Upcoming Content Patch - Developer Live Stream
Patch 8.1 - Tides of Vengeance is coming to the PTR this week!

Tides of Vengeance
  • The Horde and Alliance conflict may feel more distant right now, but that's all about to change.
  • Tides of Vengeance is the next update!
  • Coming to the PTR by the end of the week!

New Content
  • The War Campaign continues.
  • Incursions are coming - Similar to Legion Assaults. Horde/Alliance forces will invade an area, turning off World Quests, and adding an objective for the area.
  • New World Quests are coming.
  • Saurfang, Tyrande, and Vol'jin story lines will be advanced.
  • Heritage Armor is coming for other races: Dwarves and Blood Elves. It is unlocked via a racial quest, Exalted and Max Level? You can log in, do the quest, and unlock it!
  • New Warfront - The Battle for Darkshore. Night Elves vs Forsaken. New Structures and Upgrades. Darkshore will have max level character content and zone updates.

Island Expeditions
  • Two New Island Expeditions - Jorundall (Vrykul) and Havenswood (Gilnean City)
  • Island Expeditions will have new events and enemies, more variety, holdouts that can be triggered, and Azerite Extraction points that you'll have to depend.
  • Island Expeditions will have major spawning improvements. Won't be uniformly blanketed by spawns. More clusters and hubs, more gaps, more navigability between hubs.

New Raids
  • Siege of Zuldazar
    • Different than any raid before.
    • The enemy is the opposite faction, with separate faction experiences.
    • Alliance start at the docks and climb the pyramid, eventually fighting King Rastakhan.
    • The Horde will defend the city, starting outside on the far north of the pyramid. They fight towards Rastakhan, which will be the middle of the raid for them. They then fight Alliance forces down towards harbor, ending with Alliance commanders and Jaina on the high seas.
    • This is two separate six boss experiences.
    • After completing the faction specific experience, you'll be able to experience the other 3 faction bosses that you didn't get to experience firsthand.
    • There are a total of nine new boss encounters.
    • We'll see a new interior of the pyramid that we've never seen before.
  • Crucible of Storms
    • This raid has two bosses and is located under Stormsong Valley,
    • It will be released after Zuldazar.
    • There will be supporting world content.
    • Hints at influence of Queen Azshara

System Improvements
  • Class updates, new Azerite Traits, new profession recipes, Gnomeregan Pet Battle Dungeon, and more!
  • Team has learned from the Azerite Traits, current ones are a floor in terms of complexity, new traits with more complexity coming.
  • Replacements are coming for traits that are not interesting or effective.
  • In the past, first Tier set bonuses were simpler, with more complex ones coming later.
  • Map and Reputation improvements are coming.
  • Champion of Azeroth reputation will be effectively account wide. If you are already Revered, you can level an alt and go get your upgrades right away at Level 120.
  • Reputation restricted transmog items will have restrictions removed.
  • Progress towards the X Number of Exalted reputations achievements will be account wide.
  • In the events following the raid, we should be able to recruit the Kul Tiran and Zandalari Allied Races. If you are Exalted with the Zandalari / Proudmoore and played through the War Campaign, that's enough, nothing additional to do.

Both sides think they're getting the raw deal in the Alliance vs. Horde raid.

See Blizz, this is why faction-based conflict is a bad idea. You want new content to get players hyped, not make them feel like shit.

The new raid sounds cool. I like the new content being added and reps being made account-wide may actually make me want to level my alts before flying.

I was hoping (futilely, I know) for flying in 8.1, even though I believe with Legion it wasn't until at least 7.2. But it's not a big deal - I'll just continue to focus on my main in 8.1 and maybe level an Alliance alt to 120 but hold off on leveling the rest (14+ characters lvl 100+) to 120 until after flying/heirlooms for 110+ are out.

    Let's take out our 2nd grade mathbooks. 3 Faction specific bosses in a 9 boss dungeon. That's 3 + 9 = 12 bosses. Another raid with 2 bosses (this one builds up to 8.2 Azshara since it's in Shrine of Storms area) 12 + 2 = 14. 14 bosses.

Also, because you probably don't understand how development goes or what is considered patch worthy, but updates to systems, another warfront, hertiage armor (art team says hello), pet battle dungeon, those "few quests" AND updated (and more) island expeditions. Yea, that's a "minor patch" alright.

Quite a bit bigger than 7.1 "Return to Karazhan" was. That was just a new dungeon, the ToV raid, and Suramar Campaign continued.

for a first major patch this is pretty darn ass fine.

oh, and the races ARE in.
TWO new raids yes, but a total of 11 bosses, we used to get 12-14 in a major patch, remember? Few more quests. Basically 7.2 without the broken shore, but a few more story quests (which I love). Nice for a minor patch, but you can't call it major in any way.

7.1 was a minor patch He called 8.1 a major patch. Biggo difference there.

Rasta dead for sure, Jania probably pulls a Sephiroth. Which is understandable and kind of expected. Could be wrong, but that is the vision I have of this. Rasta might even die outside raid, ie horde steps in at end of alliance fight, breaks it up/beats it back and then he dies in a cut scene after.

I'm interested to see the implementation of the raid.

    Rastakhan might though.
Yeah, how Ion presents it is that the Alliance will have Rastakhan as the final boss, while the Horde fights Alliance champions including Jaina. So it's probably some other Alliance character(s) that bite it while Jaina retreats.

I'm not certain I understand how revisiting the story works however. So initially, say you're Alliance, you do the raid, kill your three bosses and end with (I presume) killing Rastakhan. Then you go back to Boralus and do, what, the same bosses as Hordeside for completion's sake? Or three new bosses that are only there for the second part for both factions, so in the end effectively both factions have to fight six bosses total, three faction-specific and three shared?

As opposed to the traditional legion style of ToV + Nighthold? hahahaha

It's exactly the same... ok, it's inverted (big then small instead of ToV > Nighthold).

You're a fool if you think alliance and horde will have actually different fights and not just the same fight with a different skin on the boss

They'll probably both get pros and cons. Jaina will be beaten back and taken down a peg, King Rastakhan will probably be killed. Either way, Zandalari will be enraged and want to join the Horde, Kul Tirans will think "well we cant back out now" and join the Alliance. I hope the other faction specific bosses are important lore wise so that we can end up killing Alliance figures (and Alliance can kill Horde figures). War isn't fair, screw the people complaining.

But there will be 14 new bosses, 3 of them faction specific.

So if i understand that correctly, we fight 3 Bosses (Alliance or Horde) than we will find some NPCs that tells us what happend transforming us to the other faction then we fight the bosses the other faction started with and after that we fight another 3 neutral bosses?

Yes because King Rastakhan will pop an ice block and summon his frost elemental and do all sorts of water/ice attacks... just go sit in the corner.

I wonder if the world first race will actually be two races now that they are faction specific. Does this mean Method needs to level and gear Alliance toons so they can world first both versions of the raid? :O

No, King Rastakhan will pop shieldwall and summon his guards and do all sorts of throwing axe attacks. Again, you're a fucking retard if you think there will be anything different between the bosses

I imagine it will be the 9/9 no matter the faction.

World First for is over when the 9 bosses in there are dead. Doesn't matter which faction.
