Patch 5.4.7 Live This Week
Patch 5.4.7 is going live this week, with a new PvP season, Level 90 Boost preparation, and other assets for future use.

  • Season 15 PvP gear will use the same models as Season 14, but with the colors available to each faction switched.
  • There will be some minor adjustments to Heroic Garrosh (10).
  • The Level 90 boost feature will be added in this patch, but no announcement has been made as to when it will actually be available.
  • This patch and launcher updates prepared things for the Warlords of Draenor pre-order, but no date has been announced yet.
  • The Warlords of Draenor Collector's Edition mount and pet are included in this patch.
  • The Scroll of Resurrection ends on Tuesday, so be sure to send out any final invitations before then.
  • No new realm connections are currently listed for this week.

The Level 90 Boost feature is in Patch 5.4.7, but it may not be enabled this week. After being boosted, your character will have a set of item level 483 greens.

PvP
  • Season 15 Prideful Gladiator gear, and weapons are now available for purchase.
  • Season 14 Grievous Gladiator gear and weapons can now be purchased using Honor Points instead of Conquest Points.
  • Base Resilience for level-90 players is now 77% (up from 72%). Base Resilience for players below level 90 remain at 40%.
  • Resilience Diminishing Returns curve for Resilience has been adjusted for the new base resilience value to maintain the same value per point of Resilience as previously.
  • Battle Fatigue now reduces healing received while in PvP combat by 60% (up from 55%).
  • Gladiator’s Distinction, the set bonus for wearing two PvP trinkets, now grants 5280 Resilience (up from 2600).

Battlegrounds and Arenas
  • Arenas
    • For the 2v2 Arena bracket, Dampening is now applied to the match starting at the 5 minute mark (down from 10 minutes).
    • For 3v3 and 5v5 Arena brackets, there is no change. Dampening will continue to be applied at the 10 minute mark.
  • Alterac Valley
    • The following NPCs now have more health and deal more damage.
      • Alliance: Vanndar Stormpike, Balinda Stonehearth, Stormpike Defenders, Stormpike Bowman, and all Marshals.
      • Horde: Captain Galvangar, Drek'thar, Frostwolf Guardian, Frostwolf Bowman, and all Warmasters.
    • The following NPCs are now immune to disarm, daze, and Death Grip.

The Scroll of Resurrection Retires

It’s served its divine purpose, but like most scrolls, it only has so many charges before it loses its magic and crumbles into ethereal dust. For those who’d still like a chance to use the scroll, you have until February 18 before players are no longer able to send invitations. For those who have an invitation outstanding, that’s still good for 30 days from the time it was sent, after which point the invitation will expire and the benefits can no longer be claimed.

    This patch is kind of like the post-Blizzcon one with a very specific purpose in mind

    Though I am disappointed there's no new crafted pvp gear to accompany this season

    I wish there was just a little bit more to this patch for the PvE side. Guess we'll see what comes up in the future though.

    I suppose what I don't get is... it's been mentioned that the SoR service may be going away because it would essentially be competition of a sorts for the new paid service (at least as far as returning players are concerned). But the people who weren't willing to come back for a free 80 (when it was max or close to max level) aren't going to come back for a level 90 that they have to pay for, while at the same time you're "losing" potential returning players who might have been tempted by a free SoR 90.

    The only way it would make sense is if they didn't want someone to be able to get an SoR, get a free level 80/90, then upgrade to WoD and get a "free" level 90 as well. Because if they're selling 90's in the store they'd want that player to pay for his second raised character.... are subscription numbers really so great that they can be that greedy about things? Who gives a shit if someone gets an "extra" level 80/90 as long as it increases the number of subscriptions and active players?

    All they are doing is replacing the free 80 with a free 90 which applies to everyone, not just veterans. Nothing about that has to do with a reasoning of making the second character cost and being greedy.

Says that the level 90 boosts "may not be enabled this week", but..if this is mainly what the patch is about (and of course the mount and pet) wouldnt it make sense if WoD pre orders and paid level boosts when up at the same time during the patch launch? You cant just release a patch and not have its content available.

    The patch was never about the boost. Notice it's not even mentioned in the patch notes. The new PvP season and getting ready for the preorders and the pre-expansion patch is why they are doing 5.4.7

    Bullshit, that is what they said and they prob beloved it at the time as they knew they wouldn't have to deal with a new class/race but I think WOD is kicking their ass. What have they released that would make you believe they are further along in WOD than MOP? A couple of screen shots of like 3 models that's about it. I am thinking fall release at the earliest

    Im thinking Q4 2014 if they want a smooth launch, endgame content ready, and all around a non-shit expansion with few bugs.

    Otherwise im thinking the later part of Q2 2014, or early Q3 for an unpolished launch to save subs.

    This patch is about making the game ready for the pre-orders. Having the insta-90 and the digital collector's rewards available. Obviously that doesn't mean that they HAVE to go live at the same time as the patch. The obvious conclusion is that this will be the last patch before the 6.0 patch, and everything needed to go live before then is in it.

    I doubt there will be a Blizzcon. There's nothing to announce and even the milestone anniversaries most likely wouldn't justify holding one.

    5.4 was the final PvE content patch. What could Blizzard have added for PvE players at this point?

    Boub said Feb-March beta.

    Longest beta we've had is 6 months. Which would put latest release at September.
