Table of Contents
Overview
Aggramar is the second to last encounter of Antorus, making him one of the more difficult bosses of the tier. He uses Taeshalach to unleash powerful fire attacks at the tanks and the raid.Heroic Changes
- Meteor Swarm happens during both Intermission phases, while on Normal it will only happen during the second.
- Embers of Taeshalach can only be killed by allowing them to reach the boss and explode, due to their Molten Remnants ability.
- Wake of Flame will happen during the second Intermission, where players need to avoid being hit by the waves cascading from the boss.
- Heroic specific mechanics and abilities will be marked with throughout the guide.
Strategy and Positioning
- Positioning of the boss and the raid will vary depending on which phase the boss is in. Below each of the phases and their corresponding strategies are outlined.
- Every time the boss reaches 100 Energy, he will unleash a five ability Combo called Taeshalach Technique.
- Foe Breaker (1st): A large frontal cone, during which one of the two tanks should use a defensive ability and face the boss away from the raid.
- Flame Rend (1st): A frontal cone that splits the damage amongst everyone affected by the ability. The second tank should taunt and face the boss towards the raid.
- Foe Breaker (2nd): The second tank should still have aggro here, but the boss should be faced away from the raid.
- Flame Rend (2nd): The first tank can taunt back at this point to face the boss towards the raid once again, splitting the damage.
- Searing Tempest: This last ability in the sequence is a long cast that creates a large circle around the boss. Upon completion of the cast the circle will detonate, so we suggest quickly running out of its radius.
- Foe Breaker (1st): A large frontal cone, during which one of the two tanks should use a defensive ability and face the boss away from the raid.
Phase 1 (100-80%):
- The raid should be generally spread, making it easier to deal with Scorching Blaze, and Wake of Flame.
- Right after the boss reaches 100 Energy, the entire raid should stack up behind the boss.
Intermission 1:
- The boss will jump to the center of the room and become immune, damaging and knocking players away if they get too close to him.
- Two Flames of Taeshalach will spawn, which should be tanked on opposite sides of the boss.
- The raid should prioritize killing the Embers of Taeshalach before they reach the boss.
- On Heroic difficulty, one Ember should be allowed to reach the boss every 20 seconds, while the rest should be controlled with either crowd control abilities or by killing them.
Phase 2 (80-40%):
- Same overall strategy as Phase 1 applies, except for the replacement of Wake of Flame with Flare.
- Players should be spread to make avoiding damage from Scorching Blaze, and Flare easier.
- Stack up behind the boss during Taeshalach Technique.
- On Heroic you will still have Embers of Taeschalach alive for part of this phase, one of which needs to be detonated by allowing it to reach the boss every 20 seconds.
Intermission 2:
- Same strategy as Intermission 1 applies.
- During this Intermission avoid standing in Meteor Swarm. Staying loosely spread makes it easier to dodge.
- Wake of Flame is added to this phase, making positioning much more important than Intermission 1.
Phase 3 (Below 40%):
- Same overall strategy as Phase 2 applies, except for the replacement of Flare with Empowered Flare.
- During Empowered Flare, Wake of Flame will radiate from each of the marked locations. Moving further from the impact zone of Flare makes it easier to dodge the waves.
Strategies by Role
Hopefully these strategies and tips in our Aggramar guide will help you to defeat this encounter! All Roles
- Wake of Flame has a small charge time before traveling, allowing players to move to a safe zone in time.
- Only ranged players are affected by Flare, so we suggest staying far from the melee group to avoid clipping them.
- Embers of Taeshalach are susceptible to all forms of crowd control and slows, unless they are within the empowerment radius of the Flames of Taeshalach.
- Never stand close to a tank, because the boss melee attacks the tank and their closest player.
- On Heroic, Death Grip or other forms of knockback can be used to force detonations of the Embers.
DPS
- Successful intermission phases rely on strong damage to kill the Flames before the raid damage becomes too high to heal.
- Embers of Taeshalach will explode if they reach the boss, making them the highest priority targets.
Healers
- Random players will take damage during Scorching Blaze, and if they are stacked within a larger group this will affect the nearby players as well.
- Large raid wide damage will happen during Taeshalach Technique, making aoe healing much more efficient at this point.
- The raid will take increasing periodic damage during the Intermission phases while the Flames of Taeshalach are alive.
- When an Ember of Taeshalach reaches the boss they will detonate dealing a large pulse of damage to the raid, and increasing the damage taken by any subsequent detonations by 100% for 20 seconds.
Tanks
- The boss should be tanked closer to the edge of the platform, allowing more room for the ranged dps to spread.
- Both tanks should stand in front of the boss, and very close to each other, due to Taeshalach’s Reach.
- Tanks should taunt swap around 6-8 stacks, or earlier if one of the tanks debuff times out.
- During Foe Breaker only one tank should be in front of the boss, and during the second one the tank without the debuff should have aggro.
- During the Intermission phases, the Flames of Taeshalach should be tanked on opposite sides of the boss to avoid empowering each other.

- Overview - Over the course of the encounter Aggramar passively generates energy. Upon reaching 100 Energy, his sword, Taeshalach, unleashes fiery energy and he begins Taeshalach Technique, a devastating combo attack, alternating between Foe Breaker and Flame Rend, ending with a Searing Tempest.
Upon reaching 80% and 40% Aggramar activates his Corrupt Aegis, preventing all damage and the elemental forces within Taeshalach are unleashed. Several smaller Embers of Taeshalach erupt from the blade along with two Flames of Taeshalach. The Embers slowy move towards Aggramar causing a Blazing Eruption.
