Blizzard Trademarks "Corgis Unleashed" (Okay, not really)
It's time to end the fun party we've been having for the past 24H. As it turns out, it's pretty easy to add whatever the hell you want on a .gov website. According to this new page, Blizzard just trademarked Corgis Unleashed, a game that according to our sources would kind of look like this.

Edit: Apparently the original news was too subtle, the "Corgis Unleashed" trademark was registered this morning for fun, as it turns out, there is absolutely no check and anyone can register something under Blizzard's name. This is an application, not a confirmation, you don't even need to pay the $275 application fee.

We probably jumped on the bandwagon a little early and I spent the past 24H double checking stuff since it was basically everywhere, I guess today is just not the day. Sorry guys, going to call the whole The Dark Below thing a hoax.

Eather the first one was actually real or champ is messing with us. unless someone has the link to the first one and can show us the differances. Personally I'd love both of them. Corgis Unleashed could be a mini game or phone game. I'd buy that!

It's more than just a picture:

If there's a site about it then The Dark Below is definitely real as well. There's enough reference to a threat within the "dark below" in-game as it is. I'm not convinced this is fake.

Now, the ultimate awesomeness were if Blizz now added a new pet to the store called Unleashed Corgis. And then also added to Garrosh loot table a pair of darkly colored epic pants called The Dark Below.

Wouldn't submitting an official trademark application while claiming to be Rod Rigole in fact be a rather serious crime of impersonating or attempted identity theft or something? I am not sure officials would necessarily take this lightly.

To be fair they never showed that information in their screenshot of the trademark. Actually the screenshot left a lot of information out that could have been used to find it such as the registration number.

Omg xD I kinda laughed at this all. Been pulled along, all of us, as it turns out.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind a corgi-focused expansion for WoW at all. Imagine the new race possibilities!

would be quite funny if 2 of the three were fake, to cover up the third being the real expac.

my vote goes to Corgi's Unleashed being the real one

I simply cannot believe you fell for a hoax. Either you're covering for information you shouldn't have released, or you intentionally trolled the fanbase twice.

This seems like it would be better for general forum banter and not front page news...or save it for April.

It seems this trademark is paid for. 550 dollar (?) seems like a lot of money for a joke.
This. Do people not have eyes?

    Ok, my question is this.

Does the status of the "Dark Below" alleged trademark differ from that of trademarks for previous expansions at the time that they were reported on MMOC?

To try to clairfy a bit, so "The Dark Below" is not actually registered yet, only applied for. Were the trademarks for say, Cata and MoP only applied for as well when they were reported by MMOC?

If they were, then there is still no actual reason to doubt the validity of it. The fact that it's easily possible to falsify information at the patent and trademark office merely shows yet another ineptitude of the US government, but would be merely coincidental.

If the trademarks for MoP and Cata and others were already actually registered instead only applied for at the time of their reporting, then maybe some guns were jumped.

On a side note, this like many other monumental fuck ups (if that's indeed what it is) is brought to us largely in part by the US government. Thanks, Uncle Scam.

Yeah, imho, Corgis Unleashed could be real. Critho might have made a browser game in his spare time and asked if he could get it trademarked at Blizzard (forking over the 275 himself). Just speculating.
