WoW Stable at 10+ Million Subscribers
Blizzard had their Q4 2014 earnings call today, announcing that WoW was still at 10+ million subscribers at the end of 2014. This is the same as the mid November announcement that listed WoW at 10+ million subscribers.

  • Subscriber numbers are expected to decline, just like after the release of every other expansion. Asia is expected to have a larger decline, as subscriber numbers there are more fluid.
  • Hearthstone has over 25 million registered players
  • Heroes of the Storm has 9 million users registered for beta

    • Hans'gar & Franzok
      • Hans’gar and Franzok’s Crippling Suplex now deals 30% less damage (200,000 damage on Raid Finder, 450,000 damage on Normal, 600,000 damage on Heroic, and 700,000 damage on Mythic).
    • Blackhand
      • Blackhand's Impaling Throw damage dealt to Siegemakers should now properly scale up based on the number of players in the Raid.
      • Visuals for Marked for Death and Slag Eruptions should now be easier to see.
      • Players should now only receive a single debuff that refreshes when running through Blazes created by Siegemaker Mortar attacks.
      • Resolved an issue that could cause some Hunters or Warlocks to suffer fatal falling damage during the transition to Stage Three: Iron Crucible.

Battlegrounds and Arenas
  • Faction flags should no longer appear for players in an Arena or Arena Skirmish match.

Thank you for being a decent gaming company Blizzard

Unlike that other horrible company, that makes horrible games and ask you to pay them money to test (Yes I mean EA and Battlefield)

Not a big surprise since this was before the mass exodus that is happening now with everyone bored and the lack of content. 10 million is a useless number anyways. I don't play with them. 6 million people playing in china doesn't really affect me. 2 million in Europe doesn't really affect me. To me the game has 2 million in NA and that's the only number I see. World wide numbers when all the regions are locked out is useless.

I think a lot of you guys a forgetting that these numbers are from the last 3 months of 2014, with a new exp launche, so the numbers are to be expectet. The interresting numbers will the the ones from Q1 2015.

True, but looking at the graph this has been the largest jump ever.

It does prove though that people didn't come back just for a month to try and quit.

Q1 and Q2 numbers will be interesting, I expect at least to be back down near 6-8 million by Q2

Lol@ people who think these are CURRENT numbers.
If you think Q1 numbers will be 6-8 million your absolutely high and off into the clouds...More realistic figure would be a continued climb to 11-11.5 million.

Q4 2014 was still the honeymoon period for WoD, the Q1 2015 call is when we're liable to see a shitstorm.

Need to ask since im pretty crappy on things like this but:

Blizzard are not able to lie on this right? it's against some sort of law on companies due to stockholders or something?

I"m surprised about HoTS having 9 million Register users. Also i can guess that now WoW subs are below 10mill. But i also believe that Blizzard doesn't really care about subs numbers anymore unless they lose ALOT in Q1.

I let my subscription slide simply because I wasn't enjoying the game like I used to, but I'm glad to see the numbers hold.
Even if I'm not currently playing, and not enjoying some of the changes, I had a lot of memories and seeing the game do well is nice.

Man, people love to be wrong those days... Even if they are wrong for over 6 years right now, they keep hoping they will be right in three months. I'm sorry for you haters...

Unless 6.1 hits and actually has a lot more than we think, I couldn't imagine it being above 9m either.

Lol unless 6.1 brings some actual content, your beloved garrisons are not going to hold 10million+ subscribers. Anecdotal but all of Q4 my full friends list was loaded with players I hadn't talked to in years. 95% of those players have already realized WoD for the half assed sack of shit it is and unsubbed. Same with my guild...even the "casuals" are bored out of their minds and not logging in.

    Oooo ooo I wanna try!

Lol@ people who have nothing better to do with their lives than wish doom and gloom on a company because it seems like the cool thing to do.

Oh and Lol@ people who come up with excuses when that doom and gloom doesn't come.

That's fun, no wonder you do it!

Well, they sooner or later will go down anyway. Subs are from the end of 2014, and that was only about 6 weeks after release of WoD. People were still all up in Highmaul. Wait for the next conference calls. Subs are gonna go down, depending on how fast they deliver new content, depending on how good it is, and depending on how much there will be to do outside of raids.
