in Q1 2012 if you are thinking about upgrading.

Make sure to keep your AMD and Nvidia drivers up to date.

Puppy and Dolphin
Overclocked Puppy will outperform Dolphin when multiple threads are in use (Not WoW) and come close in most other cases.
Mix and match anything but the CPU/Motherboard combo between Puppy and Dolphin. Mix and match anything between Dolphin and Narwhal.

    Oh god please don't nerf us. I blame the ability to fill all roles (tank/healer/dps) and the classic D&D "Paladin in shining armor is fucking awesome" concepts.

    Edit: Also please note on the graph that I've raided almost every week since the start of Cata and only have 43k Valor. The people with 50k+ are literally a SUPER SUPER small sample size.

    How come the mouse from the dolphin section is more expensive that the mouse from the narwhal section? I thought the sections were to group together items that aim for a particular price/quality range, or am I misunderstanding it?

    It is usually cheaper, but hopefully everyone recognizes that all of those Peripherals/Monitors are interchangeable.

    Hah, every "pure dps class" has more "low amount" than "high amount" VP characters of which the oposite is true for hybrids.Not really too surprising if you think about it, but who would think about it that way? - Definately interresting to look at.

    Hmmm wonder how many valor I would have if I continued maxing it out every week even though I didn't need anything else, and the valor boe market is kind of bad on my server. Currently 34k valor total.

    Around 43k points here currently, I know i missed the cap quite a lot towards the end of T11 though. I'm usually quite an achievement fiend, but this is one of those where I'm just like meh, it'll get there.

    This was my thought too. Hadn't seen all the models used.. very disappointed. Though MoD model is still great.

    Guess they're trying to push through Cata asap.

    Interesting how it's only the single role classes that have the downward trend. The only exception being Death Knights, which could be explained by the fact that they start at level 55, making them a very popular class for alts (who are obviously less likely to have a lot of valor than a main).
