All Races Available in Patch 5.0.4

We want the entire World of Warcraft community to be able to embrace their inner goblin, blood elf, worgen, draenei, or pandaren from the moment they step foot into the world of Azeroth.

Now, the only hard part will be choosing a name. Who will you be next?

Just to be clear on the announcement, we're making it possible for people to create a character of any race, regardless of what expansions you've purchased. So if you only have the original game (which now has The Burning Crusade included), when patch 5.0.4 hits you'll be able to create goblin and worgen characters as well. And, once Mists of Pandaria is released, you'll be able to create pandaren characters, regardless of whether or not you own Mists of Pandaria.

So it says all races, what about though all classes? Just because Pandaren become available for play regardless if you have MoP or not, does this include the new monk class?
No, you'll need to upgrade your World of Warcraft license to Mists of Pandaria in order to unlock the monk class. The same is true for leveling from 85-90 and gaining access to the continent of Pandaria.

Do you have reading issues? This guy states it pretty clear ,and even blizzard states clear if you would use just a bit of brain. >.>

So nothing new in 5.04 patch except new talents and Theramore scenario? Since I'm rerolling I guess I'll take my take and play Gw2 for a month only.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if they announce soon that Wrath will be included in the base game along with TBC, to keep he barrier to entry the same.

No, it means if you don't own Catacylsm, you can still make a goblin and worgen.

On September 25th, you can make a Pandaren even if you don't own Mists.

So will we have an 11th slot on a server to actually make a panda?

My only question about this is will the BC and Cataclysm starting zones be included with this unlock? They would have to for this to work, but it isn't specifically mentioned. Either way, excellent decision by Blizzard. This is paving the way for a new retail version of WoW to be released that contains Vanilla + Expansions that isn't an overpriced Battle Chest.

This is a great idea and makes perfect sense. Most new players will buy the expansions one by one, so without this change they'd have an 85 main of another race by the time they'd be able to try a Pandaren - and who wants to switch mains at that point?

Neither would I, especially since I opened up 3 additional accounts recently...1 week after I did it, they had the fire sale too. *Raises fist angrily at Blizzard*.

I love how GW2 trolls still come to MMO champion to harass WoW players. Anyways, see ya in MOP after GW2 fails.

Meh. Doesnt really do anything for me. I would be some-what excited if they were allowing a race change into a panda before MoP hits, but im pretty sure that is not the case.

"See honey, you don't need 3 more expansions to play your panda! 100 $ is a bit much to drop on a single game, and then we have to pay 15$ a month as well!"

"But MOOOOOOOOOOmmm i won't be able to play a kung fu class!"

"Now now sweety, i will buy you the expansions later, don't argue with me."

It just had to be said. It's an obvious ploy to lure in people who would be interested in pandas since it only needs vanilla wow to gain access to one. That said, i love pandas and stuff, and i will be playing MoP SO DON'T REPORT ME BROS.

I think this is a non-news event. Anyone here at the glowy part of the venn diagram for THESE three circles?

1> Does not have an account at Cata level
2> Maintains an active subscription and plays WoW
3> Wants to play a worgen or goblin

I mean, if your account isn't upgraded, to me that says you don't really want to play the game. I'm sure someone somewhere has an excuse- like some kid whose mom won't buy them cata but really likes worgen- but I bet he's not reading this site right now.

So we get pandas before mop?

On topic, it's an awesome change. There's no fun logging in and seeing the races you really feel drawn to be greyed out! This way people can choose the race they want, rather than wait or pick a race they do not want as much. Good call Blizz, as always!

Calling the new xpac "kung fu panda" how fresh and original, and completely supported by facts....

Seriously, if you do not like the new xpac no one is forcing you to buy it, play it, watch videos of it, read sites that have news about it and so on. Since you where able to navigate to this site, I assume you are able to navigate to other sites of interest, maybe GW2?

New talents, account wide mounts and pets, class and encounter rebalancing, Racial unlock for those not upgraded to expansion level accounts, glyph and other system changes, etc. Theramore may not be released on August 28th and might unlock 1-2 weeks later as pre-expansion events tend to have stages to them.

This doesn't mean that Pandas come on 28th of August.
It also doesn't mean that level 90 characters are available to WoW only players.
    Thanks for clarifying.
    Blizzard sure worded that poorly.

aehm sorry but wow dont get a lot NEW players for a long time now and i dont think this change is made for them - for me it looks like mop dont sell as good as they want and with this change they hope the players with catacaclysm which plan to leave will trie it out and maby stay
