Hearthstone - WoW TCG Game Announced
Blizzard just announced Hearthstone, the online Free to Play WoW CCG Game! More details to come. You can start talking about it in our new Hearthstone forum!

  • Free to play online collectible card game.
  • Opt in to beta in your Battle.net account management!
  • Beta begins this summer, with release this year.
  • Playable on PC, Mac, and iPad.
  • The game will be easy to pick up, but have a good amount of depth and complexity.
  • The board is 3D, with lots of animations to make gameplay more exciting.
  • There will be over 300 cards with the initial launch
  • You can purchase more card packs for roughly $1 per five cards, or slowly earn them through gameplay.
  • There will be Basic and Expert cards, with Expert cards being broken down into categories like Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
  • You’re guaranteed to receive at least one card of rare or better quality per pack.
  • Each card in the pack also has a chance to upgrade to a “Golden” version of the same card.
  • Disenchant cards that you don't want to receive dust, which is used to craft new cards.
  • There is a deck builder, which can build decks for you, or you can build your own.
  • The game will be a 1v1 game using Battle.net matchmaking.
  • Playing will allow you to earn medals every week.
  • You can also play against AI at different levels of difficulty.
  • Any purchases you made during the beta will be credited back to you in the form of new, unopened card packs at launch.

    So... this is the WoW TCG but online. Like how we've got a dozen fansites for online Yugioh matches, or that Steam game for Magic: The Gathering.
    Alright, I guess I can live with that, but... why only the first 9 classes?
    They're 7 months into MOP. I'll grant that they haven't even added Monks to the TCG yet, fine.
    They're 3 expansions into Death Knights, plus the TCG has had Death Knights for 4 years. There's no real excuse there- especially since they have DEATHWING as an available card.
    If they just leave it as is, then when they finally do release other classes to the TCG, it's gonna be a mad rush for packs to construct a new deck equal to what people have had since the start...

    League of Legends allows you to buy champions earlier with Riot points if you do not use the game currency.

    Dota 2 have purely cosmetic items, which you can get in two ways: drop from after a match or buy them earlier on.
    Team fortress 2, you can buy weapons or armor which may give you a advantage one way or the other, as being immune to a spy backstab or being able to control your sentry, which both are basically "Power". But since you can get these items through regular just playing the game or trading, it really doesn't count as pay to win.

    Buying cards in this game (Depends on wherever or not they make exclusive cards to the real money shop or not), really isn't buying power.
    If buying a booster pack in this game counts as buying power, then buying a sniper for Sniper in TF2 counts as pay to win.
    Since the games have ways for you to get the cards through either having to buy them for real money, or free through the ingame currency/Trading systems, it shouldn't be viewed as "Pay to win".

    But yes, you are right. We kinda have to wait and see how they decide to make the shop work. If they make exclusive cards that have a advantage in the game, then yes, pay to win. But if they sell packs or specific cards which all can be gained the regular way, then not pay to win.

    Card games in real however, ARE pay to win....as that's the only way to gain cards. You have to buy enough cards to even play the game, and even there you may have to buy more cards again in order to be competitive. Staying with a basic deck in a tournament really isn't that good of an idea.

    This is not bad, assuming it is free to play. Star Wars Galaxies had a similar ccg minigame, and it was a fun diversion. More interesting than playing pokepets or tillering a garden. It will appeal to some, but definitely not the majority.

    Lets see we didn't get a D3 expansion, SC2 LotV announcement, Warcraft 4 announcement, new IP announcement,Starcraft Ghost being re made or Blizzard All-Stars announcement, but we got a crappy looking TCG looking game....

    I think the issue is that people hyped themselves out of their own fucking anuses over this. Blizzard said it would be "some little thing" and all of a sudden people are expecting some fucking grand AAA title that will revolutionize the industry.

    Free or not. It doesnt look appealing to me. Why would you want to play a card game with heros when you can fight side by side with them in WoW? >

    I think a better idea (IMO) would be a Super Smash Bros kind of game but with popular WoW heros & classes

    Imagine the layout being very similar to super smash bros where you start out with a few basic characters and there being all kinds of game modes (classic, adventure, skill test, challenges, ect) where you could unlock tons more characters, lore, skins, items, stages, ect

    *Really* not interested in this right now. We've been waiting for *some* information Titan, even the most basic stuff, for like 4 years, and they deliver this.... at Blizzcon we'll probably also only hear about the next Xpac....

    Once ... IF... they bring an Android version, ok, then I might play it while on the subway etc. on my tablet but for PC? Nah.

    But they aren't ready to reveal Titan yet, why don't you unerstand that. Titan was leaked it wasn't announced. If it wasn't leaked you wouldn't even know it fucking existed. New IP's take YEARS to develop. You're telling me it's their fault they are not delivering Titan? No it's not, it's the fault of the one who leaked it, and because of him everyone is hyped as fuck and blames Blizzard for everything.

    Also why the fuck do you people think that they have only one team that works on everything? They said they only had 15 people for this game. Are they not allowed to make games now? I thought they were a gaming company. Also if you say they do this for money, then please, go ahead man, work for free.
