WoW Stable at 10.2 Million Subscribers
Activision Blizzard's press release states that World of Warcraft is still at 10.2 million subscribers as of 3/31/12. This is the same amount of subscribers from Q4 2011. A few other interesting points:

  • Battle.Net has 10 million users.
  • 1.2 million people bought the Annual Pass.
  • 2 million people played the Diablo 3 open beta.
  • Pre-orders for Diablo 3 have set a new record for Blizzard. This number includes units pre-ordered as part of the Annual Pass promotion, as well as retail and digital pre-orders.
  • Blizzard renewed their license with NetEase for the distribution of World of Warcraft in mainland China, and it will continue for an additional three years following the expiration of the current license agreement.

And these requirements were beatable with pretty shit gear, 2 weeks after heroic modes unlocked.

This game has no challenge whatsoever in raids atm, outside from the guild race between guilds themselves (which is exactly why I'm playing). you're not playing against the content anymore (because you know you'll beat the content regardless very quickly). You're playing against the other guilds and nothing else.

Because it used to be much more? Because I don't like the influence WoW has other other MMOs ? If that price wasn't worth it, I'd stop paying it. I just remember the old times where I actually, you know, enjoyed playing this game.
Well, I optimize my character, I play well with my fellow guildies and I have yet to see anyone down heroic content without many many tries, and still the majority of the playerbase never ever clears heroic content at that. If it was so easy, if it was so faceroll, then 80% of the playerbase would be clearing heroic raid content and having Gladiator titles since that's where the shiniest titles/loot comes from.

Again, the game isn't easy at all. If this game could be called easy, then I would be able to take 10 random people regardless of gear and skill and farm Heroic Ragnaros at this state and get us all shiny mounts, or why not DS? With a good group that knows the encounters, things start to feel easy AND put a long experience from the game on top. That doesn't make the game easy and it certainly doesn't make Vanilla/TBC content harder.

WoW is perfect mmorpg so it will never die.

Sometimes you get bored and take a break but sooner or later you will come back. Other games doesnt have this kind of addiction.

If people don't give a shit about Heroic clears and high pvp ratings, then I have to say it's weird on an entirely new level that they bitch about the game being easy. What do they expect? For the game to be punishing in everything you do? Be it ride from point A to B or play the AH?

Pff, people...it's easier to stand around saying "It's too easy!" than to actually pursue the really hard challenges, that's for sure.
Jesus christ, what do you think they expect? Did you ever play durring TBC or Wrath when a patch came with a new raid? Every guild would kill the first few bosses then get stuck up on the more difficult challenging ones that need some precise execution. The only heroic mode in cataclysm that was like this in any respect was heroic ragnaros, the rest was mindless boss fodder, even DS. Easiest end game ever, I shook my head real hard. This game is too easy for the reasons I want to play it, maybe you have more of a challenge then me and my guild destroying this content, and good for you, enjoy cataching up I guess.

Not everything HAS to be difficult, but wouldn't it be nice if everything were always harder to accomplish? You'd feel bettah aboust it for sure. Set your standards higher!

Your title is incorrect, " Battlenet", has 10.2 mil subscribers, not wow alone. Battlenet includes all of the blizzard games. Have a nice day

People like you make me smile. Go somewhere else with your stupid and homophobic statements. And btw, dont you think the ones who convinced themselves to buy the annual pass will stop playing as soon as it expires?

Cba reading all 23 pages, but did anyone else notice they refer to Titan as an MMORPG not an MMOFPS or just an MMO? Could be a typo/unnecessary complication, but people speculate over far less on these forums.

You know that is entirely an opinion, right? You are posting in a thread WITH PROOF that this hypothetical ship isn't sinking, yet you are still steadfast in your ignorant (or stupid if you continue) ways.

Thinking that DS will last for 6 more months = moronic. Thinking that GW2, a B2P game that promotes itself on being very different AND has GW1 before it, will pose a bigger threat than a Star Wars game did, is also quite optimistic.

I'll be playing both though, so hopefully GW2 will be a bigger success than SWTOR and also a lot better made.

I loved WoW, but I just stopped loving it. I wanted to keep loving it, I just didn't.

I feel like I've been spending the last year going back and forth with my ex-girlfriend, with her telling me she loved me and wanted me back, but changing herself in all the wrong ways. I still love her, and I know she's great, but we're just not right for each other anymore. Now she finally found a great new boyfriend, and I'm happy for her. And now I can move on without thinking that she should even be trying to get me back.

Sincerest best wishes to all of you still playing. I hope it lasts forever!
After I read this I noticed they were tears im my eyes , so melodramatic :P.

I will feel just fine, just like that time I've waited for WotLK or like the time I've waited for Cata.

GW2? It doesn't have a subscription fee, people still can play WoW, or even both. Seeing it as a direct threat is silly.

i'm guessing he meant counting it as sales for diablo III, not subs since that would be counting the same money twice in a way. the sub plus the game.
i personally don't care just saying.

Do you have proof that it won't? Yes i'm assuming but so are you, If DS does last much longer people will get burnt out even more so than they already are, the only thing that will keep the numbers up will be the fact that people are locked into a 12 month contract.

The way I see it Guild wars 2 will have a big impact on the mmorpg genre.

Again, I still don't see 80% of the playerbase downing heroic content and having it on farm. Not until the next expansion can one expect to see lots of guilds with heroic DS/Firelands clears. I see many guilds on 1-2-3 Heroic down in DS but despite the buff not able to progress further. How is that different from TBC or Wrath? Seriously, I trust my 2 brothers more than random people on this one.

I have very high standards, I'm also realistic and won't bark up the wrong tree when I want something.

This makes me very happy it proves what I have been saying for a long while. When you make the content too difficult people leave in droves. Notice what happened this quarter LFR, the new easy HoT Dungeons etc and people stayed.

I really like seeing the numbers back up the fact these are the changes the players want, and by that I mean the majority of the players, not the minority that whines about everything being too easy.

Oh and I guess this means WoW is not dead, as some people had predicted that this quarter because of LFR they would loose millions of subs etc...
