We Need You on the 7.3.5 Public Test Realm!

We Need You!
  • What You Want: To help make World of Warcraft a satisfying and seamless world to level through.
  • What We Want: Your feedback—the good, the bad, and the ugly—so we can iron out the wrinkles.
  • How We Do This: Create a new character on the PTR, level up as far as you can, and send us your considered, original opinion on the overhauled leveling experience.

The Big Ask
As you may have heard, we are significantly overhauling the leveling experience in World of Warcraft to make life more interesting for all the lower-level characters out there. Leveling zones from 1–100 will dynamically scale to your character’s level for a certain range, so you can spend longer in the places you love and experience more of your favorite quest lines and stories as you travel through Azeroth.

This is where you come in. On the 7.3.5 PTR, we want you to level a character, then give us your detailed, original feedback on the changes: zones, dungeons, quests, and the entire end-to-end experience in the zones you love and at the pace you enjoy. Share your thoughts on the experience, warts and all, and give us valuable insight that will change the game for the better.

Just the Facts
  • You will need to access the PTR build for Patch 7.3.5 (see below on how to do just that).
  • Level up over the course of the 7.3.5 PTR and provide detailed feedback on the experience. Examples could include:
    • Specific zones you played, and what level you were when arriving and moving on
    • Pick a leveling range to tell us about
    • Tell us which zones you chose and why, and what dungeons you completed
    • Your thoughts on the difficulty, pacing (including any specific quests or areas you had trouble with), and rewards
    • You can also let us know about any bugs you find: big, small, and downright squishy
  • We would also like to know:
    • Class
    • Specialization
    • The bug was annoying” is nowhere near as helpful as “When I arrived in Hellfire Peninsula at level 58 the quests were grayed out.”
    • (In other words: the more detail you give us, the better you will help us make the game!)

How to Create a PTR Account:
  • Log in to Blizzard Account Management.
  • Select your World of Warcraft account.
  • Select Additional Services, then click Public Test Realm.
  • Click History/Status to create your PTR account.

Planning Ahead
Be sure to log in to your Blizzard account and select the Public Test Realm (PTR) in Game Accounts.

  • Download the PTR client from within the Blizzard Battle.net desktop app.
  • Log in to any of the available Test Servers.
  • Create a new level 1 character.

Forgive Us Our Maintenance
Champions take note! We plan to leave the PTR up throughout the holidays, but as with any test phase there may be short periods of downtime to apply changes, perform maintenance, and other trickier things that pop up. If the PTR isn’t available for any length of time, please know we appreciate your patience, good humor, and participation. We are working hard behind the scenes to keep everything on an even keel.

Dynamic Leveling Feedback: 7.3.5 PTR forum

Thank you, we truly appreciate the feedback you give and look forward to all you have to share with us. See you in Azeroth!

Given that timewalking Ulduar is included in the 7.3.5 What's New image. When is Northrend Timewalking happening next on live? Perhaps that would be a good estimate of when to expect these changes to go live.

Maybe you should look into playing on Classic servers.
That's totally a different case in my opinion. Over the years I have been playing World of Warcraft on retail servers, in MY opinion leveling got worse and worse and worse, to the point that you literly one shot everything and that leveling a character is just a mindless grind. Some people might like it, well you had you're fun for the past 3 years or so. I like the leveling being harder and taking more time. And no I don't want to play on vanilla since I don't like the base vanilla game, I like the game how it is right now. So please come with good argument instead of just saying "play classic servers".

It's not hard to make the quests for lvl 110 and lock them behind having BfA preorder.

Because 1-60 content is utterly irrelevant, so it's not really fair to demand others to stay in there for longer than they have to because you like it. It's more than reasonable to ask, with 6 expansions of leveling content and 110 levels in the game, that leveling might be quick and easy, instead of making it even slower than it was.

its not irrelevant.. its part of the game..
by your logic its not fair to demand others to do mythic to get the artifact skins.. or mounts... simple.

Bliizz should release 4 of the 6 allied races pre-expansion and lock the other 2 races when BfA is released.

It's not relevant. It's outdated content. Your comparison is idiotic because Legion IS current content. Everything you do in Legion is current, and a lot of people levelign their characters want to hop into it, rather than be stuck for any longer in the 1-60 grind because some people are really bored and want to remain stuck in the old world and smell the flowers.

Actually not really..most of the 1-60 content is not vanilla anymore but cataclysm....The original lvl 1-60 mostly gone by the wind (like Order must be restored quest or the Guardians of the Altar quest....which is a great loss for me :P)

your comment is idiotic.. so you say only current content is relevant... -.- thats dumb .. all of the game is content.. it doesnt have to be current expansions.. people play alts or go complete archievements of older expansions.. go for mounts, etc.

if someone wants to play latest content then he/she will level if they find it fun, if not then they will use the instant level that comes with " latest content ". levelig its a part of the game. always was and will be.

the fact that its not vainilla does not make it not part of the game...

Yes, only current content is relevant. 1-60 content is 6 to over 10 years outdated depending. If you want to wallow in it, your choice, but leveling shouldn't be any more tedious than it was before 7.3.5. If they want to do older content, that's their prerogative, but people that just want to jump into the current content should be able to do so without a hassle, not think twice about leveling their new shaman to 110 because on top of the 90-100 and 100 to 110 experience, 1-60 was also made into a chore because a few people want to be forced to be in old content for longer periods, when that choice is literally their own to make.

So what will be done about old enchanting materials with the scaling Dungeons ? Do we have to lock a character at a specific level (of a mob) to get the BoP items to DE in Dungeons ?
Nothing has been said about that and it's something someone pointed out yesterday.

They've increased the required experience for hitting level 20 and 40 but by the looks of it the amount for hitting 60 remains relatively unchanged. We currently have no indication how much experience we're receiving from killing monsters or from quests outside of someone manually checking it on the PTR. You're complaining because it's going to take a little longer, which will most likely allow people to experience how the game will be played as it'll work closer to how it does for the 100-110 leveling. The whole point of these changes is to bring the rest of the game in line with how it plays at higher levels so that players are able to acclimatize to that throughout their journey.

At present the pre-90 levels may as well be a completely different game at this point. So when they start to approach those higher levels they're being thrown by those changes rather than welcoming them. That is if they even make it that far in the first place. The main sticking point is that the game isn't fun at lower levels because everything is so simple and easy there is no reason to maintain any focus on what you're trying to do. Thereby resulting in faster burnout for the players. Slightly longer but more rewarding leveling is not going to make that worse by any stretch.

Also, outside of Ghostlands, Eversong, Bloodmist and Azuremist isles the rest of the old 1-60 content was revamped during Cataclysm which actually made it far more current than the existing 60-80 content. Not to mention that this is also allowing people to switch between a choice of two different expansions for the 60-80 or 80-90 bracket which is going to allow them a great deal more freedom than having to be bogged down during the leveling procedure. Same with the level pool for dungeons being expanded across the board as well.

Not to mention, the rewards for their racial armor are given at level 110.
This tbh. I presume the encoded "dog" mount is probably the collectors edition mount as well. The Zandalari we meet in Zandalar, duh, and the Dark Iron Dwarves in Kul'Tiras. I presume we'll unlock them by completing the Zandalar and Kul'Tiras quest zones fully.

The point still remains that leveling from 1-110 is a chore for people that just want to get it over with. The current changes aren't so much a problem - they're fairly minuscule all things considered, but I disagree highly with the notion that we need to make leveling lengthier at all, instead of shorter.

At some point, we're gonna need some kind of squish. Either exp gets buffed through the roof or the levels get squished, because I have no intention to keep leveling alts if in a few years, I'll have 150 levels to get through and 8-9 expansions of leveling content just to be able to get somewhere in current content.

Increasing that by 60% will make leveling feel like pulling fucking teeth. I will never level in this game again without Recruit-A-Friend again. The increase in experience needed is 100% a way to push people to buy boosts and I fucking hate it.
YEA! Playing the game I pay for is stupid. Just mail us gear and give us levels.
