Antorus, the Burning Throne Boss Guides » Imonar the Soulhunter Guide

Imonar the Soulhunter is a boss in the Antorus, the Burning Throne raid in World of Warcraft. Our strategy guide will help you to defeat the Imonar the Soulhunter encounter and the loot listing below contains all of the loot he drops on each difficulty.

Overview

Imonar the Soulhunter is a three phase encounter with two additional transition phases. The encounter revolves around avoiding the onslaught of various traps and navigating the dangerous corridor during the transition phase.

Heroic Changes

  • Shocked will be applied to players if they detonate a Pulse Grenade.
  • Slumber Gas is no longer dispellable on Heroic difficulty.
  • Heroic specific mechanics and abilities will be marked with throughout the guide.

Strategy and Positioning

  • Strategy for this fight will be broken down into the Main phase, and Transition phase.
  • All three main phases are similar to each other, with the addition or empowerment of abilities towards the end of the fight.

Main Phase 1(100-66%):
  • The boss should be tanked at the edge of the platform, and moved along the wall as traps appear.
  • The raid should spread around the edges of the room, ideally 10 yards apart if in a smaller raid group.
  • Move away from players affected by Sleep Canister, and avoid triggering traps.

Intermission Phase 1 (66%):
  • The goal of this phase is to navigate the bridge connecting the two platforms without activating the traps.
  • Avoid triggering Stasis Traps, because it will stun nearby players.
  • Avoid triggering Pulse Grenades, or running into Conflagration orbs
  • Interrupt the boss once your raid reaches the secondary platform.

Main Phase 2 (66-33%):
  • The boss should be tanked at the far side of the platform.
  • The raid should move as a unit around the edge of the room when Shrapnel Blast is cast.
  • Players affected by Charged Blast simply move out of the stack of players.

Intermission Phase 2 (33%):
  • The second Intermission is much more hectic, and might require the triggering of traps to clear a path.
  • We suggest triggering Stasis Traps, if needed, by players with high mobility who can move ahead of the raid, then healers dispel them quickly to keep the raid moving.
  • Avoid running into Blastwire, because coming into contact with it will deal a burst of damage to the raid.
  • Shrapnel Blast is triggered by the orange traps, which deal a burst of damage to players within 4 yards.
  • Interrupt the boss when your raid successfully reaches the primary platform.

Main Phase 3 (33-0%):
  • This last phase has the same abilities as Phase 1, however all abilities are empowered.
  • We recommend using Heroism/Bloodlust in this phase.
  • Players affected by Empowered Pulse Grenade should move away from other players.
  • The rest of the raid should be loosely stacked around the middle of the room, and move as needed when the boss casts Empowered Shrapnel Blast.

Strategies by Role

Hopefully these strategies and tips in our Imonar the Soulhunter guide will help you to defeat this encounter!

All Roles

DPS

  • The last 33% is the most difficult part of the fight, so consider using stronger damage cooldowns in this phase.

Healers

  • Dispel players affected by Sleep Canister after friendly players moved to a safe distance from the target.
  • Consider using healing cooldowns during the second Transition phase, because traps will be triggered to clear a path.
  • Dispel players who trigger Stasis Traps quickly.
  • Periodic damage will increase quickly during the last phase, making healing more difficult as the boss fight progresses.

Tanks

  • Tanks should taunt swap around 3-4 stacks of Shock Lance, which is when the debuff drops off (P1).
  • Make sure to have active mitigation up for Sever, and taunt when the debuff drops (P2).
  • Move the boss as needed when grenades spawn near the boss.
  • Empowered Shock Lance is a permanent debuff, so taunt swapping is only required when the tank feels like he cannot deal with the ever increasing damage.
