Smart. They're doing the Disney thing where they put it in the vault and than more than likely will bring it back later on. I guess we'll see if it works when it is re-released.

Comments are so weird. If you're so eager to have this pet, you can go and buy it now. If you're clever, you could buy some copies of this pet to sell them in a year or so for x5 money. Either way you won't complain, unless you're a basement kid which thinks 10 bucks is a real money. Which is not.

Grow up already, people, its called marketing, its the way business work.

This is exactly what I came here to post.

I'm surprised no one has said yet that Blizzard is doing this to counter wildstar release.

Well, it goes by the same logic as Blizz first selling the item and then ceasing to sell the digital item without of any obvious reason. You got to ask why...and if you come up with no other reason than "cause they want to make as much money as possible"...then it's quite fine if the other site is blaming both of Blizzards decisions for being "just to grab money".
That you do not see the logic does not mean there is none....sorry to tell ya.

Uggh the first thing Blizzard has done in ages that actually has pissed me off.

Have had about 7 of the Cubs over the last couple years they've been out. Bought most from AH for cheap and have given them to multiple friends/Ex-gf to start them off with their Battle Pets adventures due to assuming I could just grab one off the AH to replenish my Battle Pet numbers if I needed.

Now this bullshit? I log on to quickly grab one off AH and they are all selling for 20k again.

The fuck is the Blizzard Archive?

Let's see what mount/pet will replace it after they created new demand this way. How people here defend these cheap moves is really sad.

Angry at Blizzard because you didn't keep a pet for yourself, nice.

Angry at Blizzard for not even hinting that it may go away at some point and then just axing it completely. To have something in a normal supply which then runs to zero for no reason is what I am angry about.

The thing is that some people will buy the cubs now for real money in hope to sell them for big money/gold during the next years. Blizz is calculating with that too. The truth is tho: Due to the massive duping going on all over the pet market right now(soultrader, kites, bananas, rocket chicken and some more all dropped by 80-90% within a couple of weeks), there is no way to calculate and hence it's just a huge and very risky gamble to buy the cub now.

It looks like Blizzard took a lesson from Disney and decided to shove the Guardian Cub in their "vault" to be released again at a later date. Disney proved it can increase sales of their movies, so it seems Blizzard decided to give it a go, too.

what? why do this with a digital product?
  1. Krommm's Avatar
Not a big deal, just a marketing ploy to spike sales. Might see more mounts/pets "retired" to get people holding out for sales to just go ahead and buy it full price.

I would have liked it if Blizzard had included an explanation for this, but I can also think of a couple reasons for not doing so. =|

Disney has been doing this with their movies for over 50 years.
