Secrets of the Storm, Orphea
Following Rise of the Raven Lord two months ago, the next chapter of the Nexus comics is upon us. This time, we follow Deckard Cain as he travels the realm of King's Crest, belonging to Raena, the Lady of Thorns. Along the way, he meets up with Orphea, first mentioned in the previous comic. The name may ring familiar, as we datamined several hero icons of her earlier this month. Click below to check out Secrets of the Storm.

Nope, she and Brightwing didn't appear until Legion, which is younger than their HOTS versions. Murky on the other hand is from Vanilla

To be fair, i hope not, at most i would be ok with them as skins (Like Raven Lord skin for Medivh and Orphea skin for Chromie)

Randomer note: Their creation for HotS was inspired by the DOTA characters Puck, Aiushtha and Slark respectively.
I think the same happened with some Starcraft units (like Srg. Hammer) but still, those are not "HOTS" original per se

The real secret here is that Orphea will just be a Li Ming skin. HAHHAHA

Could be some relation, could be no relation. All we know is that he is very keen on finding her.

Nope, she was a HotS character that made her WoW debut in Legion alongside Brightwing and Murky.

You're thinking of the Blizzcon Murloc pet also called Murky, they're not connected.

While the name "Murky" was first used with the [Blue Murloc Egg], a reward for BlizzCon 2005 attendees, Murky as a distinct character first appeared in Heroes of the Storm. Murky's in-game abilities in Legion are the same as those he possesses in Heroes.

Don't think so. Red eyes, white hairs, coming from Raven's Court and coffin on her back mean she can be a vampire.

Pretty much guaranteed with how the comics is turned with its own HotS story. And it makes sense as the other blizzard franchise start to being a bit empty of new strong figure to translate into heroes (starcraft being the strongest in that regard).

As long as they still pop some iconic Blizzard character I'm all for some unexpected release. Orphea looks like a caster. The lady of the thornes give some kind of "red mage" vibes, but could also go to a tankish direction she also remind me of lol's Leona in her style.

This game can't end being a "Heroes of Warcraft" which is the only license with still a huge pool to pick from. There still some Diablo and obviously Overwatch characters easily pickable (GOD PLEASE LET REINHARDT COME and Imperius to a lesser degree) but it can't end with only Warcraft as a viable pool. You still need some freshness, I'm not against its own lore as long as it doesn't become too important.

    Who?

    I'm still waiting for a KJ/Archimonde "hero"...

We still have the BFA release in a month and a half. I fully expect a Warcraft hero or two around that time.

I always kinda felt HOTS was a wasted opportunity. You've got Blizz's best and brightest, and some B- and C-listers, in a shared universe and just let that go without exploring how they'd all interact with each other and the big wars that could spark in the Nexus?

As far as OCs versus integrating existing heroes, I mean, about a third of the roster is just nameless units/NPCs who were given names and one-paragraph backstory so it doesn't bother me. Too many free-play games try to blow their load on all their A-listers too fast and run out of things to entice players into buying shit down the road, which can lead to the game folding if it can't pull a profit.

Very excited to return from vacation next week to give you all some exciting content.

Keep an eye out tomorrow for something extremely special and exclusive within the @BlizzHeroes scene...
I'll throw my neck out and say we're hearing about Nexus original stuff, I hope heroes but that seems to be controversial lol

Well, we're bound to hear about [insert name of new hero here] this week anyway. New patch comes out on the 10th, which means PTR on Monday.

Guess Orphea will have to wait a while, given we're getting two reworks next.

Character interaction in HotS is fucking awful. I understand that they didn't have a roster already clearly laid out for them like Dota 2 did, but Dota 2's character interaction is so many leaps and bounds better than HotS that it's criminal. In Dota 2, the characters quip lines to one another, make reference to their relationship to each other, have kill/death lines for each other, etc. In HotS the best we get are super canned dialogue exchanges between two characters during the pre-match countdown and half the time those interactions include generic lines, like "ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?" and then the other guy goes "YEAH!!". It's a joke.

Blizzard has greatly slowed down hero releases. New patch no longer means new hero.

Figured we'd get at least one more hero release in before another round of reworks, considering that we just had one. That and the fact that Orphea's hero icons are already in the game client. Guess we're gonna wait a bit longer!

If Orphea or any original nexus hero is coming before Imperius then i am gonna take a few months break. Blizz should really focus on their big and well established universes before releasing original and completely new heroes.

I grew up playing their games in 96. I wanna see Mephisto, Baal etc etc reimagined in 2018 graphics and style. Doing original heroes is turning it towards Dota 2 or LoL.

Heroes are expected to come every 6-8 weeks now, Y'rel is only 2 weeks old, so expect at least a month before we get a new one. And I'm pretty sure Blizz straight up said the release pattern is basically gonna be hero, reworks or major balance patch, hero, reworks/major balance patch now. We just had Y'rel 2 weeks ago, so now it's rework or major balance time, then next will be new hero.
