This afternoon Blizzard released the subscribers count as of November 13, 2014. This is up 2.6 million from the Q3 2014 call that listed WoW at 7.4 million subscribers.

Garrison Campaign Quests Active
Garrison Campaign quests are now active and the one you get each week appears to be random.

One option you may get is from Khadgar's Servant in your garrison, which sends you to Shadowmoon Valley for a short quest chain that rewards Sargerei Disguise (which is not a Toy).

No, their active accounts number never includes free/trial accounts. It DOES include eastern pay-per-hour accounts that have been active in the last 30 days, though.

Awesome. They managed to get back to where they were before MOP was released.

Let's see where they are in 3 months once the new wears off.

I'm only bringing this up because blizzard are quick to dismiss a large fall in subs when the Asian leave.....yet quicker to include them when they join!
Anyone would think we have a shareholder meeting incoming
Not at all. Cata sold the same number in 24 hours with 12m subs. It actually shows that while players in the east are dropping, players in the west are either staying the same or growing slightly.

By then they perfectly knew waht was coming, so they actually expanded and created several new servers.

Ever since the end of Wrath it's been just the other way around, and suddenly boom, back to WotLK number almost.

Also, if these numbers are really from the 13th, that means the east hadn't gotten it yet meaning a small increase could still happen. They could go up to 11m maybe. China is a big audience though, and if the marketing there was good subs could go above 12m though revenue wouldn't grow much because eastern money makes like 10% of all of blizzards money.

Err ... why is that a good thing?

It would mean pre-MoP WoW had 9.1M subs while pre-WoD it only had 6.8M. I don't know but the former actually looks better from my point of view.

All in all, MoP and WoD have about the same pulling power. They pulled in 10 million.

When you say MoP and WoD pulled in 10 million, it means they pulled in additional 10 million subs. If you don't know what you're saying, don't post.

Spoiler Alert, they're gonna lose all those new subs and more if they can't make garrisons, phasing and instance servers SOMEWHAT stable soon. Medium population realm and things are still broken more than half the time.

Soon? it's been only a week since release, and realms are already stable.

It doesn't show anything of the sort. All we can discern is that is that Chinese and Western players that have not bought WOD outnumber the Western players that have bought it.

Really? Just last night garrisons were bugged once again, I was not able to log on to main for about three hours, and instance servers were hit and miss.

With 3.3 million copies sold, so 6.7 million are playing without the expansion? Now I wonder how the adoption rates of the old expansions were as I always thought only a minority doesn't upgrade at release.

A good portion (the majority) of those 6.7million will be WOW China players who do not have to buy expansions.

I bet Blizzard were annoyed they had to upgrade all their hardware

They must of seen it coming, but they held out for as long as possible before they "upgraded" or flicked a switch.

There is no way they could of done what they claimed in the small window of time they said.. BRB

Ok I'm back just couldn't remember how to spell propaganda.

Also, there is literally less than 10 people on my server in wod, no matter where i go, and 10 million and still there is like so many dead servers?, guess all of them are just hanging out on non dead servers.

But hey, congrats to blizzard to getting the old people back with this expansion, too bad it is as shit as cata and mop, the newer more casual players however will most likely just go on their merry way soon.

How did blizzard get 3 mil after 14 months of 1 raid?, man people must love paying for no content in this genre!
Would rather have older more mature peeps come back then have 11 year olds like you hanging around with nasty attitudes. Btw, WoD is very very good and the numbers prove it. No way you ran around on a dead server when every single server had que times just to get in to play. Now back of the bus, Troll.

Which is good news, since a western "sub" is worth many times an eastern "sub". IIRC, the ARPU to Blizzard from China is a few dollars a month.

I only play games based on how many other people play them! I refuse to waste my time on something that the majority of people don't play because I want to be considered cool! Only!

Yeah umm... I don't care who plays what or how many play what, if my partner and my friends play a game (that I happen to enjoy myself) you bet I'll play it. In the last 10 years I only took a break once for 3 months to play Wildstar, but yes those sub numbers have 0 effect on me, my partner or my friends gameplay... Not to mention most of those with the expansion are barely even 100 yet they don't even effect QUEUE times yet!

Chinese players dont buy expansions. It shows exactly what I said. There are more western players playing or the same amount as in Cata seen by the copies of WoD sold.
