Blizzard Trademarks "Corgis Unleashed" (Okay, not really)
It's time to end the fun party we've been having for the past 24H. As it turns out, it's pretty easy to add whatever the hell you want on a .gov website. According to this new page, Blizzard just trademarked Corgis Unleashed, a game that according to our sources would kind of look like this.

Edit: Apparently the original news was too subtle, the "Corgis Unleashed" trademark was registered this morning for fun, as it turns out, there is absolutely no check and anyone can register something under Blizzard's name. This is an application, not a confirmation, you don't even need to pay the $275 application fee.

We probably jumped on the bandwagon a little early and I spent the past 24H double checking stuff since it was basically everywhere, I guess today is just not the day. Sorry guys, going to call the whole The Dark Below thing a hoax.

Do you see Azeroth in this picture? Because I don't.

i didnt pay any mind to the lock. my bad. you are correct with that. my post has been edited.

Its not that, its that people are so confident it would be a Burning Legion expansion.

I'm perfectly willing to doubt it now, but just because someone else proved it was LIKELY a hoax doesn't prove that it was. Blizzard themselves haven't said anything about it. We've got one straw to grasp at for now. So what'll you say on the off chance it turns out to be real?

It's not THAT controversial and i'm not 100% committed to his fantasy... I'm just saying that this complete reversal "The Dark Below is soooooooooooooooooooooooo fake" happened really fast.

It's completely probable that it is all disinformation.

I don't care either way. I just get a kick out of this rumor stuff.

If the video were real then why not screen capture it instead of showing a picture taken with a cell phone? It makes no sense. The "video" is a fake.

The only way it could be real is if some blizz employee who would have access to the info decided to just screw with everyone. Not impossible, but very unlikely.

To all the idiots saying Blizzard filed "Corgis Unleashed" as a red herring:

Clearly implies MMO-C 'filed' it to prove a point.

And to the idiots saying that the Dark Below was paid for so it must be real:

They didn't pay for "Corgis Unleashed", even though it says it was paid.

I thought it was real up until the post this morning. Knowing that the trademark is fake and that anyone can fill out an application in someone else's name, not submit it and not pay the fee just leads me to believe that everything release after that is fake too. Unless blizzard officially says "this is the new expansion" no one should believe anything. you'd be surprised at the effort people put into fake images.

exactly. that was one of the points i made a few posts back. almost everyone knows how to take a screenshot. there is no need to take a photo with your phone and then upload that picture.

Devil's Advocate: Why didn't the hoaxer just make a fake video clip? This could have been faked as well.

The lack of video doesn't prove it's fake.

Explain to me how the hoaxer could have uploaded the video onto the official World of Warcraft channel? It would have been much harder to videotape a youtube video that he overlaid with his own video. Also everyone would be able to tell if it was a fake trailer. He couldnt have done the whole video perfectly.

    *sigh*

Because it takes less time to make the logo than to do a clip using footage that would be easily spotted as fake. He uses the logo, makes a video of nothing but that logo for about 3 minutes, so as to give it the appearance of that dramatic "cut to logo" scene at the end of a trailer. Makes it look more "real" and more likely for idiots to fall for it.

Then again, Rod Rigole is confirmed legal counsel for blizz

exactly. even you, Conbot, wouldnt believe a video. there is no way anyone could make it look exactly like a blizzard trailer. if they did accomplish that...it would take weeks.

But what if the video is actually legit & showed at Gamescom.

anyone can go look up the trademark for mists, cataclysm, wrath or tbc. you can pull the name of blizzards attorney off of any of those documents...they are all accessible by the public.

Why would they blow their load on Gamescom instead of Blizzcon? They wouldn't. WoW expansion is their big deal, everyone's expecting it, they're not going to piss off the people who have bought tickets, and pass up the chance for a huge presentation on their home turf for some other venue. Not gonna happen.

What if they have something bigger planned for Blizzcon, maybe an actual cinematic ??
