Armory Stats - Character Item Level Distribution
It is another quiet holiday week, so today we are taking a look at the item level distribution of Level 100 characters. There are 3.5 million characters and 2.4 million accounts that make up this sample. Keep in mind data collection started recently, so there may be some characters that we haven't come across yet.

We can also look at everyone's highest item level character at the end of Mists of Pandaria. It appears that many players took advantage of the item level 550 honor gear at the end of the expansion.

Armory Stats - Number of Max-Level Characters
Today we are taking a look at the number of Level 100 characters that players have and Level 90 characters that players had at the end of Mists of Pandaria. There are 3.5 million characters and 2.4 million accounts that make up this sample at Level 100.

While collecting this data, we came across some fun outliers, such as the player that has 42+ Level 100 characters and a player that had 195+ Level 90 characters.

With the subscription cost as low as it is I'm guessing it's becoming far more common to have more than one account as well.

So according to this EU has overall more raiders than US or at least serious raiders.

Something tells me those 42+ level 100 toons and 195+ level 90 toons weren't leveled by hand

Most likely some crazy multiboxers. A guy on EU servers has 24 accounts and he leveled them all together at the same time afaik.

I bet something to do with the fact that in Europe most people don't have kids or only have 1 child plays a role into it. There's a lot of casual gamers in the US with children and families. Just look at the WoW PvE world first races and games like CS:GO.. Europe always dominates heh.

At least that's what I see whenever people always compare i-lvl's and world firsts/e-sports with the US vs Europe. EU is much more hardcore than America. (percentage of gamers anyway)

The poll clearly show how disconnected mmoc forumers are from the average players.

Only 30% of people here have one lv100 (myself having 3)

As long as you exclude France, UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and most likely a couple of others from EU. Fertility rates in those countries are pretty much identical to the US.

Where's the option for zero level 100s?

My main is 96. This is the first expansion where I've really struggled trying to care about playing, and I don't know why that is. There's a lot in the game I really like, and I think I'd like playing end game right now. But as is, I log in a few times a week, I putz around my garrison, send my followers out... then I try to think about where it was I left off leveling and just can't bring myself to taking the flightpath out there.

After that I usually just play Hearthstone or Heroes of the Storm. :P

I think it has more to do with paid time off. In EU there is an amount of paid time off given as matter of law. In US there are 0 days off granted as a matter of law, with the FMLA allowing you to take unpaid leave from work for certain family matters free from risk of termination. Sure your employer might give you paid days off but they have no legal obligation to do so, and lets be honest the average joe is working an average job, not a cushy job with tons of days off. I believe the average US worker has 1.5 weeks paid time off in a year, which makes choosing how to spend that time off more critical. In EU you have enough time off to spend time with family and also have a number of shorter work weeks where you can just sit in front of PC.

Chances are you might be suffereing from an affliction called "growing up", possibly with complications from a syndrome called "Moving on".

Just a layman diagnosis, of course...

By the end of MoP I had 20 level 90's, and currently have 4 of them to 100.

This. I think the highest level toon I have is 95. I just can't be bothered. I enjoyed the first zone but the garrison sucked the motivation out of me. Seriously. When your base isn't in the zone you're leveling in that creates a problem. I let my subscription run out as I stopped caring about logging in, as the garrison feels like a grind that stripped away any interest in the storyline.

Can garrisons be skipped apart from the mandatory quests to advance the story? If you ignore your garrison (follower missions, gathering farms, work orders, etc) does it gimp you?

I mean they can technically be skipped, but the major Legendary questline breadcrumb is there. Your weekly "campaign" (the closest thing you really get to episodic, story-driven, quests at 100) is only picked up in Garrison. Your daily to get Apexis shards is in Garrison. You have to spend an unnecessary and absurd amount of gold to do professions without garrison, and some professions have BOP items made only in Garrison. You have to be in Garrison to queue for the Proving Grounds to the best of my knowledge.

I think if you just want to hit 100 then yes, Garrison is optional. If you want to play more than a very casual amount (i.e., just do normal dungeons, farm i620 from world rares, and do weekly WB/LFR), then you have to interact with Garrison in some way or another. Hope this helps.

Love these statistics posts. Do another battleground/faction statistic next time please, and note the blacklisting timeline if you can to point out how much things changed when blacklisting was introduced.
