Tomb of Sargeras Boss Guides
The Tomb of Sargeras raid in World of Warcraft was added to the game data in Patch 7.2, and released in June 2017. Our strategy guide will help you to defeat the Tomb of Sargeras encounters and the loot listing below contains all of the loot the bosses drop on each difficulty.

Boss Guides

Tomb of Sargeras has nine bosses that all drop 885 (LFR), 900 (Normal), 915 (Heroic), 930 (Mythic) loot, except for Kil'jaeden, who drops loot 10 item levels higher.

Lore

Gul'dan is dead, but in Patch 7.2 we learn his ambitions for Azeroth’s destruction did not die with him. The Tomb of Sargeras is open, and Kil'jaeden – along with his most powerful generals - lies waiting within. But before challenging The Deceiver himself, it’s worth exploring how the Tomb of Sargeras became a tool for the Legion in the first place.

Before it became the location for what will be Azeroth’s greatest battle, the tomb was first known as the Temple of Elune. Located in Suramar, the temple was blasted to the bottom of the sea– along with the rest of the island– during the War of the Ancients. For thousands of years, the ruined temple remained lost to history until Aegwynn, Guardian of Tirisfal, found for it a new purpose.

Aegwynn was an immensely powerful mage sworn to protect Azeroth from the Burning Legion - a duty she fulfilled when she battled and triumphed over the Avatar of Sargeras, a physical manifestation of a fragment of the Dark Titan’s soul. But, even in defeat, a portion of Sargeras’s soul proved too powerful, so Aegwynn sealed the titan’s corpse within the sunken ruins of the temple, turning it into a tomb.

Since then, the tomb has become the focus of anyone seeking power by any means necessary.

The warlock Gul’dan first sought the tomb after having learned of its location from the sorcerer Medivh. Convinced it would grant him godlike powers, Gul’dan raised the tomb from the sea in an attempt to find the Eye of Sargeras located within. Despite his efforts, he never found it. Instead, he was torn apart by demons merely a few feet away from his goal, his body left behind as a reminder of the tomb’s malevolence.

Illidan Stormrage also sought the Tomb of Sargeras and the Eye, but unlike Gul’dan, Illidan actually retrieved it. Illidan used the Eye in an attempt to destroy the Lich King on orders from Kil’jaeden - but interference from Maiev Shadowsong ultimately caused Illidan to destroy a portion of the tomb and the Eye.

After a period of time, another version of Gul’dan also sought the tomb. Upon his arrival, he struggled against whispers from his master Kil’jaeden, coming to terms with how the original Gul’dan met his end while battling Archmage Khadgar for control of the tomb. Gul’dan won that fight and used the tomb’s power to begin the Legion’s assault on Azeroth.

Now Kil’jaeden has taken residence in the tomb, using it to personally oversee the destruction of Azeroth after so many failures. The tomb hosts the corrupted souls of the old temple’s guardians, The Deceiver's best generals, and even the very Avatar of Sargeras Aegwynn fought so many years before. Now the heroes of Azeroth will face the trials that have already defeated so many in hopes of putting the tomb to rest for good.
