Normally I wouldn't mind that someone who achieved something gets a unique prize. However the original scarab lords did not attain their achievements on their own, or with any form of skill or singular effort. Scarab lords were nominated in their old vanilla guilds, and then the guilds helped them achieve it by nominating them to complete the quest.

I think they simply overvalue high end players and their opinions and expectations because they used to be high end players too and now they are designers. In their minds, they are nurturing future employees or pillars of in game community (or simply people willing to test shit for them on the PTR for free). But that career path was more circumstantial than anything, it happened in a time when game development was young and you really had few places to prepare for it outside of playing games a lot.

And special snowflakes with inflated egos wouldn't really be great potential designers. Most of them would sink the game faster than the Titanic judging by the opinions they express around here, since most of them hate and want to punish the casual player base that is the real cash cow of the game.

I really don't get some of you people.
Blizzard didn't even invest extra time and resources, in creating this mount, as it already is a mob, they recreated for the game.
So the only thing that you guys complain about, is that someone might get a mount, that you cannot get just because they must under no circumstances whatsoever, get anything better than you.

The amount of kids here is bizarre... a freaking recolor of a mob/mount, 0 resources spent... just wait for the rest of the colors to be updated.

Almost the same level of the players that complained about the kid with cancer who got a special version of a mount. "just because he has cancer, he is entitled to something?! die!".

So wait a Minute you all complaining over 7 pages about a Mount that only involves 0.00000001% of the playerbase
instead of seeing the real deal of the need to have your phonenumber given to Blizzard in order to recieve the extra 4 Backpackslots.
Its funny how in the last couple of months so many platforms tried to get your Phonenumber in order to make your life more secure.
So are they like selling this kind of information to china or elsewhere to make an extra buck or what happens in the world that every idiot nowadays need my number in order to secure my stuff.
I would say an autenticator is 500% more save than an SMS type of verification. So whats the idea to have this SMS bullshit addet to an even saver verification?

100% true. I have the authenticator since it was introduced to get the pet. Never ever had my account compromised. I don't need this SMS crap, especially since ist more likely to get your phone stolen or lost than your authenticator.

Oh look Blizzard with their consistency again in rewards.

As we could see in the Black Temple scenario with Illidan, the dev team are Scarab Lords themselves and/or know people that are. So this was basically a service for their own characters and/or their friends.

they have your name and adress allready, they dont need your phone number...
and no thats not how it works...
also a SMS is MUCH more secure then NOTHING
but an authenticator is EVEN MORE secure, and either are fine, but they promote the SMS because its FREE
they are not selling our fucking phone numbers to make an extra buck, go get your tinfoil beanie hat and your goat horn mug...

the other recolors cant be used outside the event
they are new models, they are not models we can allready use ingame, i dont get how you can think that this is just a "remodel of a mount EVERYONE can allready use"

People are joking about "where's my updated Zulian Tiger mount", but they have a point. There's no precedent for this, in fact the opposite, with older rare mounts getting newer reskins or releases.

WHY give a brand new HD mount to people for a 10 year old achievement? They already have a cool looking mount from the reward they did, which is suitably different (and in my opinion still superior style wise). Why spend dev time to give a brand new ADDITIONAL mount to so few players that didn't even ask for it or need it.

Blizzard also MUST know that 90%+ of the players that actually have it these days did so from exploits or realm swapping, so why reward that? Arguably, people with the Qiraji battle tank went through a MUCH bigger ordeal to get it than most of those with the black one now.

It's just an incredibly bizzarre thing to do. Literally the ONLY POSSIBLE explanation I can come up with for why Blizzard thought this would be a good idea is that there is someone/some people on the Blizzard team with the old mount that wanted to GIVE THEMSELVES a new HD mount but didn't want anybody else to have it.

Third: Blizzard MIGHT unlock the mount once vanilla-servers are opening and if they manage to open AQ accountwide. Then even newer player have the chance to get it.

Fourth: even if NOT. A reskin of a mount really doesn't take a lot of work. The HD-Upgrade of the mount itself is available to everyone, having put on a new color of skins is more a manner of minutes than a matter of hours; that's not really much of work.

Meh should just give everyone an upgraded Red/Aquamarine version that works outside of AQ. But not a big deal. I got like 200 odd other mounts that I use anyway.

To be honest I don't even see the point in limiting the older mounts to AQ anymore.

A. pay for this medal
B. that medal was given to them back then, not a brand spanking new one made 50 years later (more resonable time for military to game dev)
C. will not be 100% one of a kind

now that this is made we will NEVER be able to get a black silithus updated mount. where a medal well other people will get that, more will be made later. nope

The black one shouldn't be available to other people than those who got the original black one, and making the other Red/Blue versions only be usable temporarily is really sad to see.
IMO I don't see anything wrong with adding the red/blue ones available for players to obtain, and on top of that keep the black one exclusive for the people who got the original black one.

Hell I don't even know why the older ones are limited to AQ anymore. Just remove the restriction and make HD models for them. And update the Aquamarine model too.

most likley less then a hundred, and even less if you consider that a large amount of them are people who got theirs through the exploit that popped up at the WOTLK launch.
