Blizzard Trademarks "Warlords of Draenor" - WoW Expansion
Blizzard just trademarked "Warlords of Draenor" in New Zealand. It was then registered in Australia shortly after.

  • Computer game software, computer game discs, downloadable computer game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, interactive multimedia computer game program; downloadable electronic game software for use on portable electronic devices such as mobile and cellular phones, laptops, handheld computers, and tablet PCs.
  • Entertainment services, namely, providing on-line computer games; providing on-line non-downloadable computer games that may be accessed via a global computer network; providing online news and information in the field of computer games.

It's also worth mentioning that warlordsofdraenor.com was registered a month ago.

I do realize that we had a lot of fun times with trademarks in the past (*cough* Dark Below *cough*) but let's just say that on a personal level I'm pretty confident about this one. I'll leave the speculation up to you guys until Blizzcon.

I'm have a difficult time believing the next expansion is "World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor." Its a mouthful and is really... not crisp sounding. That's my 10 cents

Blizzard moves the timeline on 5-10 years from the events at the end of MoP and the following unfolds...

Turalyon and Alleria stumble through the dark portal back into Azeroth, Turalyon heads to see Varian and Alleria goes to visit her sister, both carry a story and a warning. During their absence they've been on an undiscovered section of Draenor. Aforementioned undiscovered section of Draenor is ruled by factions of Orcs and Draenei who are in turn ruled by.... Warlords. The Burning Legion have chosen to invade Draenor to establish a base from which to invade Azeroth through the dark portal. Turalyon and Alleria have come back to warn us. The Horde and Alliance both mobilise and send heroes back through the Dark Portal to Outland and thence on to this previously unknown chunk of Draenor. The expansion then unfolds on entirely new continents of Outland/Draenor, is Draenei and Orc focused, with us battling the various Warlords and ultimately The Legion. Some of the 'Warlords', their factions and of course ultimately the commanders of The Legion are the villains and raid bosses.

An alliance sub-theme will be bringing some long lost Draenei back into the fold, the Horde will be doing the same with some of the Orcs.

If there's a new or neutral race involved, we already met them in TBC, the Ethereal.

It's not a time travel centric expansion at all, although there may be a raid in the CoT which is where the Grom rumour comes from.
Garrosh is exiled to Outlands at end of MOP, he rises again during the Burning Legion invasion of Outlands to become a hero...

I was really hoping "The Dark Below" was true. I've been waiting a long time to see N'zoth and Azshara. They've been setting up the lore for these character's for many xpacks now, heck you could say that the main villain of Cata was N'zoth considering he's behind Deathwing, Azshara, the Emerald Dream nightmare, and other old god corruption across Azeroth. Also if you listen to the old god whispers from the puzzle box of Yogg and the corrupted gorehowl axe they leave hints at a whole world hidden beneath Azeroth.

I for one was hoping for a really dark lovecraftian themed xpack.

Just sounds like more of a Hearthstone booster pack/MOBA game title in my opinion. When you're doing a cross-IP game, the lore barely even matters. I can see them using Draenor though as a common setting for Starcraft, Diablo and WoW heroes. When you look at it, Warcraft is the in-between setting. Diablo is fantasy/horror and Starcraft is sci-fi. WoW has a little of both.

Garrosh gets redemption before Illidan? Fork no. I'd rather have Cho'gall back.

Tin foil hat up, to shut up a few people here. Boubouille made it pretty clear he knew the theme of the expansion, but not the name of it (check his post history), the "leak" comes from France where Boubouille is front, the leaker posted names of the people who leaked the info (edited by Boubouille himself).. not so hard for him to verify.

Plus if you check his twitter. Guy would lose all credibility if this was not true, to be honest, 1 week from Blizzcon, this can only be legit at this point.

Deny all you can. See you in 1 week.

I actually think Garrosh will get a redemption, Illidan's "Redemption" will probably come with the Burning Legion (Same with Garrosh, really). Oh and Cho'gall can go die in a fire.

hearthstone booster is more plausible then MOBA game, it would just be really poor naming on blizzards part to name the MOBA warlords of draenor when the other 2 games have nothing to do with WoW.

I really hope that there is no time travel involved. That would be really lame.

If a WOW expansion was that far into dev that they'll have something to show at BlizzCon, do they normally not have a name in place until they get verification the trademark is available? Do they keep tabs on the TM names so they can see if someone for whatever reason happened to pick the exact same name they were going to register?

I'd assume it'd be rather time-consuming going back through all the assets and "replace Warlord of Draenor|Warriors of Draenor"?

Do we *really* believe that Blizzard needs Go freaking Daddy to handle their web hosting? Really? This has got to be an elaborate hoax.

The wording makes it sound to me that he's being sarcastic and just distracting from The Dark Below being the expansion. Or he doesn't know, but just satirizes the idiotic hype whenever a trademark pops up.

    Couple of things...

To all the people losing their minds over the mere plausibility of Draenor having an undiscovered part outside of the current lore...calm...down.

Warcraft is a story yeah?, Blizzard Entertainment write the story correct?...why cant you knuckle draggers wrap your minds around the possibility that story development occurs and can occur, its not lazy in fact imo its bold if this were the case...(a new part of Draenor discovered).

My point is its not some lazy ass fan fiction writing the story, its the source themselves writing Warcraft, people being so stuck in there righteous little bubbles about the way a story HAS to develop miss the bigger picture entirely.

    /rant.

I for one am intrigued. but this is only a title so far. further to this, its a title that has had NO confirmation from Blizzard. Roll on Blizzcon, i for one am optimistic for the future, or past or WHEREVER the story wants to take us

What a terrible name for an expansion.

Orcs = Warlords that comes from Draenor? No? An Orc expansion? Not another one...

Why do people suddenly think this expac is about time travel? And how can people come to that conclusion based off of "Warlords of Draenor"? I really don't understand...

    Orcs = Warlords
They weren't the warlords of Draenor, no matter how proud Orcs thought they were.
