Google Alert when visiting MMO-Champion - Final Update
Earlier today MMO-Champion got flagged as "unsafe" by Google, resulting in a big ass warning message every time you tried to access the site explaining that MMO-Champion will eat your soul. Well good news, MMO-Champion doesn't eat souls!

This is what happened in a nutshell.
  • In the morning an ad network got compromised and ended up serving a malware. (This is a pretty popular/high-end ad network and I'm not sure if I can give away the name without getting my ass kicked. I'll let them do their own communication)
  • We disabled ads as soon as the first warning appeared.
  • MMO-Champion or any of our infrastructure wasn't compromised, this was entirely 3rd party.
  • Since it's 3rd party and it's always better to be safe than sorry, take this as an opportunity to run a good old Malwarebytes Anti Malware scan on your computer.

Obviously we apologize for the inconvenience.

Gonna assume this is why, when I accidentally clicked wowpedia earlier (a site I have bookmarked) it came up as a reported attack site? Seeing as it's a part of the curse network?

I can't guarantee a yes, but it sounds right. Considering all of the sites use the same(ish) adds, they all should have been attacked.

Yep, it appears that this issue affected all of the Curse network sites.

you should be serving the ads internally not hosting the URLs...that way you can check that shit for malware...this is elementary shit...take control of your site by not letting others just drop shit whenever they want unchecked

Remove all ads, and the problem will NEVER happen again....

This is exactly why I feel no remorse for adblocking indiscriminately.

Sorry people that make a living off of MMO-Champion ads, but problems like that are exactly why I use AdBlock. It's not that I don't trust MMO-C, I don't trust the companies serving the ads.
QFT. Besides, it's quite annoying to have half the Internet as an advertising platform. All that blinking, and flashing is retarded.

If anything this would be a good advertisement for Adblock.
