What's New in Version 1.0.2
  • Artifact XP world quests now show a single icon on the map.
  • Fix for occasional error while collecting the first ready troop.
  • Champions below level 110 now show level instead of iLevel on the mission results panel.
  • Times now display the top 2 units in most places (e.g. hours and minutes instead of just hours)
  • Fixed issue where a previously-collected troop would appear to be ready for pickup.

Ghostcrawler Tweets
Ghostcrawler still occasionally talks about WoW. Remember that he no longer works for or speaks for Blizzard.

Raids were epic in part because they were difficult and required a lot of coordination. You couldn't just round up mobs and AE them down, which worked for a lot of dungeons and quests. If there was a boss mechanic to get out of the fire, you had to get out of the fire, not assume that Circle of Healing would take care of it. And when you finally beat a boss after hours of days of attempts, it felt great, and everyone cheered in Vent.

I think there is room for a more casual raiding mode that preserves some of that experience. I don't think Raid Finder (at least circa MoP, which is that time I tried it) delivers on that experience. (Source)

Ship sinking fast. People have to work till 43 years old before they can retire. Company crumbling, employees can't aford more then 1 Ferrari per working quarter. Get to the boats.

I can see people leaving. WoW is old. It's the last of the titans in the MMORPG. Kids don't want to mold and shape long term characters when you can just pick one and play right away. MOBA and FPS games are in the rise and MMORPG is drawing it's last breaths and I don't mean just WoW. They still are not even 1/3 through their working life. They want to learn, improve, try new things. I understand people don't get it and ask questions life: "Why would they leave if they get paid good, have a reputation and made a comfort zone?" It's cause of the fact that they worked for someone like blizzard they get good pay anywhere they go and want to try new things and improve.

Maybe the ship has a hole. But that ship can still hold on for at least 2 generation of developers to rotate and refresh WoW, Starcraft and honestly Diablo. But don't think people are jumping ship cause there are internal problems. It can just be because the other ship has a bigger bar or they will get a room next to the captains cabin.

According to ex employees (grain of salt) the management is pretty awful there. I'm putting my money on that for the exodus.

Riot games is also on a downward spiral lately. So they're milking as much $$$ as they can by bringing in art guy for their micro character skins.

Sale numbers for Legion are the highest they've ever been, so it's not that.

And how is it welfare epics? They are literally the same items as WoD heroics.

God ilvl 810 was low. Would have expected at least 825 to get any motivation to run the event.

Not as of the report they put out a while back. It sold a decent amount but nowhere near the highest.

You people are idiots. Blizzard has hundreds of employees. HUNDREDS. A few people leave / retire and you think they're a sinking ship? Welcome to life, it's pretty clear none of you saying this have ever had a career position in your life. Blizzard will have no trouble whatsoever finding new talent to fill the spaces. New eyes on the game is a good thing.
  1. Faldric's Avatar
I am actually surprised they still had something like a Sr. Director for Story & Creative Development. The way the story is going downhill I thought that position was vacant for years.

Chris Metzen left blizzard and retired. Jordan left the Bulls. It's hard to continue to work on a team when the people you've been close to have left. It's just not the same. I don't think they're abandoning ship, I think they've simply decided that if there was ever a time to make a career change, this is it. I wish them the best, and I'm interested to see how fresh faces are going to change world of warcraft. It would be a mistake to think anybody could fill Metzen's shoes.

MMO Champ, please stop posting about people who leave Blizzard, regardless of reasons.

It's apparently to hard for the teens to grasp that there are other reasons beyond WoW doing poorly for such actions.

And to the people who claim sinking ship, I recently started leveling a new character.... I havent met a single person over 2k achivement points going 1-77, aka they are all new or returning players. Legion gave WoW a very fresh breath of air, and it's showing.

Maybe they are leaving because their friends are leaving and it doesnt feel as good as it felt with the original team.
    1 person leaves < 2 follow < 4 < 8 < 16 < 32...

    LOL The is sinking.
Did any of you have any experience in a big company ?
I work at a computing company where we are 3000 just on my local site, and the double in my country for all sites, and we have even global sites.
There is leaving and coming very often. What do you expect ?

For a company as big as Blizz, it's pure logic that some people leave eventually, and other come.

You said that market is thin and called the guy you quoted an idiot in the same post?

Regardless of their reasons for leaving i think it's worth noting that it has nothing to do with Blizzard or even WOW for that matter going downhill. The company is blowing up more than ever before especially with Legion and Overwatch being such a success, to leave for Riot games is not really an upgrade at all so I would imagine it's all personal reasons for leaving.

Like I said anything could be true. Activision is prolly causing a mess in production making creative and skilled developers work under constraints and pressure and stress. No one likes a working enviroment like that. Especially not some one whos ideas put the game where it is today.
