Update (9:15 PM EDT): Added 6.2 notes update

WoW Down to 7.1 Million Subscribers
Blizzard had their Q1 2015 earnings call today, announcing that WoW is down to 7.1 million subscribers at the end of Q1 2015. This is down 2.9 million from the Q4 2014 call that listed WoW at 10 million subscribers. This appears to be the largest drop in subscriber count in the history of the game.

  • Tokens are not included in this timeframe, as they launched in Q2.
  • World of Warcraft’s revenue performance at constant FX has been more stable, driven by continued strong uptake on value added services, and price increases in select regions, which partially offset subscriber declines, particularly in the East.
  • Heroes of the Storm had over 11 million beta sign-ups.
  • Hearthstone is now at 30 million players, up from 25 million last quarter.

    • Mineral nodes should now only be displayed on the mini-map when a character is inside the mine. Characters with Track Minerals active will continue to see mineral nodes from outside the Mine.

  • Bonus Roll Changes
    • Seal of Tempered Fate can now be purchased from the Fate-Twisters for gold and no longer has a cap on how many can be obtained per week. Additionally, characters can now hold up to a maximum of 20 Seals of Tempered Fate (up from 10).

Death Knight (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
Blood
  • Mastery: Blood Shield's Physical damage absorption shield from Death Strike now also counts as having an active mitigation effect active.
Talents
  • Breath of Sindragosa now costs 20 Runic Power per second for Blood Death Knights.

Hunter (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
General
  • Tranquilizing Shot has switched functionality with Glyph of Tranquilizing Shot. Tranquilizing Shot no longer costs Focus but has a 10-second cooldown.
Glyphs
  • Glyph of Tranquilizing Shot has switched functionality with Tranquilizing Shot. Glyph of Tranquilizing Shot causes Tranquilizing Shot to cost 40 Focus instead of a 10-second cooldown.

Mage (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
Talents
  • Flameglow now absorbs up to a maximum of 20% damage from each attack (down from 30%).
Armor Sets
  • Tier-17 2-piece set bonus for Fire Mages has been redesigned. It now reduces the cooldown of Inferno Blast by 2 seconds.

Rogue (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
General
  • Cloak of Shadows now has a 90-second cooldown (up from 60 seconds).

Shaman (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
Armor Sets
  • Tier 17 4-piece set bonus for Restoration Shaman now reduces the mana cost of Chain Heal by 50% for 8 seconds (down from 75% reduction for 10 seconds).

Warlock (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
Armor Sets
  • PvP 4-piece set bonus for Destruction Warlocks has been redesigned. It now causes Incinerate to deal 25% more damage on targets affected by the Warlock's Immolate.

Warrior (Forums / Skills / Talent Calculator)
Armor Sets
  • Tier-17 4-piece set bonus for Arms Warrior has been redesigned. It now reduces the cost of Mortal Strike by 5 Rage.

    WoD promised, but didn't deliver. Quite a sloppy expansion indeed, hopefully blizzard shifts off from the slack gear next expansion.

    During last blizzcon all are so hyped. garrison best idea ever. prune class abilities best idea ever (no one's ask for it anyway), new map like timeless island best idea ever. nerf LFR so raiders don't need to to it or even look like Best idea ever.

    what happened?
    all was so bored. there are millions of reasons that garrison's will fail (start with no space for personalization).
    prune abilities were a big FAIL. 1 button to start attack/build resources, 2 to spam, 3 for procs /spend resources, 4 for hit to finish. well, everyone ask for homogenization of classes. there you go (don't blame)
    timeless isle was the most voted feature in this page time ago. ppl ask for it. they have an entire exp now (don't blame).
    LFR is even worse than dungeons.

    then they say: war agains those filthy ORCS!!!!
    what we got? war agains OGRES!!! who asked for those tard fat guys??? i always hate ogres since TBC. and now they are in every raid!!!
    where are the LORDS OF WAR?? the IRON HORDE??. nope. ogres. all looks the same so let's change a couple of mechanics and make it different raid bosses

    then patches comming. twitter and selfie shit. that was the patch.
    ppl bored like me tried to do some pvp. legloas on steroid everywhere nuke everyone while yolo/swag make me store at bank all my pvp gear.

    i'm really sure that Class accesories http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/141...ries-5-20-2014 with personalization (color, shape, bright, etc), quest to unlock it, world bosses to achieve it, integrated with twitter and selfie cam they had been a mayor score.

    well, blizzcon 2015 will be, again, a inmense and huge HYPE (we promise all, don't lose your faith, don't vote with your wallet), ppl will buy again a pre-order and will be again a big bored fail.

    it's so sad to log in and see your friend list in 0 logs. even my guild is in 0 right now.

    Timeless Isle wasn't loved. It was just an area added in another content drought. It was just basically a change and something different to do.

    730 days? In what alternative reality was that? That's would be longer than BC and Cataclysm.
    The longest raid by far was SoO that lasted 429 days! Over 14 months!
    The second longest was ICC with 364 days if you don't count Ruby Sanctum as a real new raid (if you do, then it was only 196 days)
    Dragon Soul lasted 301 days. Also too long, but much shorter than two years.

    Especially hunters. Some sets may look crazy but unique for other classes (like some Warlock and Paladins sets). Some dislike strange looking and unique sets and prefer more medival style. At least those sets showed that they tried something unique. But the hunter sets are really some garbage without any style thrown together. Is it so hard to do some cool hunter sets like they did in the past? What is this?:

    Im not sure dropping to 2-3 million mean casual are gone. Because the people quiting are the ones bore, the people that has nothing to do. Most casuals log in to only do little and is fine with how little they need to do in wow. It the hard core people that have nothing to do that is upset. Now if the fame was hard and casuals can't get anything done, well I can see it being casuals leaveing, but it the fact that it gives hardcore players nothing to do.

    The game needs to change its name from world of watercraft to loney nonwarcraft.

    Well, I wouldn't mind if they stopped caring about subscribers so they could stop trying to cater to everyone.

    The lesson they'll take away from losing the entire bump of subs gained by the expansion hype is that they should start releasing more store mounts per quarter.

    Just a note on your graph, BWL was actually 175 days not 63, because ZG wasn't a "full" on raid, it was more a kind of LFR hence why it only needed half the people and had worse loot than MC. Likewise Black Temple was 308 days not 175 because again ZA wasn't a "full fat" raid (ZA was actually a lot of fun for groups of friends or for guilds who didn't have enough players for proper raids).

    - Remove the gating from all but the highest tier crafted items, at least allow us to level them at our own pace.

    - SEVERELY cut down on the amount of herbs and ore our garrison produces, restore the need to go out and gather.

    - Allow our herbalist and miner followers to mine and herb for us, they can add what they collected to the crates.

    - Once we reach level 100 and have gathered all the jumping puzzle treasures, give us back flying for pete's sake.

    - Add a portal to Ashran to Stormwind/Orgrimmar, make it easier for people to hang out in the cities again.

    Here's another annoyance that caused me to quit. Flip flopping on changes. the WoW devs will go years with one thing remaining constant and then suddenly decide to change it one patch. Hunters tranq shot for example. The cloak of shadows nerf above as another example. There was a point this xpac that "Maelstrom weapon procs will no longer reduce mana costs" a couple weeks later "Maelstrom weapon procs now reduce mana cost". The developers themselves are wishy-washy when it comes to balance. The horde racial nerfs are another example, they have stated in a blue post somewhere "Maybe we over did it on the nerfs" because they simultaneously buffed alliance drastically while nerfing horde drastically. (Will of the forsaken CD was 3mins for a while, now its 2mins again).
    The new enhance shaman bonus coming next content patch =Maelstrom charges increase the damage done by your Nature spells by an additional 10%, which is funny because when WoD dropped they had nerfed the Maelstrom procs by 10%. So effectively what they did is nerf a class then remove the nerf functionally as a set bonus deep deep into the xpac. Enhance single target dps has been garbage this whole xpac and they never once thought to revert some of the unnecessary changes they made going into the xpac. Instead the forego an interesting mechanic for an older status of a mechanic that already exists.

    They change the classes so damned much, back and forth, nerf and buff and then re-nerf. It gets very discouraging to commit to anything as a player. You try and PvP and either your class is under-performing and you have to wait months for any kind of a minor tweak to help out. Or your class is overperforming and you get a rapid hotfix nerf that isn't even listed in patch notes (that has happened many times over, ninja nerfs)

    I would kill for tbc 2.0 Such a blast playing that expansion. I was raiding on a private server (feenix) for almost 5 months progressing through t5 and t6 and that was the most fun ive had in wow since WOTLK.. 33/28 slam specc warrior represent! Wod on the other hand, mythic raiding is really good and that was the only thing that kept me playing the game for months.. Everything else except the lvling was pretty meh.

    Doing same shit over and over is worse than ICC 10+25 NM/HM. People do LFR/Normal few times, get bored and leave I think.

    This this this this this this. Bring back single difficulty raids with the random "hard mode" bosses. If the elite 1% clear the raid too fast, tough shit. They don't pay the bills. Tune it to slightly higher than average skill and make people rise to the occasion a little bit.

    Old model: elite guild clears raid in 1-2 weeks on mains. Clears optional boss slightly later. Farms gear until totally geared out. Does the same on alts just because. Spends the rest of their time doing all the other great things like PvP, crafting, leveling more alts, doing dailies, or just fucking around with friends.

    Mid range guild clears the content several weeks later. Maybe does or maybe doesn't kill algalon or whatever. Get like 3/4 maxed out on gear before next tier. Spends non raid time doing the fun stuff mentioned above.

    Low end guild maybe doesn't clear the entire raid. Gets maybe halfway. Still gets lootm feels accomplished because most of them aren't hardcore raiders. Plans to wait for next tier of gear to clear this one for the sake of completion. Does all the fun shit mentioned above.



    New model: no fun shit. 4 difficulties. Repetitive mindnumbing raiding and garrison grinding. Unsub and log out.
