Character Level Boost to 90 priced at $60
The US servers went back online after the maintenance and for a few minutes people could access the interface to upgrade their character. Unless announced otherwise by Blizzard, upgrading your character to level 90 will cost you $60 on live servers.

If it was cheap enough I'd buy several to get to know different classes and try em out. Now I'll buy one at most if I ever main swap to a class I don't have near 90. Leveling is just so damn boring.

Yeah, pretty much this. $60 isn't even worth my time before lunch, let alone 2.5 full days if I really want a character leveled.
So now WoW and other games should be about how much pre-lunch time of each of us is worth? If so, I dont see why they should not start selling gear for $$$. Becouse, well, it is not worth to waste my time in those raids if I can earn real money instead and just buy my WoW gear for cash. MMO games like WoW are mostly about time investment. If I can skip time effort spent for leveling by just opening my wallet, they could as well start selling gear for money. Running LFR is as hard as leveling and getting gear is all about time spent. But aside from all that. Look at some of posts here. People starting to point fingers at who earns more money as a measure of WoW status. Quite frankly, I feel a bit disgusted.

Hey I'm going to sell you something, it's really boring. Here I'll sell you something to skip all the boring parts, it costs as much as the original thing. Oh and by the way you have a monthly fee for using the thing you just bought.

I must be one hell of a salesman, my name is Blizzard.

Because a game full of the new crowd who all fork over hundreds of dollars for max lvl characters is way better than a game populated by the people who play the game as it was originally made.

To all the "LOL 60 bucks, i can pay 4 month of wow for that and level tons of 90 chars"
    Then do that.
One of my friends work in IT Consulting, he works like 60-70 hours a week all over europe. He makes some decent cash, but has not much free time.
So he pays 200 bucks a month for a cleaner who comes every week for 2-3 hours, because he want to spare the time.
Sure you can say "Nah man, i will clean myself, why pay so much?"
Thats ok, i too clean my flat for myself. As a computer sience student i have enough free time And less money.
But i understand my friend very well.

Paying for 4 months of game time or paying to level a character to 90 that you can do in a few days.

... Yeah, my opinion is that this is ridiculously overpriced. At this point, they should just not even allow buying 90s and not allow people to transfer a boosted 90 (from the free one you get from buying WoD) for at least 3 months after boost.

I understand they don't want to set it cheap so most people won't buy it, but $60??? That's enough to buy a fucking triple A new game.

    This 110%

For once i wish people would get the bigger picture, and stand up against such moronic business practices. Maybe then WoW would be a good game again.

I frequently go to stores near my work or Subway or whatever and buy a sandwich for like $10 that I could've made in a few minutes at home for like $2 worth of ingredients.

But you know what? Fuck that.

Only now? I've felt disgusted ever since they made paid for xfers and faction transfers.

    1. Faction transfers should not have ever existed

    2. They have more than enough money to allow you to move your char to w/e server

    3. They could also allow you to move regions as well (US/EU/Asia)

    All Technically possible..

Also people shouldn't be surprised, this is what Activision does.

    Not on console
And some of that games provide 4-5 hours fun, and then you are through.

A new Iphone cost less the 250 in production and sells for what?
Thats nasty, but 60 bucks for an optional 90 char?
Thats the right price for the right buyer.

This price is in no doubt expensive. I am pretty sure that the players who will use this service are much less than Blizzard plans. The slope has begun and let's see how WOW becoming a half-free mode game.

Level 90 when level 100 characters exist is max level? Really now... Your argument is also already shot down due to Refer a Friend, we already have people skipping levels. Good day sir.

People keep saying that blizzard don't want it to be cheap so that it will get abused and keep people out in the world. Have you actually leveled a character recently? It's already empty out in the world. Go and look at Zangamarsh and tell me how many players you see. Sure there are a lot of people in the starting areas but most people level though dungeons/PVP/etc. It's priced at $60 because Bliz thinks they can maximize their profit at that level. Nothing more. Sure, some people will be happy to throw $660 at blizzard to get a full set of 90's. Personally I think they made a big mistake because it seems to me like they are targeting this at their rich existing clients, not new or returning players and those are the two groups that need it.

Not everyone has the amount of time/effort needed to level a character to get into to the new end-game and some of those people are willing to pay this price. This is a good thing because that means end-game will get more players and that will ultimately effect everyone in a good way.

I have lots of time on my hands, but I'm not willing to pay the price - and yet I'm not mad about it. And neither should you be.

The game is nearly 10 freacking years old and even me as a "i really hate levling" player have 5 90 toons. Everbody was twinking in WotLK during the ICC nothing to do year gap.
Sure the world is more or less empty.

I see it like this, If you have 5 Subscribers. 1 out of 5 only would buy the $60 boost because the price range is a bit high. If they lowered it to about $20-25 like the other services 3 possible 4 out of 5 would buy the boost then. I think it'll be better profit to lower it in the long run.

Yaay thats news for me .. Since my guilds progressing on Hardmodes.. I hardly find time to play/level my alts like before.. Getting my warlock to 90 (she is 62 now) is great for me so that i can start working on gearing her up for my guilds progression runs in the next expansion and not get bored on my off days Besides.. ive been playing the game since WOTLK and seen the zones multiple times.. So the boost is great for the price

Not mad about it. Happy to cancel my account. I am not cancelling because of the price, I had cancelled anyway. I might have renewed my subscription if it was reasonably priced then I could try playing again with another class.

Ideally character boost should never have been implemented. It will only increase the number of players with no understanding of the game at all (like 12 year old spoiled kids who make their parents pay). However as it is happening, the higher the price the better. And 60$ is more that I would have hoped for.
