You proved exactly what the poster said. An RPG is all about leveling, progressing your character, etc. It is not about being insta-leveled and then looking up a spec, running LFR, and staring at all your welfare purples.

Ah, ha-ha. WoW is really killing itself now. I have long said the only thing that will kill wow is wow itself, through all of their mistakes, this is the first big nail in the coffin. Fun to watch and also a little sad after having praised them for so long.

I quit in WotLK, this would give me a free upgrade to Cata & realm transfer. I could get that 10th level 80 and seven free days for NO MONEY. It is sooooo tempting

lol hard at people who don't play this game but come to forums dedicated to this game.

This seems both utterly disgusting to me and yet brilliant all the same.

I'm not sure what to think of it. It feels like blizzard giving me the puppy eyes "pretty pretty please give us your money? We'll give you a free level 80 and everything!"

it seems they're getting further and further into devaluing the leveling experience because people don't want to do it more than once. The point of the leveling experience is to learn some things about how to play your class, which it already fails at, so I guess this can't make people worse raiders. I'm imagining someone getting insta-80'd with a new class and wondering "derp what do all these buttons do?" at the time of queing for a dungeon. It'll be worse than DKs.

now i can see the benefits of this, but it seems to be riddled with flaws.
first off, can you imagine the "friends/ work colleagues/ family members" that people will have recruited, they got to lv 40 fairly harmlessly out the way, and now the person who origenally recruited them or got them in wants that shiney mount. OK, so these people with little or no game experience are going to be handed a lv 80 character. with no clue over what their doing, thrown into cata content (for free which yea seems pretty decent) and off they go.
The problem then is these people are going to be utterly clueless, and in a situation where their close to max level and basically going to be able to make game play for other people unenjoyable.
i really hope theres some sort of "refresher" course when these chars go live to at least teach people the basics of the class they use, its the whole DK issue over again (which you still see around lv 65-75 a hell of a lot of DK's who are utterly clueless about wow in general nevermind the Dk class) i could imagine if this became a problem it doing more harm than good.

Added to that, the free Xfer, it kind of sets a bad image when people who quit after a few months get free realm Xfers, but people who have paid 7 years of subs can be left on dead servers to rot with no FCM off (Burning steppes Eu for example is one of these servers. theres many more)

TL;DR : looks good but needs some sort of refresher so people know how to play these free lv 80 toons.

I haven't had a working account since June. So I totally qualify for this. Except that I have Cata, and 10 level 85s on my main server. *sigh*

that's pathetic haha, I guess the Q1 results didn't look so well so far.

As a former serious player who mostly quit because the classes got boring and after leveling more than 2 characters there is just no incentive to sit through it again, this is a great idea. * *Just the thought that not my random bank-alt-warlock can be my main in a day or so almost makes the whole experience worth it. *The boost is an issue to some extent, but mostly because it is not fair to other players, not because people won't learn their class. * * There is little actual class learning that goes on spamming random dungeon ques on the way up anymore, the real learning takes place at max level, this is reasonable. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * They should just make it so that after a certain point of experience (not sure how its measured) you have the OPTION to start a character at lvl 80. *So many people left the game just because it naturally aged away from people wanting to level again. * *2 85's and you are really sick of the leveling experience, let alone all the people that have more.

They should give this to those of us who subscribe and continue to subscribe. I would LOVE to get a free level 80 character without having to waste time grinding through Outland and Northrend.
